Although this is in the children/teen section of the book store I believe it is a book written for all ages. Especially in today's America, this book is a reminder to stop the self obsession and be kind. One person being kind can have such an impact. We can change our culture one person at a time...one kindness at a time.

Heartwarming and positive. An excellent read/lesson for young adults, although a good read for all ages. I work with Caitlin and its been wonderful to see the passion and love she has for her "brother."

A wonderful book for all to read! Makes us really aware of how blessed we are to live in the United States and have all the possessions we have and take for granted! and makes us also aware that we can, as individuals, make a difference in the life of another!

A touching story of kindness that touched many lives....and to think it all began as a pen-pal letter! We can change the world, one kind act at a time, one kid at a time. Wonderful true story that will make your soul smile (desperately needed in our troubled times).

Interesting book providing a real contrast between life in the suburbs of the US and life in a rural town in Zimbabwe. We read this for a book club, but I think it would also be a great book for middle school and high school classes.

I love this book and bought copies for several gifts. One copy was missing pages in the middle, obviously a printing error. Because it was a gift, I did not give it to the person until after the eligible return date. Thus, when she started reading it she got midway through and noticed that it was missing pages. the store will not exchange this because it is past the exchange date. It's not like I ripped the pages out or even read it and then tried to get a refund. All I want is an exchange and they refused to do so. So this review is not about the book itself which I would give 10 stars. It is for the the store customer service.

This book about two lovable characters with different lives is amazing! Caitlin, your normal late 1900s girl, and Martin, a poor, smart Zimbabwe boy, become friends over the years all because of a single letter.

A great story of love, faith, commitment, and persistence shared by two young adults who were thousands of miles apart. This has been a summer reading assignment for my daughter's high school, but is really a must read for everyone. It is a great reminder as to the priorities we make in our lives, and keeping life's challenges in the proper perspective.

This book needs to be required for school age kids to read, it changed my view of how fortunate I am to live in a house with working plumbing and have a bed to sleep in... don't hesitate to purchase this book, it's well worth the cost for such a priceless story.

Magnificent piece of work from Martin and Caitlin. It was difficult to put down this book. Finished the book in 2 days!!.. and was quite impressed to the end. The book is written in a simple and direct way. The fact that it’s based on a true story makes the book touching and inspirational.
