Nice to have. Was a little disappointed after reading through it considering it costs the same as a PHB, MM, or DMG, but overall its OK. I like most of the monsters included, just wish it was a little more.

Amazing book dedicated to monsters. Comes with very in depth info on some creatures as well as a pretty good array of new monsters to throw in. If your looking for a book solely for new monsters I prefer Tomb of beasts but Volo's books have always been good.

Exactly what you've heard about it. Expands the lore of some monsters, gives new races to play with (although GMs be careful because some can be unbalanced) and adds a good number of new monsters, and new classes of existing monsters.

I enjoyed the expanded monsters lists and getting some extra insight on a few of them. Lairs, motivations, etc. are helpful for making unique dungeons. Some of the fluff text is dumb, but overall a pretty solid value.

This book adds some really great character classes as well as new monsters. I am about to run a campaign that takes place in Chultan and this book will allow me to bring in new options for my players. Great supplement monster guide.
