I read the comments online and understand the concerns about the timeline, repetition of some dialog and the repeated close escapes, but I viewed this as setting up Sean's (the new Emperor and main protagonist) background, motivation and character. I've read all three in the series and I agree that somehow the pace is going to have to change given the scope of the galaxy supposedly in play here. Having said that, I haven't run across too many authors with the breadth of vision shown in these novels. Amazing universe construct, interesting characters (and a willingness to sacrifice them for the continuity of the story) and intricate multiple plot lines that must be a b*tch to keep straight and somehow heading for the ultimate story nexus.
A great read, and I'm definitely going to be checking out more of the author's novels and would encourage others to do the same. A great value for the price and although I'm also pretty nit picky about the spelling and grammar issues, they don't really rise to the level where they override the great ride the author is providing.

I have eagerly followed this series for all three books. Any reader who has enjoyed the Honor Harrington books and similar stories will love what Dandridge has created. I can only predict his writing talents will grow and expand to real print at some point. If not, publishers will be losing a best selling author. Their loss!
Spirit Animals: Book 3: Blood Ties :: Making Smarter Decisions When You Don't Have All the Facts :: A couple of simple steps every day to create the life you want :: and Loving Your Home Every Day - The Secret to Cleaning Better :: The Oncoming Storm (Angel in the Whirlwind Book 1)

Fast paced, nonstop action on the ground and in space. The authors newest book kept me up late every night, having to force myself to put it down. Anyone who is looking for really good science fiction need look no further than a Doug Dandridge book. The only problem I have is now I am caught up, and have to wait for the next one.

One of my favorite space opera with strong military foundation. The character development is very good, the story jumps around and brings the light on the galactic war from multiple angles. The suspense is high as humans struggle against a superior alien foe. I liked the first book of the saga so much that I bought the next five the same day. Keep up the good work!!

By the authors increasing emphasis on individuals and increasing lack of detail of 'stellar-political' events and developments, he is showing his inability to project a coherent picture of events and developments. When compared to the 'Honorverse' series it is sadly lacking.

This book Is obviously building plot for the rest of the series. Just kept working up to the next important things to be played out in the next book. The space battles were a little long, and flat. Too focused on how many missiles were still coming at the ship.

And just as interesting as Heinlein. Great concepts, history characters I love. This series shows how 1st rate science fiction has been given to us through the store self publishing. I recommend this series highly.

That's said, I have just finished the third installment of Doug Dandridge' s Exodus: Empires at War. I like the complex plotting and the assortment of characters. At first, trying to keep track of all the admirals, captains, ships and so on was like reading a Russian novel. By the second installment, however, I figured out who was who. Happy to say, none of my favorites have died . . . Yet.
I teach English, so all but basic science is beyond me. That doesn't keep me from enjoying Dandridge' s galaxy. I admit,I tend to skim over much of the battle scenes. Again, the science thing, plus I'm no expert on military nuances. Although. When it comes to the exciting parts, I read every word. I'm anxious to learn what happens to Commander Jackson and how Jana Gorbekov (sp) gets away from her Cacadasan captors-or does she? Hmm. And what about the prince? Will there be civil war? I guess I'll find out in the following installments.
