Great hook of a beginning. Fast read. Anyone who is an avid reader will figure out the big reveal. That being said it did not make me enjoy the book any less. Will look forward to more form this author.

I was eager to keep reading. The narrator was intriguing. I enjoyed trying to predict what would happen next and if the narrator was reliable or not. It was a first read of anything by Lutz and I'd read her again.

Did not agree with the plot - too unbelievable and the main character kept making bad choices and never took responsibility for her choices.
The character "Blue" seemed like a sociopath and not a good friend choice either.

A maligned woman changes identities and flees the law...until someone she meets by chance goes out of her way to vindicate her. Sorry, but I just couldn't easily accept the violations of innocent people, even if it kept her from the law. The ending was too pat for my liking.

The phrase 'a real page turner' is too often used for mediocre prose but not in this instance. I hope Ms. Lutz has written another instalment because it will take a long search to equal this compelling read.

I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to read a well written book with mystery and such intriguing characters. It got 5 stars, because I was never bored and stayed interested the entire time, not very often does a book make me really feel the characters turmoil and sorrow. Like I said, great book! Thanks.

This is one of the few thrillers that proclaim to be "the next Gone Girl" that didn't leave me disappointed. It's not as good as Gone Girl, but it's got a lot going for it.

It's about a woman - let's call her Tanya - who goes on the run after her husband is found dead. We learn that she's not who she says she is, and that she has actually been on the run for over a decade, changing identities as needed following a mysterious event that occurred in her past.

As the book progresses, the dark secrets from Tanya's past are slowly revealed.

There are a couple things about this book that set it apart from others like it: 1) Tanya is a genuinely likable character for whom you actually feel sympathy. In most thrillers with unreliable female narrators, the women aren't very likable. But Tanya has a conscience. 2) The "big reveal" was pretty solid. It wasn't over-the-top disturbing or anything, but it was satisfying.

As with most books in this genre, some suspension of disbelief is required, but I genuinely enjoyed following Tanya's journey and was always eager to find out what happened next.

The beginning and ending were great. The middle dragged along and the events were predictable but the author did a great job wrapping everything up. Overall, if you like a mystery, this is one to read.

I disliked that most of this book just consisted of a woman on the run. It just lacked substance. The end was not bad but it took 9 tenths of boring repitition till it actually went somewhere and got remotely interesting.

When Tanya Dubois runs from the scene of her husband's dead body at the bottom of the stairs, I figured she was guilty. She claimed to be innocent, so I didn't quite get why she was running. There had to be more to the story, and it turned out to be HOLY COW - a whole lot more that just kept the back-stories unwinding and me from putting the book down. Poor Tanya/Debra/Jo can barely remember her names as they change, and I couldn't help but feel that she had never had time to figure out who she really was when she was assuming identities to stay ahead of a murder charge. The action in this book was so good that I won't post any spoilers at all, but I never saw the end coming and was just amazed that the author had any more up her sleeve. This is a great book, and while the story is on the dark side, it's fun to take the journey with the main character and try to figure out where she'll end up. It has been a long time since I stayed up late on a work night to finish a book!

Absolutely mesmerizing...the heroine, the plot, the psychological insights and twists! But best of all, I think we can all identify with this shape-and-name-changing human, caught in a web she did not design. One she is resourceful enough to ultimately escape.
