Any fan of science and space needs to read this book. Besides the very well researched fiction basis of the trip out of the solar system, the facts of NASA, Astronauts lives, JSC, Clear Lake, and on and on and on are factual. I lived almost 20 years right out of the back gate to JSC by the baseball fields. It's worth reading just to get an idea of what really goes on.
I could talk all night... BUT JUST READ IT!!!

Not a bad novel. The character development is well done. I caught about five typos, which is impressive. You can tell English was not the original language of the author by certain turns of phrase and word placement. The U.S. doesn't have Ministries, it's "unstable", not "instable", and there are a few other examples of errors. Overall interesting book. I recommend it.

If nothing else the ending made up for any boring parts. There were several times that I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat. characters were deep and easy to connect with weather you liked them or not. I did find myself skipping over some of the sections describing the technology but I am sure that people who like that kind of detail would just love it.

This was a tremendously depressing story. It could have been a good read, but I don't like stories with this sort of heavy-handed, fatalistic approach. In addition, there are is errors, like using phrases like "board computer" instead of "onboard computer" and calling the US Department of Energy the "Ministry of Energy" without explanation.

If you like frustrating "everything goes to hell and then to an even worse hell and it never gets better" story, you'll love this. Otherwise, steer clear.

Good tale, good science... and creepy, too. I could not put this down....

While Ed is a bit flakey - not quite believable for a mission commander - the events that occur are all too realistic. No creep factor immediately... but you WILL get there. :)

If you love Asimov, Heinlein, and others of that ilk, you'll enjoy this!!

I enjoyed the story which at first seemed to be a repeat of known facts. It was, with a twist. It reached into the "what if category" and ended with the end to the end. Higgs Bosom has conquered us at it's ugly end. Hopefully this fictional theory does not reach fact. It was a disappointing ending. I rated it at 3 for the human emotion and the facts as presented.

While the complexities of NASA and space technology are explained in detail...a primer needs to be attached at the beginning to educate novice astronauts on the vernacular required to be a cosmos explorer. In a brief summary of a provoking descent into mankind’s inevitable destruction, our barbarism seems to know no boundaries without a heavenly God to save us from ourselves.

Interesting read.

I Really diddnt like the main character, I guess guys like this are real but it is hard to root for them, the other characters were far more likeable. The premis and ending were pretty depressing (which I guess is why all the low scores) but the story was very interesting and the science well done and well described.

This book is so amazing and scary but true. If you love stories that deal with space travel and what astronauts go through each day of their careers besides what happens in space this book is for you. IT WAS EXCELLENT. WELL DONE MR. PETERSON.

Great book. Well-written, good dialog, strong plot. Solid character development. The Fermi Principle being answered. Good imagination by the author. The conclusion puts us back at the beginning, I loved it! Highly recommend this book, and all others by Mr Peterson.

Interesting but depressing. The book offers some good moments but leaves the reader hollow at the end. However, I think this author is German and happy endings are not demanded elsewhere in the world like they are in America.

Only made it half-way through the first book. Typos were distracting, most of what I waded through struck me as 'filler' (not important to the story in any way I could see), characters poorly developed in spite of MANY words used to describe them, kept waiting for the writing to return to the (interesting) premise, finally gave up.

I was a little confused in the first couple of chapters but then I realized what the author was doing, very original. The story kept me guessing and I usually guessed wrong... Well written and I had problems putting it down. I'll be looking for more books by this author.

This is the third and final book of the adventure. I enjoyed it more than the second installment which dragged on a bit too much for me. This final chapter was a good reprieve. I will read more from this author. Overall an interesting story concept.

This is a good read and really makes you think about our place in the universe as well as our own mortality as humans and the way our culture is. Kind of a big eye opener to the way we conduct ourselves. I would definitely recommend this. The first half of the book goes into depth into character development but I wish the end didn’t feel so rushed, but it is a reasonable ending.

A really good storyline and writing. A nice twist with the nanotechnology constructed Dyson spheres and the collective intelligence. While I would like to have seen an ending that left some hope for man, it was still an exciting read. Thank you for a good one.

One of those books that is hard to put down and you are forced to read in one or two sittings. The book addresses one of the key science-fiction questions while keeping the characters interesting and a few surprises. The big surprise is the ending.

Peterson’s imagination and story telling are exemplary and create a both a totally believable script and yet a totally surprising twist. Cinch yourself into the acceleration couch. You are going on a rocket ride to the edge of the solar system.

Ending was kind of cataclysmic...with nuclear war and mission ending in a question mark...narrative was good with solid character development of the main actors. I enjoyed the book, but ending seemed a bit off.

Excellent story telling, believable characters. The characters are real life types, no quasi superheroes, just driven real people. They story moves at a pace that is easy to read and easy to put down during dinner. I'm going to see what else he's written.

Before getting to the end I would have given this four stars. It was very good. The ending is horrible. It wasted my time. Normally I would explore an author's other works. After this I will not do so.

The author must have been going though a negative period in his life when he penned this book. From the first chapter the story took a depressing tone. All of the characters were portrayed as very flawed people. Space exploration is looked upon very negatively in my humble opinion. The last time I heard about a Dyson Sphere was in a Star Trek The Next Generation; they aren't good things, at least the way he uses them. I can't recommend this, read at your own risk. Nuff said!!!!

This was a nice look into what NASA could possibly be and do with the help of private enterprises. For me though the individual story lines of the character's lives made the book rather then the mission itself; but the destination was less then the voyage.

For me, the author did a great job of developing the characters and then getting them to behave in ways that make sense. The overall story is predictable but the journey through the story was a lot of fun. I like the intermingling of real science and engineering theory with the flights of fantasy that make sci fi fun. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

A lot of build up to a weak ending that seemed to come quickly with a predictable twist. Not my favorite book. For me one star is hated it, two is didn’t like it, three is liked it, four is loved it, and five is we should teach this to our children in school.

If I had known the premise I would not have read it. I kept reading it thinking the author would fix his blatant disregard for his characters but it only got worse. There were 4 people on the spacecraft. 2 were women, and although much time was spent on their training for their fated flight, we knew nothing of the female characters. Don't waste your time.

It took so long for them to get to space that I almost stopped reading. He went in too much detail about every little thought each character had. I know you have to build on that to develop a character but it was too much.

This reminds me of the great SF I grew up with! Not the typical mindless drivel one usually sees today. Well developed plot and characters. Science that makes sense! I'm glad to discover Phillip P.P.!

A good read. Thought was used to write this story, unlike many "books" written today. Will look for more stories written by this author.
To the author: Check your proof reader, noticed a few mistakes here and there.

I have read other books by this author and enjoyed them. This offering, however, was very weak. The main character was completely unlikable. The others not much better. The insertion of seemingly negative personal opinions about American politics, nationalism and patriotism shows that this book was written by an author of a different nationality. And, of course, we must include the token gay character to round out the very unlikable. Not going to include a spoiler. The author has done that himself .
