Great read. Jill Shalvis has the ability to connect because her characters are just like you and me. Everyday people who make mistakes, but still keep putting one foot in front of the other to try to get their lives in order.

I love Jill Shalvis' books, especially this series, and this one is in my top three. I think Cole Donovan is my favorite character so far. Too lovable for words, he could do no wrong in my opinion. And although Olivia started out seeming standoffish in the previous book, hearing her story made me sympathize with her and understand her need for privacy. Great storyline, fun secondary characters. A perfect Lucky Harbor read.

Another winner from author Jill Shalvis-emotional and has you crying at the end of the story. Olivia has just moved to town with a new business and trying to hide from her family. Cole works with his two friends at the local dock with a charter boat company. The book gets you so involved in the emotions that the characters are going through that you just want to keep on reading. Going on the keeper shelf as always with Jill's books.

So this was a cute, romantic read, but also touching and humorous, in true Jill Shalvis fashion. Lucky Harbor seems to be the place to go to find true love, and that's only one reason why this town is so great. It's also filled with people who may gossip about you, but love you and have your back. This time around, we have Cole, a native of Lucky Harbor, who returned two years ago after tragedy struck and heartbreak followed closely after. Being the local MacGyver and Charter boat captain (beside his two equally hot best friends), Cole is well loved and admired, but has kept his heart at a distance with his high expectations and unresolved hurts. When shop owner Olivia literally lands on him, he finds himself unable to ignore his heart's wants any longer. Olivia has her own difficult past and set of hurts a mile long, so despite her attraction to Cole's kindness and honesty (and looks), her heart is also having some troubles of its own.

I love the way Cole's character was set up. He's not your typical alpha male hero, though still with some alpha tendencies to make it interesting. But he has so many other great and intriguing qualities, that he really made for a terrific hero for me to read about. I loved that he wanted to help Olivia (and anyone else he sees), but slowly he also becomes aware of the things he needs to deal with in his own life. Also, seeing him alongside Sam and Tanner, as well as his mother and sisters, really rounded out his well-meaning, flawed, but heartsy personality.

Olivia was also a fun, unique character to get to know. She has such a strength about her, yet the walls and secrets she has built around her don't hide her kind nature and tender spirit. It was hard reading her struggles at times because I just wanted to make her do the right thing, but knew this was her journey to take. I loved how the tender bits of her were showcased. And then there was the way she fell for Cole without even knowing it, even though we could all see it. They were a fantastic match.

While these stories can feel a bit formulaic at times, I love Jill Shalvis's writing, storytelling ability, and character development, especially for the romance reader. I can't help but be drawn into her stories, and He's So Fine is no exception. Cole and Olivia's story pulled me in and didn't let me go. I was happy. I laughed. I was frustrated. I shook my head in disappointment. I swooned. I cheered. I loved it. And I'm really looking forward to Tanner's story in the next book. I'm hoping some extra peeks into Sam and Cole's lives, since it'll be the last book, as well as Tanner's HEA.

Eleventh in the Lucky Harbor romance series and revolving around key hotties in town. The couple focus in He’s So Fine is on Olivia Bentley and Cole Donovan.

This ARC was provided by NetGalley and publisher in exchange for an honest review.

My Take
In He's So Fine, it's an unexpected battle for Cole. He's never experienced a woman so determined to keep him at arm's length. As for Olivia, she's determined to not succumb because her entire life has been one of expectation, obligation, and abandonment. She's not gonna go there anymore. That's not the only battle Cole has, though. He still hasn't dealt with the death of his friend nor the death of his dreams with his fiancée.

These two are so alike, and yet so different. Cole knows what family is; Olivia only knows about the concept.

I love Cole's family. Yeah, they can be poke at ya pretty good, but it's done with love and affection, never the greed and demanding attitude that Olivia experiences. What is with her mother and sister anyway? They need money? Well, just go to the family cash cow and whine, just do this show, so we can take your money, whine, we deserve it, whine…screw your hopes, dreams, and wishes, just make ours come true, whine… I'd kick them to the curb and suggest they get jobs.

I mean, what the heck? Olivia bought her mother a hair salon. One that if "managed properly, she doesn't have to work a day", and Jolyn claims that her job is coping with their mother…so why isn't she running the hair salon to earn the money her mother needs for her next boob job? If I'd been Olivia, I'd'a slugged Jolyn, pushed her out the door, and then locked it. Her family interactions sure can't get any worse.

I like the analogy of Olivia and the old stuff she likes to suss out: neglected and discarded with a new lease on life. And I do love the sound of Olivia's shop. My kind of place as I adore old things, they have such a history to them.

Ohhh, I love the idea of Drama Day. What a clever marketing ploy for a vintage shop and a great way to interact with the community.
Olivia is trying to put Cole off balance with the selection of Halloween costumes available: Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz or Miley Cyrus. And Cole reckons, "I could rock either."

My niggles include the start of this story. Oh, it's dramatic enough, but with the close eye that Olivia keeps on the three hunks of Lucky Harbor Charters, wouldn't she know this was Cole? And jumping in to save him when she can't swim? I've always thought she had more sense, and wouldn't it make more sense to throw a life preserver in after him? I've never been to a dock where they don't have preservers around.

Of course, it does make for a funny start to the story, if you can keep that suspension of belief going. Once they get inside the boat, things heat up, not quite believably, and Shalvis gets back on course with a touch of the Keystone Kops in Cole and Olivia's exchanges. I am a bit confused about Olivia not wanting to strip and then insisting that Cole does. She's not a stupid woman, so why she's being stupid is a question.

It's not all fun and games for Cole either — although he did have some fun with Olivia's phone, lol. Seems he's learned something about his best friend that makes him question everything in his life. Trust has always been a big thing for Cole. Finding out about his friends shakes his world, so when he finds out about Olivia…oh, boy…
Oh, crack me up with this comment from Callie:
"'Because I haven't been out on a date in a long time,' Callie said. 'I'm living vicariously through you. I need this date, Olivia.'"

There are fun and games coming up in Tanner's life, oops, I mean, for everyone around Tanner, when Elisa shows up to drop their kid off on Tanner. Seems he's a chip off the old block…

So it'll be more fun and games in the heartfelt and cozy Lucky Harbor where the guys are great: hot, loyal, caring, snarky, and sometimes clueless while the girls are damaged, beautiful, and defensive, and we get to enjoy the ride of supportive, funny, and loving people.

The Story
Her mother and sister are all over Olivia to do the retro show, Not Again, Hailey!, a job she is NOT interested in. She’s had her fill of Hollywood and wants nothing to do with it. Only her mama wants another breast surgery and isn’t shy about jamming guilt down Olivia’s throat while her sister wants… God forbid any of them actually go to work for a living.

Cole is known as the local McGyver, able to fix anything, and he capitalizes on this to make the moves on Olivia.

The Characters
Olivia Bentley, a.k.a., former child star Sharlyn Peterson, runs the thrift shop, Unique Boutique, in town and is best friends with Becca Thorpe, Sam's fiancée. She's also on the run from her previous life. One filled with paparazzi and greedy family members. Jolyn is Olivia's older sister, the jealous one who had wanted a Hollywood career. Tamilyn is, I think, Olivia's victim of a mother. A role she plays to the hilt. Mrs. Henderson had been her on-set tutor; she'd come from Lucky Harbor and had filled Olivia's head with tales.

The rigid, unbending, incredibly loyal Cole Donovan is one of three partners in Lucky Harbor Charters, a boat chartering operation that provides deep-sea fishing, whale watching, scuba diving…anything that involves the water, and he's the captain, chief navigator, mechanic, and face of the operations. Hey, he's the only one who can handle meeting new people! Amelia is his mother. The coven (his three sisters) include Clare (she's married to Mitch with a son, Jonathan), Cindy (she's married to Garrett, and they have a son, Kyle), and Cara (of the historical romances; she eloped with Ward). Their father, an attorney, died over a year ago.

Sam Brody is their financial guy and a custom boatbuilder who's hooked up with Becca in It's in His Kiss , 10. Tanner is their scuba diving instructor and communications expert. Elisa and Troy are Tanner's ex-wife and fifteen-year-old son. Gil was to have been the fourth partner, but he died back in the rig. Susan had been Cole's fiancée, and it took Gil's funeral for the truth to come out. Sierra is Susan's baby girl. Cole hasn't dated in the two years since. Mark is Sam's dad and working for the guys along with Becca (see It's in His Kiss ).

Callie Sharpe is a new tenant in the warehouse building where Olivia and Becca live and runs an online one-stop wedding website. She's also Lucille's granddaughter, here on a mission for her parents. Dr. Josh Scott is an old friend of the boys, and he agrees with the others: no work for at least a week.

Lucille heads up the Merry Pranksters, er, Eldsters, in this series, and she doesn't hold back now. She knows everything that goes on in Lucky Harbor, invents some of it, and keeps it all posted on Facebook, oops, I mean Tumblr since she got banned from Facebook. Mary and Mrs. Betty Dettinger come with Lucille to the Unique Boutique.

Lance is dying from cystic fibrosis and runs an ice cream stand on the pier with his brother, Tucker. Tiny, the six-foot-nine biker, owns the Ferris wheel and arcade. Pink and Kendra are twins (we met them in It's in His Kiss , 10) who love Drama Day. Jax Cullen ( Simply Irresistible , 1) owns the Love Shack along with Ford Walker (see The Sweetest Thing , 2).

The Cover
The cover is fine with Olivia perching on the boy bar as Cole pedals their way down a leaf-covered lane. It's Halloween in Lucky Harbor and the cover shows it.

It’s a title that could be applied to every book in this series, He’s So Fine, is every male so far, and Cole holds up his end of things, being a jack of so many trades and good at them all.

Lucky Harbor just keeps getting smooth as whiskey, silk over velvet and hard to walk away.

“He Is So Fine” is book #11 in Jill Shalvis’s Lucky Harbor Series and is another sizzling romance with Olivia Bentley and Cole Donovan crackling with passion and giving Lucille some fine material for her Tumbler and You Tube fixations!!! Can it be more sexy and funny for the residents of Lucky Harbor as they feed on the gossip with underlying love and concern for their own?

Olivia comes to Lucky Harbor to start fresh with a new identity leaving a devastating Hollywood life and a family that she really can’t relate to. Running a vintage store in Lucky Harbor, she’s careful to keep her distance and not make any long term relations. Living on borrowed time, she revels in running her store and creating endless fantasies and stories with the kids.

Cole runs the Lucky Harbor Charters along with his friends Sam and Tanner and is forever trying to stay clear of his coven of sisters, who have coddled him. He’s got a wonderful family and great business, but a painful past keeps him from having any long term relations, until Olivia literally jumps on his head in the seas with the intention of saving his life and knocks him flat….literally!

Cole and Olivia can’t deny the chemistry that’s been bubbling between them, and end up together. Cole believes in total honesty to the point of being rigid and unbendable…such a sweetheart…..and Olivia’s yet to come clean with Cole about her past.

Another beautiful love story in Lucky Harbor, as Olivia and Cole try to work out their misunderstandings and insecurities, put a closure to a past that seems to put the future at risk, and the confession of Olivia and Cole was an absolute treat to read.

Can’t wait for Tanner to get his heart stolen!!!!

Olivia changed her name and ran away from the past as quick as she could to Lucky Harbor. She captured someone else’s memories of Lucky Harbor and turned them into her new life as shop owner and citizen extraordinaire. Olivia had been used up by time she was 16 so grabbing onto a shop that turned her scripted life into a spontaneous moment of ecstasy. Cole Donovan survived the worst devastation with the loss of his friend but built a new life with the three remaining members of his entourage.

Their relationship may have started out in freezing waters but it heats up faster than sun as it bears down on them each day. Olivia never answers any direct questions Cole asks even when they are holding each other tight against the wind beating down the doors but he is not one to give up so easily. They have lives that surround them and bring them happiness but only together do they share joy and completely peace of heart. Cole does not hold well to lies and non-truths so the question becomes will Olivia tell the truth before the truth comes to town and tells on her?

Together these two find out that the best of what they are keeping hidden from one another is the secrets that set them free and make it impossible to walk away from the relationship.

This is book eleven in Jill Shalvis’ Lucky Harbor series. Lucky Harbor is more than just a place to live. It is a community of friends and neighbors that care about one another. Lucky Harbor is also a good place for wounded souls to heal and find solace. This is the story of two weary souls that not only find peace but also love.

Captain Cole Donovan returned to Lucky Harbor after an accident on the oil rig he worked on exploded and his best friend was killed. He started a charter business with two other friends in their home town of Lucky Harbor. Cole has been living, just existing for the past two years since the death of his friend and the betrayal of his ex-girlfriend. That is until one morning while doing repairs on his boat he slips and falls in and is then nearly drowned by the woman trying to save him. He ends up rescuing her and the feelings that surface between them are not ones that can be denied. Suddenly, Cole is alive again!

Olivia had always wanted to live in Lucky Harbor, well ever since her on-set tutor had told her about it. When she was finally able to escape the pressures of child stardom’s notoriety, she changed her name and moved to Lucky Harbor. She opened a business that specialized in unique vintage items and started her new life. Her life is complete and for the past two years filled with peace. That is until her psycho mom and crazy sister pressure her to once again return to life in Hollywood. Refusing to even consider leaving her new life behind she tries to ignore their demands and keep the past in the past. On her early morning walk she sees a man fall overboard and immediately jumps in to save him, only he’s not the one that needs saving, she is! The man that she is trying to rescue is none other than Cole Donovan, the man she has been crushing on.

Will the two be able to withstand the pressures of their past? Can Cole put aside his past betrayals and except the gift this is Olivia? Read this novel and find out about Olivia and Cole’s journey to find their HEA!

#11 in the Lucky Harbor series. I’m really going to miss this town after I read the next and final book in the series.

Olivia Bentley is new to Lucky Harbor. She lives in the same building as Becca from It’s In His Kiss. Right next door, in fact. And the walls are very thin, Olivia discovers. Very, very thin. Out for an early morning walk one day, she sees what she thinks is a man falling from his boat and needing help getting back to shore. Without hesitating, she jumps in to help him. Cole Donovan did fall off of his boat, but he was hardly in need of rescue. And if Olivia hadn’t jumped in directly on top of him, he may have accomplished that a little more easily. As it turns out, he ends up having to get both of them out of the water.

Olivia has secrets. Unfortunately for her, Cole’s number one requirement for anyone – friend, lover, sister, mother, whoever – is complete and total honesty. This was the only part that didn’t work for me completely. I get Cole’s need for honesty. I can even understand why it’s so much of an absolute for him. But I also understood Olivia keeping her past a secret. It wasn’t anything that could potentially cause Cole problems, it wasn’t anything criminal or immoral. And, to be completely fair, she didn’t lie about it. She just didn’t tell him. Keeping that secret been her MO since she left her previous life behind and moved to Lucky Harbor. There was one outright lie she told, and Cole did find out about that and did not react well, but he was more upset about what she didn’t tell him at all. And, frankly, it’s something that Cole could have found out in about five minutes on Google, and who doesn’t Google new people in their lives anymore?

But before Olivia’s secret came out, Cole and Olivia had fantastic chemistry. They know each other, at least casually, since their respective best friends are dating, and Olivia has spent more than one morning with Becca watching the guys surf and work on their boat. But from the minute she jumps in the water, everything is different. Their every touch and kiss fairly sizzled on the page. Olivia’s secret was hanging over them, though, and it got a little tiresome listening to her think to herself that she really needed to tell Cole the truth, but knew he wouldn’t understand, but she really had to tell him, then not tell him. That went on a little longer than it probably should have until it predictably blew up in her face. I’ve noticed this happening a lot, not just in Shalvis books. It’s difficult in today’s time, in a book set in America or the UK or somewhere similar, to come up with a realistic reason for a couple who wants to be together not to be. So the authors seem to drag out whatever conflict they’ve come up with long enough for the stakes to be as high as possible. If Olivia had told Cole about her past as soon as they started dating, he would have said “Ok” and the story would have been fine. I don’t mean this to be a knock. It has to be really tough to make these conflicts work these days.

The cast of side characters was pretty standard for Jill Shalvis. Cole has, I think, 3 sisters and a mother, all of whom he’s very close to. One of his sisters has a secret she’s hiding from the rest of the family, and, predictably, Cole is not on board with this. He’s not going to betray her and spill everything himself, but he makes it clear to her on several different occasions that she needs to come clean. His family was interfering but well-meaning, and fully on the side of Cole and Olivia getting together.

There was also the standard cast of Lucky Harbor residents, couples from previous book popping up to let us know they’re still doing well. I really like that Jill Shalvis manages to do this in her books without actually making all of these people full characters in each book. I like the little appearances and sightings, but can’t imagine trying to keep up with all of them in every single book. Looking at you, JR Ward. Lucille was sticking her nose in everyone’s business and posting everything that happens in Lucky Harbor to various social media sites. The next book features Lucille’s granddaughter Callie, and I’m really looking forward to that one.

The Lucky Harbor Series is a set of companion novels that can each be read as a standalone, and has become one of those series that gives you that feeling of receiving a special treat each time a new installment comes out. He's so Fine is one of those special treats. Once again set in the beautiful town of Lucky Harbor, we get to read Cole and Oliva's story. If you've read any of the previous novels, you will recognize who Cole Donovan is. We briefly met Olivia in It's In His Kiss. Cole, Sam, and Tanner run a boat charter company and happen to be three of the sexiest guys in town. Olivia lives in the old warehouse next door which has been converted into several apartments. Olivia also runs a little vintage shop in town. She is a bit of a recluse, but she has her reason for being this way. She is also a really sweet and caring person, despite what she did and who she was in her younger years. Hiding and keeping her secret has been a way of life for her, a way of surviving, never allowing her to get too close to anyone.....that is until Cole comes into her life. Cole Donovan is a hot sexy surfer who is one of the most stand-up guys you'll ever meet. He also values honesty and expects it from those he cares about. Cole had a bad relationship experience several years prior, having been hurt much deeper that he has ever let on, and has avoided relationships and women for the past 2 years.....until he meets Olivia. Everything seems good, until secrets once buried come bubbling to the surface and then explode like a geyser. Both Olivia and Cole have to face some tough decisions about their lives and their future, and whether they can remain together after it's all said and done.

To say these two have chemistry is putting it mildly, and the way they meet is both entertaining, endearing, and of course hot. I really enjoyed both characters and as is Jill Shalivs' trademark style, she provides her readers with a romance that will make you laugh, smile, swoon, and root for the characters involved in the story. I love that we also get to see glimpses of other characters from previous series as well. He's So Fine is another wonderful contemporary romance that I thoroughly enjoyed, one which will "take you away" for several hours as you disappear into the the world of Lucky Harbor and enjoy the ride. If you've never read anything by Jill Shalvis, I certainly would encourage you to do so if you are a contemporary romance fan. She's quickly become one of my favorite authors and I've loved everything I've read by her so far.

REVIEWED BY SUNNY (originally posted on Kindles & Wine Book Blog)

As the official summary reads, Olivia Bentley had to "save" a man from drowning. What an interesting way for her to officially meet Cole Donovan, a man who can, as it turns out, swim better than most. I loved this classic Jill Shalvis scene, which helped Olivia earn her nickname, Supergirl. That is all I can say so this review can remain spoiler-free, but for me, it proved to be a brilliant way to start another great Lucky Harbor novel.

Olivia already knew of Cole due to the fact that she lives in the warehouse apartments right next to Lucky Harbor Charters, which he owns with his buddies Sam and Tanner. Even though she was trying to start a new life in Lucky Harbor, I could tell how much her past haunted her and drove her actions throughout. I was really rooting for Olivia in this story and really liked what she stood for, especially as she started getting involved and doing things for the community. Unfortunately, the doubt that Olivia lets into her thoughts dominated her. Here is a specific excerpt that demonstrated her expectations (or lack thereof) about falling in love with Cole:

----------
The falling for someone and having them walk - that she couldn't handle. Cole, with his tight-knit friends and family and perfect small-town life, was so far out of her league she couldn't even see the league.
----------

With this thinking, Cole and Olivia were doomed before they even started, and it was evident throughout how strong her fear was to let someone in. That was frustrating, because it caused some confusion for them, even after their first spark-filled kiss:

----------
Staring at him, she put her fingers to her own lips. "That was..."

Spectacular, he thought. Heart-pounding. Perfect--

"Interesting," she finally said.

He stared at her and then had to laugh. "You're not easy on the ego."

She made it worse by smiling. "I'm sorry."

"Yeah, I can see that." But he couldn't help smiling, too, as he turned to go. "'Night, Olivia."

She didn't say anything, so he turned back to look at her. She was standing there in the doorway, lit only by the moonlight. But he didn't need to see her face to know she was still looking a little dazed.
Which was only fair. He was dazed all the way into next week.

"Bye," came her soft whisper.

"I said good night," he said, "not bye."

"What's the difference?"

"A whole hell of a lot," he said.

"Not to me." And then she slipped inside, the click of the lock sounding in the night.

A challenge.
----------

Yes, Cole was up for a challenge! Cole was introduced in It's in His Kiss (Lucky Harbor Book 10), and I became intrigued by his unfailing dedication to his friends. This got me excited to see him develop in a romantic relationship and to understand what made him tick in HE'S SO FINE. Cole proved to have many great qualities. I loved how he was so honest and trustworthy. When someone needed something, he showed up. I loved that about him! He was even Olivia's fix-it man a couple of times. He could be counted on. He was struggling from an injury and had to take some time off work, and that was killing him! He needed to contribute to the business and was so bothered that he couldn't.

In It's in His Kiss (Lucky Harbor Book 10), the first book in this trilogy, there was mention of an accident that deeply affected Cole. More of that story is revealed in this book. It became evident why Cole is more rigid in life and in his expectations of others. When he let people in, he was all-in, but he expected the same in return. So when Olivia wasn't willing to open up, that confused him a lot. Olivia recognized her cowardice and regretted it later, even though she had been warned in the following excerpt by Cindy, Cole's sister:

----------
"Word to the wise," she said. "My brother's a very honest sort of guy. To the core." She paused and gave Olivia a long look. "And he expects the same out of the people he lets in. Trust me, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to live up to his expectations."
----------

This was a very important aspect of Olivia and Cole's story and I loved how it all came together in the end. Even though there were struggles throughout, I loved the chemistry between the two. I loved the growth Shalvis allowed each character as their attraction drew them together and changed their thinking. And while the end was a bit abrupt for me, it was a very heartfelt conclusion.

For those who haven't read any Lucky Harbor books, you could read this as a stand-alone, but I found it to be a great follow-up to It's in His Kiss (Lucky Harbor Book 10). As the resident "series girl" on Kindles & Wine, I would read that one first. For those who have read It's in His Kiss (Lucky Harbor Book 10), I loved how Becca (Sam's girlfriend and Olivia's friend), Sam, and Tanner added to this story, as well as a new face to the warehouse, Callie. Lucille was also up to her shenanigans once again in HE'S SO FINE. For those who haven't read Lucky Harbor yet, here is a perfect example and description of the beloved Lucille in Cole's point of view:

----------
He was pulling out his spare duffel, which had a stash of clothes, when he heard a soft intake of breath followed immediately by the unmistakable click of a camera lens.

He whirled around and found the devil in the form of a barely five-foot-tall old woman named Lucille.

Lucille ran the local geriatric band of merry bluehairs and the gossip train with equal aplomb, and rumor had it that her internal elevator didn't serve all her floors. Today her rheumy eyes were sharp as a tack, her lips hooker red. This somehow worked with her capri yoga pants and snug athletic top, neither of which hid the fact that gravity hadn't been especially kind to her.

"What are you up to?" he asked her suspiciously.

He had good reason for the suspicion. A few weeks back she'd managed to catch him and Tanner stripping down behind their warehouse after surfing. Instead of apologizing, or, say, leaving, she'd stood there gumming her dentures while trying to talk them into posing for an "tasteful" nude show at her art gallery.

The woman needed her hormone levels checked.
----------

I have always loved Lucille's antics and the impact they have on the characters of Lucky Harbor!

If you haven't gathered this yet, I loved HE'S SO FINE. When Cole's and Olivia's pasts collided with the present, Shalvis worked her magic. All of the well-written aspects of the characters and their stories allowed Cole and Olivia to put their pieces together and form a beautiful picture, one that even Lucille would be proud to post on her many social media sites.

BOTTOM LINE
This is another Lucky Harbor hit, especially if you have at least read It's in His Kiss (Lucky Harbor Book 10) (Sam's story). I loved Cole and Olivia's struggles and journey. Between high expectations and an embarrassing past, Shalvis provides growth for her characters, which made for another great read!

RATING: A- (4½ stars)

I absolutely adore the Lucky Harbor series and He’s So Fine was such a touching romantic tale about two people finding love while overcoming the hurt of past relationships. Olivia Bentley came to Lucky Harbor to start over with a normal life and leave her famous television past behind her. She had a successful business but knows that something is missing in her life until she meets sexy Cole Donovan. Cole would love to get to know Olivia better but the pain of his past prevents him from truly trusting the love that is right in front of him. When her past finally comes to light, Cole may throw everything away because he can’t let go of the past relationship that he thought he had left behind.

I really liked Olivia from the very beginning of the book. She wanted desperately to create a new life for herself and get people to like her because of who she was now, instead of who she was in her past. Her family kept hounding her to do a reunion special to cash in on the television character that she was and seemed to have no interest in actually spending time with Olivia. Only getting what they felt she “owed” them, which made me extremely angry. I hate people that try to take advantage of others and Olivia deserved so much more than that. She gave her heart completely to Cole but she knew in the back of her mind that once he found out the truth about who she really was, he would run the other way.

Cole seemed to have everything figured out and he just kept going on with his life without dealing with a past betrayal. He cared about Olivia but always seemed to be holding back and waiting for her to make a mistake. He used that past relationship as a compass for love and if anything in that relationship wasn’t completely true then the whole thing was a lie in his eyes. He had to learn that everything isn’t always black and white and Olivia never once made him feel that her love wasn’t the real thing. She hid her past because she wanted something that was real, not something that was tainted and a mirage created due to her television childhood. The ending of this book made me cry because Olivia’s past and future came together in a good way and Cole finally realized what he always had right in front of him.

It's funny, but my adoration for Jill Shalvis' books only seems to grow with every new one I read!!

Cole Donovan is the second of the three friends who run a charter boat company in Lucky Harbor to be hit with the love bug. A straight shooter and a bit of a nerd, slash, handyman, Cole is always prepared for eventualities. The one thing he hadn't counted on was to be bowled over by the somewhat eccentric owner of the local vintage store. But, as Cole does, he rolls with the punches. And although he has been inactive on the love front since a fatal accident left him not only bereaved, but betrayed, Olivia manages to clear out the cobwebs with one bat of her eyelashes.

Basking in her newfound anonymity in Lucky Harbor, Olivia Bently is finally living life on her terms. her vintage shop brings her pleasure and ensures the bills are paid, and the daily view of the eyecandy across the street provides for her entertainment. If not for the texts and phonecalls reminding her of the life she left behind, she could almost be happy. But the pressure is on to return to her so called 'responsibilities', something she wants nothing more to do with. And complicating it is one particular piece of 'candy' by the name of Cole, with whom she had rather reluctantly formed a connection. More than ever, she battles to keep her old life and her new one here in Lucky Harbor separated. But life has a way of catching up with you at the most inappropriate moments......

As usual, Jill creates delightful characters, just shy of perfect. Individuals with flaws that are relatively easy to understand and not that difficult to forgive. Simply because they are so damn loveable! The story is deliciously romantic and positively swoon-worthy, with the perfectly timed and portioned amount of humor to prevent the book from becoming too saccharine.... which would be a big turn off for me!

It's all about the balance, and Jill Shalvis knows exactly how to set those scales sharply. As a reader I know I will never go wrong when I grab one of her titles; As a blogger I feel confident that when I recommend a book by her hand, my followers will get a quality read, and; As a writer I hope to one day achieve only a fraction of the apparent ease with which Jill Shalvis creates her alternate worlds.

✨Spunky, vivacious and oh so sexy!!✨

Armed with a new name former child star Olivia moved to Lucky Harbor with the dual purpose of losing and finding herself. Growing up in Hollywood with all the positives and negatives that comes with that, has lead her to become a very guarded and weary individual. Lying by omission has become her new mantra as friendships and relationships start developing, despite her best efforts. Cole is a native of Lucky Harbor who runs a charter business with two of his bestfriends. A few years ago with the death of a very close friend, secrets came out that his girlfriend and now deceased friend were perhaps not bickering because they didn't like each other. As a consequence, Cole has a very rigid line in the sand when it comes to any untruths. When Cole and Olivia meet chemistry instantly binds them together as past issues lurk to tear them apart.

While this is the 11th installment of the Lucky Harbor series I, finally, felt like it was fresh and had something new to offer, something that has been missing in the previous books for me. Even though families and all the issues that come with them was still a large part of this story, as it has been with all the other books in this series, there was energy to He's So Fine that pulled me into the story. The story dives right in (literally) as Olivia and Cole meet right away and produce sparks. They are always front and center and definitely have the chemistry to pull it off. Olivia has a big heart but never veers into sickening sweet and Cole is the everyday man that just so happens to be gorgeous and be able to give MacGyver a run for his money. Let's just say the man has the knowledge and a multitude of tools in his pants that are bound to impress. While Olivia and Cole have lead vastly different lives, they seem to have the same issues, trust, and ultimately are searching for the same thing in life, security with that special someone; this is what makes them work so well as a couple and enjoyable to read about.

Past main characters and townspeople (can't leave out Lucille!) are mentioned enough to bring a smile to dedicated fans of the series but not overwhelming enough to confuse any new comers. This is an easy and enjoyable enough read that if you have the time you'll want to read it all in one sitting. The ending wraps up a little too quickly as Cole's PTSD issues with the fire and explosion he was involved in with and Olivia's family drama are never truly resolved. I really liked this couple so maybe this is just me being greedy and wanting more of them. Anyway, I've previously complained that the latter Lucky Harbor books were all starting to run together but am happy to report Ms. Shalvis has stepped up her game again with this one. There is a huge infusion of sweet and sassy into the story and characters that have made He's So Fine one of my favorites of the series. I'm once again watching the calendar for the next installment which will feature Tanner the bad boy ex-Navy SEAL.

We met Olivia in the previous Lucky Harbor installment, It's in His Kiss , when she moved next door to Becca.

She was guarded and as soon as she stepped into the scene I was curious to know her story. Having two other Lucky Harbor bachelors that she could be paired with made for some interesting assumptions on my part. Would it be the mysterious Tanner or the laid-back Cole? Either way I knew it would be an interesting story since both men exhibited intriguing personalities.

Cole surprised me from the very beginning. I had thought of him as a more laid back member of the pack of bachelors who owned the their own boat chartering business. But leave it to Jill Shalvis to give him a sensitive heart and a caring nature. I loved him! He was funny, charming and when he cared he felt deeply. What's not to love?!

Olivia was an great character in her own right. Although troubled about her past and preoccupied in guarding her secret, she cared for hew new-found friends and also had a great heart. Which was was led her to 'meet' Cole. Sure they had met in passing and she had admired him from afar, but it wasn't until they ended up tangled in a mess of wet limbs that they truly took notice of one another.

I have to say that first scene alone was epic! I laughed out loud, snorting Diet Coke all over my tablet. Jill Shalvis always finds a way to make even the most complicated and embarrassing moments fun and memorable.

Do I even need to tell you about their chemistry? Pffft! As if the author would write it any different. These two shared some sizzling moments by just looking at each other or being in each other's presence. So you can imagine how hot their encounters came to be when they gave into their physical attraction. And when their emotions came into play? Fantastic!

However, my favorite moments where those where they opened themselves to the other. Cole and Olivia were guarded and kept most people at bay, but the connection they had couldn't be set aside. They were drawn to each other and whenever they interacted that connection strengthened and grew. It was a treat to see how, slowly but surely, they came to rely on each other for comfort. And it was just as frustrating and sad to see how they tried so hard to keep their feelings at bay.

I also enjoyed seeing Sam, Becca and Tanner again in addition to meeting Cole's family. Each of these characters added something to the story or helped to reveal another side of the main characters that we had not gotten to see. Especially Cole's. Of course, this wouldn't be a Lucky Harbor story if Lucille weren't there keeping tabs on everybody. Once again I enjoyed her presence and the light moments she brought to the story.

All in all, a sweet yet hot little read. Another great addition to the Lucky Harbor series--I can't wait for Tanner's story now!

Title: He's So Fine

Series: Lucky Harbor bk 11

Author: Jill Shalvis

Genre: Contemporary

For Olivia Bentley, Lucky Harbor is more than the town where she runs her new vintage shop. It's the place where folks are friendly to strangers-and nobody knows her real name. Olivia does a good job of keeping her past buried, not getting too cozy with anyone . . . until she sees a man drowning. Suddenly she's rushing into the surf, getting up close and personal with the hottest guy she's ever laid hands on.

Charter boat captain Cole Donovan has no problem with a gorgeous woman throwing her arms around his neck in an effort to "save" him. In fact, he'd like to spend a lot more time skin-to-skin with Olivia. He's just not expecting that real trouble is about to come her way. Will it bring her deeper into Cole's heart, or will it be the end of Olivia's days in little Lucky Harbor?

Thoughts: Picking up a Lucky Harbor book is liking going home to the small town you grew up in and couldn't escape fast enough, and then spend years missing.

In It's in His Kiss we got meet Cole and Olivia and I have to admit that even though I knew they would be hooking up I wasn't sure HOW it was going to happen considering how little time they spent on the pages together. But I should have trust Shalvis would have a plan and make it work, because boy did she.

Both Olivia and Cole are hiding out. Olivia from her past, and Cole from all emotions. Both have been burned in the past and have no desire to repeat. So they agree to a simple affair, only there is no such thing as a simple affair in Lucky Harbor especially if you have Lucille stalking you.

Watching these two traverse their relationship, both insisting on full trust, and yet each of them holding back was quite the balancing act. When Cole finally reveals all and lays it all out there, Olivia tries to reciprocate and yet can't, always saying now's not the right time.

One of the things I loved about this book was the mention of how Lucille has been sent to FB jail because of what she has posted and how she's now addicted to Pinterest and Tumblr. I will admit that I immediately stopped reading and went and followed Jill on both those sites.

This was a great installment in one of my favorite contemporary series. I can't wait to see what happens with Tanner, Sam and Cole's best friend and Lucille's granddaughter in the next book.

~Reviewed by ANN & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog

Olivia Bentley is what she goes by now. For a time, Olivia used to be a fresh face in Hollywood where her TV show was a smashing success until she got older. Tired of that life and the scrutiny involved with it, she runs to Lucky Harbor to open up a vintage shop, hoping to remain unnoticed within the crowd. What she doesn’t know is that it’s hard to remain under the radar in Lucky Harbor especially when you have the attention of Cole Donovan, aka Captain Hottie.

Suffering from traumatic stress after an electrical shock has Cole almost “drowning” in the water. But fear not! Olivia jumps in to save him. Only she isn’t the Supergirl she claims to be, especially when she needs to be saved herself when she realized she can’t get him out. Much like the other books by Jill Shalvis, there a lot of laughs to be had in this book. Not only does the book start off with an outrageously funny and adorable scene, but it really sets the tone of the book.

Cole’s book explores a little more about the friendship between Sam, Tanner and Cole and how they became so close and started this business together in memory of their good mate, Gil. However, there is more to it too. Cole’s girlfriend of three years, Susan has leaves her mark on Cole and maybe not in the best way. This insight really opened up a lot of things in terms of Cole’s character and I think it really added a lot of depth to him. I always find that Shalvis is able to create such endearing characters with each book in the series.

I can safely say that this last trio of books remind me a lot of the first three books in the series, all of which are among my favorites. I feel like Shalvis has a plan as she writes this and it’s because of that direction that I believe the books are better for it. Each character has room to grow and by the end of the book, you’re not only falling in love along with the characters, but you’re also learning new things about life in general too.

HE’S SO FINE is filled with Jill Shalvis’s charming humor, her distinct small-town feel and of course, unforgettable characters.

There are few things I love more than cracking open a new Lucky Harbor novel. Jill Shalvis always delivers a wonderfully funny, utterly charming romance that just makes you happy you’ve read it. He’s So Fine lives up to the Lucky Harbor promise. It’s fast, fun, and has a whole lot of heart.

I’ll admit up front that I love every one of Ms. Shalvis’s heroes, so it’s no surprise that I adored Cole. He’s sexy, handy with tools, a loyal friend, and a genuinely good man. That being said, he’s not without his flaws. Though he’s got a relaxed attitude most of the time, he can be a bit rigid, and I enjoyed watching him grow as a character. Cole meets his match in every way in Olivia, his best friend’s fiancée’s neighbor who (accidentally) almost drowns him when they first meet. Olivia grabbed my heart from the first. She’s trying to make a life for herself in Lucky Harbor and is doing her best to put her past behind her by keeping it a secret. Olivia has never known true loyalty or real love, which means she screws up sometimes with Cole. But she’s got a wealth of love to give and I teared up a time or two in He’s So Fine when Olivia inched out of her shell and made connections with others. Olivia is a woman who has earned her second chance at happiness, and I wanted her to find it with Cole. The two of them have sensational chemistry in bed and out, and I laughed, sighed, and swooned over their romance.

It wouldn’t be a Lucky Harbor story if I didn’t mention the supporting characters. With each book I look forward to catching up with the residents of Lucky Harbor almost as much as I anticipate loving the main couple’s journey to happily ever after. Fans of the series will surely adore the antics of Lucille, and it was lovely to visit with the twins Pink and Kendra (introduced in Once in a Lifetime) again. Cole’s family – newer additions to the series – delight every time they’re on the page, and I cannot fail to mention Cole’s best friends, Sam and Tanner, and Olivia’s new friends, Becca and Callie. These friendships are integral to He’s So Fine, and they not only provide a lot of the laughs, but are also a portrait of true love and loyalty in their own right.

I did finish He’s So Fine with a few lingering questions (that I can’t address without spoiling things), which kept the story from being a perfect read. Still, as it stands, He’s So Fine is top-notch entertainment. I loved Olivia and Cole and I can’t wait to revisit their romance again and again and again!

He's So Fine is standard contemporary fare. Hero and heroine both harbor secrets and misunderstandings, but come together with a fiery passion; only to have those secrets come to light and the misunderstandings get turned on their head, causing heartache and sorrow for both characters. Then some growing up happens, and all is resolved neatly and pleasantly.

If you're looking for a comfortable, predictable, open door romance set in a small town, this is it. Enjoy yourself!

If you're looking for something a little different, something that stands out and sticks with you after the book is over ... this isn't the book you're looking for. Move along.

I gave this book three stars because it is written well, is more believable than not, and is filled with some pretty terrific secondary characters. If Olivia's mother and sister could have been less stereotypical "bad guys," I would have enjoyed it more. If Cole hadn't acted with eye-rolling predictability when the big secret comes out, I'd have liked it better. The way in which they "met" was too foolish to be believed. And finally I am So. Stinking, Tired. of the "if you learn my secret you'll leave me" trope. Enough already. Put on your big girl undies and be honest from the beginning.

I did enjoy most of Olivia's inner monologues. Those had me laughing a few times.

Favorite quote: "There was something about him, as if just Cole being Cole somehow reached her deep inside and ... lit up her dark places.

My Review:
This book had such an amazing back story that I really liked. Olivia was a child star, playing a nine year old on a sitcom...until she hit puberty and then her world, including her family, abandoned her. She didn't handle that well at all, but you know, EVERY single person in her life left her because she wasn't the star anymore. That doesn't do a lot for one's self-worth. My heart hurt so much for her and the scars she has. Now she's left that world behind and reinvented herself as another person. She never wants to be that person again and would be happy if no one ever knows about her past, but you know how secrets go in stories like this. She also works VERY HARD to keep her distance from people. If she doesn't get attached then she can't get hurt.

Cole doesn't really have secrets although they've surrounded him...some more are revealed throughout this story. As a result, he doesn't trust easily. You can see where this story is going from the very beginning with the secrets that Olivia is keeping, but I loved it all the same. I liked both Olivia and Cole. They are both so prickly, but can't fight the attraction between them. I also loved Olivia's gumption. Her actions in that opening scene on the boat and the peeking were awesome. I just kept laughing out loud through that scene and every time it was brought up afterwards.

I've loved this entire series, but I love these three women living in the warehouse with the non-existant insulation and how intertwined that makes all of them in each others' love lifes. But the incredible view of the charter boat hotties makes up for the sometimes uncomfortable living conditions. I loved the images of Olivia's store and her fascination with items that have a story. And the little side-story with the twins and the dress-up clothes...LOVE!

As always, this was another great edition in this series. Any of these books work as a standalone, but I recommend the entire series. ALL these books have been incredible.

Quick summary
Cole Donovan is a dream and everyone seems to adore him. He's a good friend and is the consummate handyman, always equipped with whatever tools needed to fix something on the spot. But, he's just running in place after having been dumped by his girlfriend two years ago. That is until Olivia Bentley comes to his rescue, even though he didn't believe he needed saving.

The big issue
Olivia's keeping a whopper of a secret and she's developing a relationship with a man who believes in complete honesty. Cole's an open book and she's struggling with when or whether to fess up. Either way, given her history, she believes he'll walk away no matter what.

What works
Cole is just wonderful. He seems perfect...great sense of humor, handy, gorgeous and finely built...but he's got a little tarnish in him. He loves his family and hangs in there with Olivia even when she blocks him time and again. Their romance smokes and his relationship with his partners is another bonus. The dialogue is pithy and the banter clever. My only quibble was with Olivia's failure to come clean far earlier than she did. Cole gave her plenty of openings and it was a bit frustrating.

The bottom line
Cole may just be my favorite in this series. It's a fun, sexy story with a tragic heroine who recreates herself nicely with a man who's worthy of her trust. I just wish that conflict wasn't protracted and more time was devoted to Cole's issues. No matter, though, as I thoroughly enjoyed the story. It's always a treat to return to Lucky Harbor.

When we are thinking about our lives, how many of us create a story about who we are or think we want to be. In Olivia Bentley’s case, she has created a new life in Lucky Harbor. While she is making this town her new home, she tends to keep most at a distance. After all, doesn’t everyone leave anyway?

Then one day, everything changes. Olivia jumps into the freezing cold water to “save” Cole Donavan from drowning. From the moment they are huddled (naked) on his boat trying to keep warm, the sparks started to fly between the two. It is soon apparent to all around the two that Cole and Olivia are starting something that neither one of them might truly be ready for. You see, Olivia is not the only one dealing with their own personal issues with trust and relationships. Cole is still holding on to a deep cut from his last relationship. Not to mention his feelings about his friend Gil’s death.

With both of them having their own hangups about their past, with Cole and Olivia be able to have their Happily Ever After?

In this latest installment of the Lucky Harbor Series, Jill Shalvis doesn’t disappoint. She brings all the goodies that we have known in the past and come to love. Part of the reason why I love Jill’s books is the humor, the romance, and above all the reality she brings to her characters. She allows them to be flawed which makes them relatable. To be honest, I have been reading the series for a while now, and each time I come back, I love the town and the characters more that I thought I could. When I sit and curl up with one of these books, it is like an escape and going home at the same time. And for that, I with always take a trip Lucky Harbor every time a new book comes out.

Both Olivia Bentley and Cole Donovan are carrying around a lot of extra baggage. Neither wants a relationship. Neither is ready for a relationship. But the fates intervened. When Cole, is working on his charter boat, an unexpected shock sends him over the edge and into the cold waters of the bay. Thinking he needs rescuing, Olivia dives in to try and save him. What began as an heroic, but mis-guided gesture, starts the slow burn of sexual attraction between these two. But how can a man who thinks he has been burned by his last girlfriend, and a woman who comes from a dysfunctional family and doesn’t trust herself to love, come together??
Author Jill Shalvis is a master of dialogue. The conversation between her characters is so very believable. I thoroughly enjoyed the comic relief of town octogenarian Lucille and her zingers. This story captured me completely and I was rooting for these two wounded individuals. The only part of this story that didn’t seem true, was the relationship between Cole, Tanner, and Sam. These guys had known each other forever, and after starting their charter boat company together, I thought Cole would have gotten over his ‘mad’ at these guys…guys that he trusted with his life.

All that being said…I can’t wait for the next book in the Lucky Harbor series to come out. Thanks Jill, for another home run of a book. You had me from page one and kept me glued to the pages throughout the whole book.

I think I could just start each Lucky Harbor book by giving it 5 stars. Somehow I missed this one when I was reading the series, but I quickly corrected my mistake. I could not leave Cole Donovan out of the list of Lucky Harbor Hotties.

Cole's family dynamic is everything Olivia always wanted, but never knew a family could be. After years of being alternately used and abandoned by her family, Olivia is in awe of the way Cole puts himself out for his sisters and his mother. He's steady and solid when all she has known is the exact opposite.

Olivia is a strong-willed loner with a generous heart. Cole is a happy-go-lucky, hard-working male with past hurts he tries to cover with smiles. They need each other, but first they must each find a way to trust in themselves.

Jill Shalvis writes such perfectly flawed characters. They live is a wonderful town that anyone would want to be a part of. He's so fine continues the tradition of hot, alpha males falling for cute quirky ladies, all of whom have some form of emotional baggage from their past. You would think that theme would get old after 11 or twelve books, but Shalvis has a gift. She has created each couple to be special in their own way and I've fallen in love with each and every one of them.

REVIEW:
He’s So Fine is Cole & Olivia’s story. We met both of them in It’s In His Kiss (bk 10). Cole & Olivia’s story starts with a big bang and a splash that leaves them in a bit of an interesting situation. And the story just keeps getting better from there. Gosh, I want to tell you so much. But I am really big on no spoilers. So let’s say Cole is a man who is always ready to jump in to fix everyone and everything. And always has some very interesting things in his pants. Olivia is a woman who just wants a new start and wants to live as herself for the first time in her life.

I totally adore Jill Shalvis and her books!! I am totally in love with Lucky Harbor and am on a journey to find this town. I absolutely loved Cole & Olivia’s story. My only fault with this book is that it ended way too soon. Want wanted more of these two. I wanted to see what happened after..... well I can’t tell you that. So you need to pick up a copy of He’s So Fine and find out yourself.

I can’t wait for the next Lucky Harbor story.

I love everything Jill Shalvis writes, and this one might be my new favorite! Jill Shalvis writes sexy, funny and addicting romance. Cole had his heart broken years ago, and is perfectly happy being a bachelor. Working with his two best friends, life couldn't get much better. Olivia was falling in love with Lucky Harbor. Her favorite part has to be watching Cole working at Lucky Harbor Charters. She moved to Lucky Harbor to forget about her previous life as a child star. She has even changed her name hoping the public would forget who she was. The more Olivia gets to know people in town, the more her past haunts her. She doesn't want anyone to discover her previous life. Cole values trust and honesty above all else. Once he finds out who she really is could it be too late? He's So Fine is a fun and steamy romance with great characters. I highly recommend this book and this series.

Olivia Bentley loves Lucky Harbor. Her name is an invention, as is the story she tells people. How she feels for Cole Donovan is real, though she is afraid to admit it to herself. Why? Cole doesn't believe in lies, and Olivia hasn't told him the truth if lies are by omission.

While debating with herself what to do, she falls deeper in love with Cole, something she wants but also fears.
And when her mother and sister insist that Olivia revert to her real name and come back to Hollywood to do a retrospective show, she refuses. She doesn't want to go back to who she was before.

Her hopes of staying in her new persona are threatened when her sister suddenly shows up. Now what's she going to do if Cole learns about her past? Will he leave her, as she predicted? And if he does, how will she survive yet another person who has deserted her?

I loved Cole he finds entertainment in the oddest of situations, "he didn't even try to hide it. "A beautiful woman just ordered me to strip," he said. "but not because she wants my body. It's funny, so yeah, I'm smiling." Olivia is the cutest thing, there is seriously no way to describe her but that:
At his soft laugh, her gaze jerked up to his face. "I'm just worried about your shoulder."
"Is that why you were staring at my abs?"
Sometimes the things she says comes out all wrong making intense situations hilarious, "so on top of a screwdriver and some duct tape, you also carry a flashlight. What else do you keep in your pants?" He grinned, and she blushed. "You know what I mean!" she said, clapping a hand to her cheeks. "Oh, never mind. Candles. I'm getting candles." I loved the sense of humor Cole had, "nah," he said. "It's fun. We have extra gear, if you wanna join. Except no trying to save me. Copping a feel? Hell, yeah, go for it all you want. But no rescuing." I can't wait for the next and sadly last one in the series.
