Diana Gabeldon is an incredible storyteller. Anything she writes is absolutely wonderful. This is just an " aside" to the wonderful Outlander" series - about one of the characters in her series, but more of his own story.

This author never disappoints. She has interesting characters and her view from the different sides of the warring parties make it even better. My only complaint: I wanted more; its is a very short read.

Best story (entire Outlander series)I have ever read, or will read. Unless it's written by Diana Gabaldon, of course. She is The Best Author! Outlander is the best story (s). I read them all 2 or 3 times! Thank you Diana, please continue with Outlander, I'm addicted to this story( s)!
and Written in My Own Heart's Blood (Outlander) - The Companion to The Fiery Cross :: The Rules of Dreaming :: Dodsworth (Library of America #133) - Elmer Gantry :: Babbitt (Xist Classics) :: Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade - The Scottish Prisoner (Lord John Grey)

Read all of the Outlander novels-some more than once. Got hooked on Lord John from the beginning. The humor and situations in the Lord John stories are always entertaining. I feel like I'm still part of the Frazier family even if only vicariously. I'm so excited about the upcoming novel. Hurry Diana!

Really enjoyed this, as I have all the other Outlander books. There just aren't enough of them. Lord John Grey is a great character and his adventures are a nice addition to the basic Outlander storyline.

As a hardcore Gabaldon follower, I read every word she writes! Though not my favorite of her stories, it's still great writing and I love anything that holds me over until the next "big book" comes out!

As an addicted Gabaldon fan, I was not disappointed. While being thoroughly entertained, I'm absorbing the history that never interested me while in school. Lord John Grey has become more of a 'friend' with each adventure. Awaiting more of the same.

I love Diana Gabaldon's books. This book fits in really well with the rest of her Lord John books. It is a novella- it is short, but very well done.
If you have not read the other Lord John books or any of the Outlander books, do not start with this one.

I really do enjoy her books. I like the diversity of characters in the Outlander books but Lord John is great. It is very interesting to see who and what he is before the events in the other series. Bureau!!!

Diana Gabaldon's books are a wonderful escape into the 18th century.
Her research into the subject matter is very thorough and sometimes thought provoking.
I admire the way the author get the reader involved and like her ways of introducing little
bits of foreign languages and keep you guessing what they mean.
The reader feels like a player - he is part of the scene and acts on the emotions and feelings of the characters
in the book. It absolutely absorbes the reader and leaves one wanting more.

This is a nice Lord John tale - something to take true "Outlander" fans through to the next book. Lord John is one of my favorite characters and I enjoy these stories that do such a nice job of filling in story gaps that I didn't even realize existed.

True to Diana Gabaldon's form, this novella has elements of multiple genres and can't be classified as one in particular. Loved the action, a little touch of romance, dry humor, and history. I never turn down any book written by DG!

Diana Gabaldon is one of my favorite Authors to start with. I know I am in for a good read. This book gives more information on Lord John Gray and his reason for leaving England. Would recommend it to historical romance book lovers.

Compared to her other books this one just seemed so incomplete. This is the first book in the Lord John series that I've read and will probably be the last. Not a big fan of Grey but thought I'd give it a try.

As usual, Diana's writing is hilarious and entertaining. The electric eel parties and posh lives of the characters is entertaining and just a fun read. It's a really short book, I read it on a flight from Seattle to Atlanta in one go. And I laughed out loud on the plane! The characters are those we already know and love, with a few more thrown in for good measure.
