The entire series is well worth getting. The audible version was well read by Kevin Pierce.

The story centers on a man grieved and alone who upon chance encounter gets the opportunity to restart his life. The steady rate at which the drama unfolds keeps the reader or listener anticipating the next phase in the story.

Highly recommended for post apocalyptic fiction fans.

It was as expected but by no means disappointing. Guess I've read so many of this genre I know the story line. Sometimes I got certain characters and their relationships to one another confused. Overall, a decent read.

Battle seems to never learn his lesson. What has the man been doing for the last five years? Limited security, rotten Opsec, tree house as his shooting platform yet no attempt has been made to build his needs and security into the land.

The book is written rather simply and is a quick read. This is fine, sometimes an easy distraction is what the reader wants.

Where the author lost me was when the house burned down. What a rotten plot point. It came across as cheap antics to move the story forward.

This was a surprising find. I would never had tried reading other than kindle unlimited. I read, then purchased at full price.
This story is set in the future but actually starts in 2016 when the main character is starting at one of the military academies. For that up and coming officer, what will their post apocalypse look like and what battles will they have faced and what demons will they be carrying around this period in their lives.
I can see this being a HUGE series.
I really like the main character, Battle. Kudos to the author because I know this guy. He is tough leather and dry whisky and John Wayne rolled up in an American flag.
But that is how I see Battle, using my frame of reference. I am guessing that the author will be using flashbacks so he can, through his story telling, give us Battles' historical reference.
An example of this that actually made me cry while reading was Battle reflecting in real time "That is why I do not make promises." Then in a flashback we learned about a promise Battle made to his wife that he was unable to keep in wartime and he never makes another promise again, he learned through his historical reference that he was not always in control of the outcomes no matter how hard he tried.
New BIG fan of this author and I can not wait for the next installment.

The book is well written, well edited, and I would give it a higher rating except for the numerous references to the Bible and religion. I felt like I was being subtly preached to--a major turn-off for me. Couldn't finish it.

Very simplistic fiction with little plot. I would not retread this book or recommend it. The writer needs to keep working on his ideas and have more in-depth plot. Try another book other than this one

I've enjoyed other books by Tom Abrahams, but this book was fantastic! I absolutely had to read it in one sitting. It follows Marcus Battle, a prepper and former Army who encounters the threat of a deadly world-wide virus with his wife and son. Home is the focal point...the place to be protected and defended, but will he be able to do all of that when the "end of the world" approaches?

This is an outstanding book with incredible detail and very 'human' characters. You can feel their anxiety, determination and resolution just by reading the book! I fully enjoyed this first book of what promises to be an amazing series. Awesome story and constant action! Well done.
