Took us the distance. From teased by strange novelty to familial intimacy with the characters. What is going to get them through these dire straits? How can they recover from the blows? Who are they deeply, when the going gets rough? I was obviously intrigued from start to finish.

What a great book, wonderful story of human will, a modern-day Greek Tragedy very unlike the Dystopian Apocalyptic story I was expecting. The collaboration of the author and his wife makes for a very, very good original story that really exceeded my expectations, well done, I sincerely hope to see more of their collaborations?

Amazing journey that leads to an amazing ending, never expected this and never saw it coming. If anything I would criticize the pace of the story, lots of background info provided but missing a few more action scenes that I would like. Overall amazing.

I loved this novel by the Robinson's! The inhabitants of the earth have been decimated. Poe,in New Hampshire and August in Arizona locate each other by chance on ham radio and August begins a very dangerous cross country journey to find her and to get some answers to the cause of the carnage. Filled with danger, thrills and amazing characters,I just couldn't stop reading this wonderful book. I received this book for an honest review

I have read several books by Jeremy Robinson and they never disappoint but this book was amazing. I couldn't put it down. The characters were great, the story was paced well and it was thrilling at the way through.

This is a very different post apocalyptic story. Very well written with excellent editing. I loved the emotional attachment between August and Poe. I could not wait to finish this book and then was sad that it had.

This book is superb! Well written, thoughtful, suspenseful, a little mind bending, and a flat out terrific story, we'll told! The end is fantastic! This was my first Jeremy Robinson book. I WILL be reading more!

One of the best apocalypse novels I've read. Love the characters, just your every day people, no Rambo heroes. No page after page of descriptions of weapons and ammunition. This is a solid story with suspense and a developing plot that will definitely keep you interested. With nearly 400 pages, this is a hunk of a book, and such a nice departure from those writers in this genre that take a 400 page novel and split it into 3 books -- and some even have the audacity to double space the text to make more pages and make the book seem longer. Highly recommend this book. No hocus pocus, just good solid plot, great characters, exciting subject, and damn good writing. Jeremy, you and Hilaree should co-author other books.

Humanity is gone, except for Poe , a pregnant young lady, thinking she's alone in the world.... Until August.... the story chronicles August trying to get to Poe and her baby... And is beautifully written and an edge of your seat read!! I never post spoilers and won't start by ruining this one but can say it's my all time favorite book!!!

A definite must must read!!

ok, let me begin by saying, this book ROCKS! this is not a review from your average sci-fi, EOTW, post-apocalyptic reader, although i do love the genre. this review is to let my fellow readers know that this is one of those books that honestly deserves the too often used phrase, "i could not put it down". the characters, the action, the way the story kept me on the edge of my seat, i loved it all! and the ending, while not totally unexpected (and i would have loved to have seen it go in a different direction), was satisfying and heartfelt. you will not be disappointed. nice job mr.(and mrs.) robinson!

Cheesy headline, I know, but this book delivers. One of the most unique end of days novels I've ever read. Jeremy Robinson has written a few but this book he has written with his wife, Hilaree, is easily one of his best. I look forward to more novels from this duo. If you want a different kind of apocalypse tale, read The Distance, it's worth the trip!

OMG. Are these characters stupid!!! Makes you want to yell at the book. At each turn they do the exactly wrong
thing and are total clutz's. Each one falls down or trips or stumbles about a hundred times. And she's gutless
beside being stupid. Can't reenter the only store in town? He can borrow shoes from disaster victims to walk hundreds of miles because he thinks that yucky? Are you kidding me? Maybe one assertive person should have written this book
rather than two Sierra Club'ers.

Living in the minds of the main characters, with a lot of repeated, circular thoughts, but moving towards a fixed goal, the book can can be a little tedious. But there are action scenes to break up the flow, and the ending is not what you might ever expect. Overall, worth the purchase.

Robinson's newest creation was a wonderful wild roller coaster ride of a novel. Started it Wednesday night then came Thanksgiving with a large number of family members and too much food...luckily I had Friday off and began reading again and spent the entire day going the distance to read "The Distance" and thoroughly enjoyed the hours spent in the pages of this amazing book. I agree with the author this story is truly one of his very best...kudos to husband and wife writing as team...hope you'll do it again and again. If you're not reading Robinson you should be...read any of his other books and you'll be going back for more!

Spoilers: Meh...the beginning seemed like trying too hard. It was filled with too many mixed metaphors and added nothing to the story. I even told my husband that I was suffering to get through it. I mean, Seinfeld, really? This book will not age will with references like that. Actually, it already outdated itself. I appreciate that he was writing it with his wife, and bravo for finishing a book together and remaining married. Kudos. ... and then to the end of the book ... D..R..U..G.. on and on... I mostly skimmed because I knew he would get to, "Squirt," and for the slowness of the rest of the book, the ending was an avalanche of unneeded Blur. I want to keep liking Jeremy Robinson so much, but I am left feeling glad that the book is finished and even happier that there doesn't seem to be a sequel.

The "last people alive after a mysterious apocalypse" theme has been heavily worked in the last few years. This novel adds little. The alternating points of view (man/woman) are mildly interesting, but the unresolved mystery at the end feels entirely artificial.
My biggest disappointment was that both characters make some disastrously stupid decisions. Nor do they gain any self-awareness; it almost seems the authors don't realize how stupid their choices are. I enjoy post-apocalypse novels partly because I empathize with the characters and think about how I would react in their desperate situations. But for these two, I was not able to care.
Example (mild spoiler): Character #2 spends embarks on a 1000 mile journey after only a few hours of preparation. He also chooses a very slow means of travel because he guesses that faster methods will be too dangerous. He does not run any scouting missions, or any experiments; he just makes a decision and shoves off.
I read this via Kindle Prime, so the price was right ($0.00).
