I've enjoyed the series overall, but there are some weird inaccuracies. Several other posters have listed some of them, but one that I haven't seen involves some of the distances in the book (or I might have missed that comment). Much of the book is set in Oneida, Tennessee and at a point in the book, the characters have to travel to Paragould, Arkansas via horseback. The straight line distance between those two towns is a little over 300 miles (if you could even go in a straight line) and involves crossing the Mississippi River (which they do by an old bridge); they do this all in about one day. Sorry, that's just not possible, especially in the situations they were dealing with - you would be really lucky to get 50 to 60 miles. It didn't ruin the book for me, but it was a real head scratcher as to why the author would make such an obvious mistake.

I enjoyed this series but was disappointed that instead of being about survival it became more about war. I understand that when our country ever gets invaded it will be war. I was expecting more along surviving the emp and keeping body and soul together. If you are into war stories this book is for you because it is good looking at it from that perspective but not as good as one about survival.

I just read this series and am looking forward to reading more books by this author. The tips and advice on a EMP strike were eye opening. This series brought home to me how unprepared we are as a nation and as individuals. I would recomend theses books to anyone who is interested in possible world changing events.

This author captured my attention with the first paragraph! Character development was perfect. Story line ran smoothly and factual. I enjoyed the way the momentum moved in each book. Grab these books. Very insightful!

Started out wondering where this was going, but as I read more it really makes you wonder what happens to our freedom and take for granted what we have. Really enjoyed and identified with the surval aspects of the book. A great read.

Gripping, exciting, and thought provoking. This series was written in a way to make you sit up and think about our world today, and make you wonder if your family will survive. I highly recommend this series.

The Mack family story following an EMP attack. Was a very entertaining read. I really enjoyed the thought process behind the story. Highly recommended.
Makes you really want to start prepping for the worst. Are you prepared?

I enjoyed this series tremendously. I enjoyed that the books not only told a great story but went into detail about the ways to prep and what to use. Whether it was a tool or a weapon William Weber got it right!

I enjoyed the escape provided by the story, but the writing left much to be desired. The characters seemed believable to some degree...but the plot was just lazy. This one man is able to make the right decision in every single disaster? There was no instance in which events could overtake this one person, who apparently has a degree in history since he can remember obscure details about little known historical figures? Whoops, forgot to mention that the hero can also outplan, outthink, and out perform the entire general staff of 3 US Army combat divisions, the Chinese army, the North Korean army, and the Russian army.

All of that from a Lieutenant.

Remarkable...but not in the slightest bit believable.

Again, I read it for the escape. Thankfully, it didn't cost me a dime or I might've been bothered.

Last Stand was an exciting post-apocalyptic story. I stayed up late reading about John Mack and his family. If you enjoy post-apocalyptic tales, you'll love this book. I also appreciated the lack of swearing. Now I'm going to read all of William H. Weber's books.

I've always thought another country would be foolish to try to overtake America, but now, knowing many of our leaders want to disarm America and learning about EMPs... It's scary.
Thanks for a good read full of information!

I hate it that Kindle prevents rating individual books in multi-volume sets. Not all of the books in the set would be rated a '2', yet it would be misleading to rate any of them higher than '3'. I think that '2-1/2' on my personal scale is not representative of my views on the quality of the books, and is not an exact average of the scores I would attribute to each; nevertheless I that is the score that I think might best represent my view.

Weber has done a remarkable job writing about "prepper" topics without falling into the trenches that most prepper writers dig. And his combat-related topics are for the most part "spot on". His emotional and psychological scenarios occasionally get unrealistic, yet his overall plot and characterizations keep the stories compelling and engaging, if not always enthralling.

I won't dissect each story (since Kindle/the store hampers and hinders rating), so I request that you read each book and then correct any mistakes or misstatements I've made.

This is a great series and I enjoyed the survival tips and the thought process used in first family protection and then community protection. As we depend so much on our electronics, these book create thoughts if it ever went away.

Thank you to the author for incorporating so much valuable information in an action packed series of books. What would it take to survive in a country without electricity, cell service, law and order? Have we become complacent and too reliant on the latest labor-saving, tricked-out gadgets and cars? Reading these books will at the very least introduce the hard facts of alternate realities that were part and parcel of living a couple hundred years ago.

This was the most riveting and exciting book I’ve read in awhile. I couldn’t put it down. I’ve recommended it to my neighbor and my husband and they both said they couldn’t put it down. Each chapter drew you into the action until you felt like you were part of it. If you overlook the unlikely scenario that our enemies could make it halfway across our country with little resistance, it’s a great four-book series.

I enjoyed reading all four books. I guess it reminded me oh how the world seems to be moving. It's getting harder to trust those that you used to trust. Our leaders have double-crossed our nation much as Phoenix did. I am glad that it seems that the crooked ones are being revealed and maybe we can avoid the complete downfall. Also, I grew up in Kentucky and lived in middle Tennessee and west Tennessee too for a time, and as an old veteran many things are familiar to me. Thanks for writing these books.

The way he layed thing out is impressive. Telling why he had his view on prep that was different from the main preppers. It makes you think about why you are or not a prepper, and what could happen if you don't. I know it is just a story, but it could very well happen in this world we live in.

I read this collection one after the other in under 4 days. Riveting and plausible. Character development was right on target. Then why not 5 stars? The author seemed to constantly apologize thru his main character for using slang, derogatory, and racial terms. Being politically correct in a world catasophry seems inane. Otherwise go out of your way and read these books.
