I love Dorothea Benton Frank! She makes her characters very life-like and interesting. Her story line catches your interest in the first few pages of her books and The Land of Mango Sunsets is no exception. Reading about the lowcountry of South Carolina is wonderful and if you have ever been there you will see exactly what she means with all of her many descriptions of the beautiful area.

Unfortunatley this title and dust cover of the book suggest that it is anything more
than another simple love story...when in fact there are so many different levels
of human emotion that are spiced with a bit of humor..making this book a great
read. Do read and enjoy.

I actually ended up really liking this book. It started a tad slow for me but then it kind of caught you up in it's story. By the end I was a fan of the characters and hated to see them go!
I would certainly recommend this book!! :-)

I so enjoy all of Dorthea's novels. After spending many summers on the aisle of Palms visiting my dear dear friend from Mt a Pleasant, I can close my eyes and hear the surf, smell the salt air and feel the Tide coming in tickling my toes warming me that it's almost time to leave for the day! Now that I've read every one of her books I anxiously wait for her next!

I have enjoyed every book she has ever written and I actually read this one a little late from publish date. I had just fininshed reading The Last Original Wife and it was fabulous so this may be why I was a little disappointed. Would not recommend.

I enjoy each one of Dorothea Benton Frank's books. Some are predictable, yes, but the characters are always well worth the read. As one from the South and very familiar with the local people that inhabit the beach areas,(I was one myself for awhile) I love those characters. I really feel as if I know these folks.

I love stories created by Dottie. Most of her books, for me, I enjoy immensely...but this one just wasn't up to her wonderful standards. I wish I'd had waited for the paperback! I didn't care for the cover either and tried not to let that influence me, but maybe I should have! It won't stop me from buying and reading though...I still love ya Dottie and will be back.
