I have been suffering for years with unexplained symptoms. This book put them all in perspective and I hope it will eventually put me back together again. I am trying everything it says because nothing eles has worked and it has not been for the lack of trying. I will report back after 3 months. Pray for me and wish me luck.

Very helpful and thorough. The author repeats himself often and that frustrates me, but overall, the information in the book has been VERY beneficial for me in making decisions regarding my severe adrenal exhaustion. I have made changes suggested in the book and after a month and a half, I am feeling much better!

Easy to read, informative. I was confused as to the supplements he recommends but got the info I needed from his own web site. I wish he would have addressed the use of cortisone and DHEA for adrenal fatigue a little more fully. Good luck to any one with this diagnosis. It's almost impossible to get a good treatment plan from a doctor and you need more than just good diet and supplements although both are essential.

I suffer from a severe form of Adrenaline Burnout. This book is slowly changing my life for the better. It is a long and lonely task and the way is hard. But it gave me answers that are very slowly beginning to work. The changes you need to make are expensive. You need to eat healthy whole foods and in a new pattern. And you need to change your whole life around. Also, the vitamins, minerals and supplements that you need to recapture your lost adrenaline are costly and you need them to rebuild and it may take several years before you can cut down to a lower level. You really need to sleep 8 to 10 hours of life. And many doctors will laugh at you or try to tell you to just take an anxiety pill. Some meds actually make it worse and most doctors will not pursue it because there is no money to be made by the Pharmacy Industry. But one day you will wake up and very, very slowly feel a teeny bit like you again... and it is well worth it. It is my second Bible.

Have you suffered for decades from a variety of symptoms that no one could help alleviate? Have you searched on your own in vain for answers? Have you been tested for everything imaginable, or so it seems, but the results came up with nothing helpful? I did all of the above. When I discovered this book, it radically changed my life. Actually, it was this book and working with Dr. Eva Marie Andersson in Hendersonville, NC.
Read this book for practical answers and help that can start you on a journey of recovery. Here's just one example from my life: after decades of sleeping only two or three hours a night, I now sleep seven or eight hours and feel like a totally different person. The implications of this alone are phenomenal for regaining optimal health.

This book includes a comprehensive test for adrenal fatigue, far more detailed than anything I'd found online. Plus it offers an explanation into causes and then provides a multitude of different actions to deal with adrenal fatigue. The best resource I have found on this subject to date.

Dr. Wilson brings awareness and clarity to a problem that is pervasive in the USA and the world. While people are told to get less stress, their bodies literally don't have the resources to manage the stress load that is pervasive today.
A must-read for anyone who wants to restore balance to their lives in a natural and powerful way.

My doctor uses this book and recommended I purchase it. I have to be candid and say that I am not as enthusiastic about this book as she is. I have not finished reading it, but so far it seems like the advice to get well is to aquire good quality sleep and rest, eat healthy, all of which to me are no-brainiers. I am still undergoing various lab tests to see if something other than adrenal fatigue is going on, but meanwhile I will do all the good things this book recommends. My issue with this book is that so many of the symptoms featured in the chapter with cartoon characters: struggling with lethargy, increased effort to do everyday tasks, craving salt/salty foods, lightheaded when standing up quickly, thoughts less focused, memory less accurate could be symptoms of many other conditions. Luckily my dr ordered blood work and urinalysis, etc before jumping to any conclusions. I actually like the list in this book on p. 225: Do These Things which start with Be in bed before 10 PM to Laugh several times each day but this advice is so general that it applies to people who are well or sick, young or old, working or retired, a good way to live life. More advice in this chapter: move your body and breathe deeply, chew your food well, eat lots of colored veggies, and enjoy your recovery. The next page has additional advice: avoid these things--being harsh or negative with yourself, feeling sorry for yourself, foods you are addicted to, avoid fruit in the morning. Author Wilson tells us that restorative therapy could take up to two years, so this book is not about a quick fix. Chapter 21 contains a review with questions and answers and Chapter 22 covers Anatomy and Physiology of the Adrenal Glands. All in all, good information to have, but talk to your doctor before jumping to the conclusion that you have adrenal issues.

My husband was totally out of energy since 3 years. We tired so many treatments all with only little success.
I than bought this book and knew this is the changing point and it was.
Our wonderful Doctor took it serious and since on the right treatment life comes back day by day to my husband and so to me too!

This has to be the most authoritative source on adrenal fatigue I have ever run across. Most traditional doctors are clueless on this condition and alternative docs aren't much help either.
Treat yourself by following the principles in this book and save money on worthless doctor office visits. Everything you need is right here.

I bought the Adrenal Fatigue book because I have Adrenal fatigue, also my doctor recommended this book for me, as a guide and to educate me. It is a great reference book, with many helpful suggestions on how too help heal your own body. I like the idea that James Wilson developed his own supplements to reverse adrenal fatigue. It can take up to two years for a complete recovery, so be patient. If you have Adrenal fatigue, I would recommend having the saliva test done, so you know what you are dealing with. I believe we are all worth the extra time and money too invest in our own health. With out good health it makes for a long day, a long week and a long month and a sick year.

Excellent book describing this mostly "undiagnosed" syndrome. It was very validating to read all the symptoms, as I have finally figured out this is what has been underlying so many of my other "issues". Gives good discription and a great plan to heal yourself, covering all aspects. From life style modifications, diet, excercise and vitamin, herb and drug supplementation.
Also describes how the adrenal glands work, and their intricate play in so many bodily functions as well as their effect on other endocrine glands. You could easily go to a wide variety of "specialists" and get all sorts of individual diagnosis, and then, as I did procede to treat those symptoms, all along never treating the root cause of the problem, subsequently causing this undetected issue to progress and become more and more debilitating. Definitely helped me on many levels! Thank you Dr. Wilson.

This book is extremely helpful to understanding: what adrenal fatigue is, how it happens, when it happened, what are the specific causes and what you can do about them. Be forewarned that it does contain very goofy cartoons but it is good to laugh at or with.

This is an excellent book with many practical, very specific, simple suggestions for basic lifestyle modifications you can do every day to help heal your adrenals. As a healthcare provider myself, I thought I knew what I needed to heal my adrenal fatigue, but this book fine tuned the focus of my program so that I could really start feeling a difference right away.
In my practice as a physical therapist, I see many people with adrenal fatigue -- folks with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and chronic pain, and even just the "regular" folks trying to keep up with our fast-paced, 24/7 world with caffeine and sugar. As the book's subtitle, "The 21st Century Stress Syndrome" suggests, I believe most of us can, to one degree or another, benefit from what this book has to say.
Highly recommended. You can try a just a few things or do his whole program. It works!

I've suffered from adrenal burnout for years and now know it comes from my hypothalamus. Did following the program in this book cure me? No, I was too far gone for that, and following the program is like triage in that it helps me not to make things worse. But for someone in the beginning stages of adrenal fatigue or even someone who just wants to learn more about the adrenals and how they function, this is the best book I've found. The author gives instructions for completing a test on yourself to determine if you have adrenal fatigue. This same test was the primary one my chiropractic neurologist used on me the first time I saw him.

Excellent book, well thought out and very informative. Dr Wilson explains very well the subject of Adrenal Fatigue which is a very very common disease / condition state, that is very rarely uncovered by traditional practitioners of medicine due to the way lab results are interpreted as all or none.
I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the subject. You will learn a lot of good practical information.

Great self help book based on many (2,600) actual clinical studies about why I feel so crummy, but many doctors are not addressing the symptoms or even know about adrenal fatigue. Loved the questions that helped address how severe and where the most struggles are.

This book is a God send! I struggled with adrenal fatigue for about 2 years and this book along with a naturopath dr. Really helped me come a long way! Taking supplements and following the recommendations in this book really helped. It's sad that western medicine doesn't recognize this epidemic...

Although written a number of years ago and updated, this book is a good intro to what may be an issue with many women and men. The authors have a couple of websites also with more up-to-date info and technical info. Book was a little sophomorish, but a helpful start at understanding adrenal fatigue. I needed more technical info and found that on their website. If you are exhibiting some of these symptoms (tired, depressed, lack of labido, anxious, weak, etc) and especially if you are in your 50's or older, then you should check into this as a possible cause. This book was highly recommened to me by three Doctors. I was diagnosed with adrenal failure - Addison's Disease and have struggled to overcome this horrid disease that wrecks havoc on your life. I would recommend this book to anyone who thinks they are in an adrenal compromised situation to head off complete adrenal failure that I over time, over work, over stress fell in to. I did not realize just how important those two little glands that sit on your kidneys are and what they control throughout your body.

Not too many physicians acknowledge adrenal fatigue - so, it was refreshing to hear another perspective. My favorite part was reading what foods, vitamins/supplements and especially herbs, are helpful in battling this syndrome.

This book by this Dr was very helpful. would definately recommend.
It helped me regain my health, I went through alot of what was mentioned in this and it is sad that most dr's say adrenal fatigue is not a true medical condition. I would still be suffering if I didnt have these guidelines to go by

Until I was referred this book by an integrated medicine specialist, I'd spent a good 9 years of my life suffering from Adrenal Fatigue but having had no clue at all as to what exactly was ailing me. Reading its second chapter with its illustrated list of symptoms was like reading a biography of those last 9 years. Finally I could make sense of what was going on with me and be able to start taking concerted action.
While the book's prescriptions didn't end up curing me completely, that's only because of how difficult such a condition is to fix, especially when you've been suffering it for a long time. Indeed, the book makes this point quite clearly. I did make significant improvements after reading the book, but it's taken a more concerted effort under the guidance of an experienced medical practitioner to finally fix myself once and for all.
This book is literally the definitive guide on Adrenal Fatigue. I couldn't recommend it more.

Everyone with a fatigue problem should read this book. Has great chapters on rest, food, stress and all the things needed to get your energy back. Very down to earth with no medical terms that we do not understand. Just because most doctors do not understand this very common syndrome doesn't mean that we can't do what the book says and regain our vitality for life. I won't say it is easy (changing the way we eat, sleep, etc) but well worth the effort to feel better. I wish I had read this book years ago.

Adrenal Fatigue by James L Wilson, ND, DC, PhD is unquestionably the definitive work on low cortisol adrenal fatigue, written by the top expert in the field after compiling 2400 medical references. Originally intending to educate physicians about adrenal fatigue, a syndrome currently ignored by mainstream medicine, Wilson changed his mind, and wrote a self-help guide for all of us chronically stressed out members of the "rat race" suffering from this new 21st century epidemic.
Chapter 5, the Signs and Symptoms of Adrenal Fatigue contains humorous illustrations which communicate very clearly in non-technical language the symptoms of fatigue, lethargy, craving of salty foods, hypoglycemic episodes, decreased libido, stress intolerance, light headed upon standing, depression, loss of memory and cognitive decline, and prolonged recovery time from flu-like illnesses, which characterize adrenal fatigue, the net result of years of chronic stress.
In Chapter 7, Wilson explains that adrenal fatigue is not recognized by mainstream medicine because there is no ICD-9 code, and health insurance companies will not pay for diagnosis and treatment without a code. This is perhaps a simplification because the ICD-9 code 255.4 for adrenocortical insufficiency can be used. Wilson goes on to explain that that the only codes and lab tests are for Addison's disease which is complete adrenal failure, so even if testing is done, most people with mild adrenal insufficiency will be told the test results are normal. Thanks to Wilson's efforts to publicize the syndrome, hopefully this is changing.
Chapter 8 contains a lengthy questionnaire which will assist the reader in self-diagnosis.
I found Chapter 10 on physical signs of adrenal fatigue the most useful, describing findings on physical examination such as the unstable pupil, blood pressure reduction upon standing, and Sergent's white line test.
Chapter 11 provides complete coverage of laboratory testing for cortisol levels in saliva, blood, and urine samples, as well as ACTH stimulation. Wilson favors the 4 sample salivary cortisol test as the easiest and most convenient method, with the added advantage that salivary testing can at home without a prescription
The largest section of the book, Part Three, deals with treatment and recovery from adrenal fatigue discussing lifestyle, diet, food allergies, replacement hormones, and supplements, and a discussion of cortisol vs. adrenal cortical extracts.
Adrenal fatigue is the net result of years of continuous high cortisol output by the adrenals caused by chronic stress from job, family, illness, injury, and poor diet and lifestyle associated with high-tech modern living. After years of chronic stress, the two small triangular supra-renal glands poop out, and we become another casualty of adrenal fatigue, the 21st century epidemic. Since mainstream doctors can't seem to help, either ignoring the syndrome, or prescribing anti-depressants for it, this self-help book may be a life-saver. Thank you, Dr. Wilson.
Other books recommended are Safe Uses of Cortisol by McK Jefferies, Hypothyroidism the Unsuspected Illness by Broda Barnes, From Fatigued to Fantastic by Teitelbaum.

This book puts all the pieces together for a condition the three doctors I'd been to had no idea about. Most helpful to me were the test of whether you have the condition and the dietary suggestions. Not eating fruit in the morning and eating more salt, etc., have made a huge difference for me. The book is a bit old and could use some updating, but definitely worth getting if you suspect your adrenal glands are out of whack.

Good book for those unfamiliar with adrenal fatigue. Also, handy clinical techniques for self-diagnosis.
For the healthy, and those that wish to augment themselves; the book is sadly lacking the current state-of-the-art on supplementation. For example; Magnesium citrate?
Current state of the art is: Magnesium asparate, glycinate, and other more esoteric chelates.
Didn't remember seeing testing for RBC Magnesium either (I could be wrong on that, having just speed-read the book.)
Overall, a good starting point to help people research on their road to wellness.
