This was a gift my daughter who researched hard on who had the best price! the store won as usual and the shipping was prime so bonus there. This book is her prized possession. She loves dragons and if you know of anyone who loves dragons this is probably one of the greatest fictional interactive books!

This book is something special, and will be loved by anyone who is drawn to the magical, the mythical, the wonderful.
As well as anything and everything you'd ever want to know about dragons and things dragonish and dragonly, you will be entertained along the way with what amounts to a quite spry sense of humor, and that when least expected. For example, dragons love lettuce (we all knew that, right?), so it would be well advised to tote a head of it along (iceberg will do) at all times, advance preparation being half the battle.
This book is presented in the spirit of Gnomes (Poortlvliet), Faeries (Froud), Giants (Larkin), Unicorns (Hathaway), Witches (Jong)...an entire library of books in which it is a given the creature is real and not mere fantasy. This makes for great fun, no matter the age; just be a child at heart.
Of exciting note: The original of this book having been written, purportedly, in the beginning of the 20th century, the language is delightfully archaic and (by today's standards) full of whimsy. We are placed in another mindset and into an earlier time, when perhaps it would not be so radical to believe such beasties could exist, indeed, while munching on lettuce.
The art is top notch, the book full of delights and cozy places to explore. For those of us who have no trouble at all believing that dragons are alive still (and very well, thank you) a keener book could not be found.
I'd give it 10 stars, sigh, if only I could. Now, 'tis time to find myself a dragon, or perchance to let it find me...

This book was well worth the buy.
I purchased this book as a gift. The recipient was 7.
Most of the book is still a little much for her yet, but she was beyond excited just the same. There was some that she thinks is interesting now, but as she gets older, there will be so much more for explore in the book. After going through the entire book, you have to remind yourself that dragons truly aren't real!

My 4 year old grandson loves all mythological creatures but most especially dragons. This book is absolute perfection. I was just astounded by the details and imaginative information. The illustrations are superb.

High quality paper, beautiful images, well written for what it is (though I haven't read through it completely). It captures the imagination instantly. Great for what it is, a simple fantasy book about dragons.

I ordered this for my autistic niece who fixates on dragons. She LOVES this series of books. They have little pop out windows, the illustrations are quite nice. There are touchables inside the book (small textured circles and squares) that show how dragons skin might have felt. This is a must have for anyone who loves dragons!

This book is informative and beautifully illustrated. My daughter and her fourth grade friends are all very enthusiastic about this book, and use the information in imaginative play at school. The girls read it over and over again; our copy has brought great pleasure for more than a year now (beginning mid-way through third grade) and it makes a nice birthday gift to children interested in dragons and fairies.

Such a great book for kids. Really gets their imagination going. Incredible details! My sons 5.2 & 7 love this new book, and keep reaching for it at bedtime. This has really opened up their world for creating some fun adventures around the house, and my older son loves to copy the drawings & create his own dragons. A really high quality book.

This book is special. Excellent quality both in overall look and binding. This is a MUST HAVE for all Dragon lovers!
The inner pages are amazing with crystal Dragon eyes, little doors to explore behind and a lot of extra embellishments throughout the book. Had I known how wonderful this book was, I would have ordered one for me too!

The visual style and writing are engaging to a young mind and i would recommend it to a reader who is starting to learn English as a secondary language even if it is rather short and more focused on art rather than writing.
Its style of narrative is represented in a semi serious scholarly tone discussing dragons and the many forms they come in complete with Latin designations and little adverts in the corner selling you the latest in heat proof headgear; it is visually intensive and very much so. In general as i stated before i see it as a perfect gift for your cousin, child around the age of 10 or under if their interests happen to coincide with the subject matter or fantasy as a whole.
