Just another great book by Patterson, as usual! I love all his Women's Murder Club and Alex Cross books, so I guess you could call me bias to Patterson. But it's true and his books are the absolute best books that I've ever read. That said, please, everyone purchase his books because you won't go wrong.

I would recommend this for anyone who likes suspense, mystery, action, drama, or crime stories. Be ready and buy Violets are Blue though. When you finish this you'll want to have that ready. The plot is the thickest its ever been at the very end. I did NOT see this ending coming and I'm usually fairly good at narrowing down the suspects. Not even at the very end was i ready for this. I had to read a few times just to be sure. HIGHLY recommended!
Violets Are Blue (Alex Cross) :: Detective Cross (Bookshots Thrillers) :: The Dark Calling (The Arcana Chronicles Book 6) :: Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Immortals After Dark Book 4) :: A Gripping Serial Killer Thriller (Violet Darger FBI Thriller Book 3)

As usual James Patterson books are always a "page tuner". In this book Alex Cross nemesis is a dark disturbing man and just as brilliant as Mr. Cross. He always appears to be one step ahead of the police and is always outsmarting them.
The plot is to find this "Mastermind" before he causes any more harm to anyone else. But the biggest question is "How long will it take Mr. Cross to first find out who he is and how to defeat him"?
It is a chilling look into the mind of madman. See the world from his point of view. It may leave the reader wondering why people sometime react to situations in such an abnormal way
This book will have you on the edge of your seat as you tried to figure out how Mr. Cross is going to react to his antagonist next move.

I really enjoy the Alex Cross novels. However, I've always "read" the unabridged versions on CD. This one was not available in the unabridged version and, while it was easy to follow, most of the character development was missing. I think it was because of this the novel was not nearly as riveting or even just interesting as the full versions.

Book #6 has a surprise ending. It should have been a launchpad for me to read book #7. However, when I read the ending I had to read it again. I said "What? Where did that come from?" It should have been a huge teaser for me to read book #7, but I'm growing tired of the repetitive story-line of these books. I can't bring myself to buy #7. I've hit the wall on Alex Cross. In each of these books somebody VERY close to him dies or has something awful happen to them. I would change professions. Alex keeps on being a detective and going to funerals for friends and family members. I feel sorry for his friends, colleagues & family.
1) Sinister, evil serial killer worse than the last novel
2) Alex takes the case
3) Alex gets too close to solving the murders
4) Evil villain targets his family
5) Somebody close to Alex has something awful happen to them
Sound familiar? Yep. Same as books 1-5.

I love the way James Patterson incorporates characters from other books into current books that I am reading. Patterson keeps the reader involved in the storyline. I really like that aspec of reading mystery books.
