My Wife and I bought the set for our Grandchildren to read to us. She wanted the Magic Tree House Set because she had it when she was a little girl. We were able to fine the first four books in a box set on Amazom.com. To get the Grandchildren into reading short stories instead of playing games on T.V. We are very happy to say the children are wanting to read more now than play games. Now I may have to get the rest of the series for Christmas!

My grandson loves this series; Mary Pope Osborne proves she can keep a six-year old's interest with her storytelling skills and kid-dominated topics without being pedantic or condescending. The set makes an excellent birthday present--in an age where plastic toys fail to keep their attention for long, and kids associate ebooks with video games. Settling down with a book is a good way to connect.

Fun short stories about a brother-sister "team" who experience time travel via a Magic Treehouse. Great books for children developing listening skills and transitioning to "chapter books." Enough pictures with engaging story line. Not too long. My granddaughter really enjoys this series! Fun facts about history/animals/people too! A fun read for the adult too!

The Good: Well written introduction to chapter-reading for emerging readers. The author is an experienced teacher who knows well the minds of first graders in the US. She knows the level of vocabulary, the adequate difficulty and subjects that are of interest to them. These books will help readers get practice into reading more and pull them away from a screen at times. The basic plot of a book that transports the reader to other worlds is obvious and trite for an adult reader, but it is okay for a young reader who encounters it here probably for the first time.

The Bad: The paper on which they are printed is sadly of the poor off-white porous quality of a mass market bestseller. Page design is also bare bones, printer simple and easy on the eye while scalable if you opt for the e-book version. The poor quality of the actual object will probably not instill a love for the book itself. They will be used, and then circulated to a library. Not a keeper.

Conclusion: These series will fulfill a pragmatic purpose. They will work probably well in a school setting. They will not make bibliophiles.

The story itself is pretty good, but this particular edition is cheaply made. From outside it looks colorful but when you open the books, the paper is very cheap quality (newspaper type paper) and illustrations are black and white. Very disappointed!

This story is about adventure of Jack and Annie.

They are a hero and a heroine.

At first, they found house on the top of the tree near their house.

The house on the top of tree is fantasy house.

There are a lot of books in the house.

And they point dinosaur book and they travel to dinosaur period.

Jack and Annie adventure dinosaur period and find out medallion carved M.

This book is for children.

And it is good for some foreigners like me.

Because this book has a lot of words intelligible.

My four year loves the Henry & Mudge series. I thought it was time to maybe we try something new. The Magic Tree House are perfect. She was so excited to hear more of the 1st book we read the whole thing in one sitting. There is just enough pictures to draw her in but the stories really are delightful. So happy to have found new adventures for us to go on. I would definitely recommend this series.

My daughter started reading the summer before 2nd grade. She adores these! These are the first chapter books she has really been addicted to. Highly recommend. As a former first grade teacher, I can also say these are widely popular for most (not all) kids.

My third grader is in the process of reading this book. She actually hates to read and I think she may have some form of dyslexia but she seems to enjoy this book. It keeps her interested and the best thing is it is a series.

Very good chapter book for my kindergartener. Kept her attention and corresponded to a poplar bear unit we studied. Good story line. Integrated facts with a fun adventure. My kids remembered all the fact finds from the book at the end.

My 9 year old granddaughter has had difficulty reading and subsequently hasn't liked reading anything -- until I got the first 4 of this series. We finished "Dinosaurs Before Dark" in a couple of bedtime reading sessions and she's still talking about it! We'll start the next book this weekend and she's actually looking forward to it. Hopefully, I'll be buying the entire series.

I always enjoyed the Magic Treehouse books when my son was growing up. They were easy reads and he liked the adventures. I purchased these books as a gift and haven't heard whether they are actually being read, but for a reader I know there are some fun adventures waiting to be enjoyed.

Exactly as described. LOVED these books as a child and I'm so happy to now be buying them for my own son. They are the only books that he actually WANTS to read, everything else I have to beeeeggggggggg him to read, but not these.
