I checked this book out from our local library so that I could use it to help my seven-year-old understand the concept of point of view in narration. We had read the original Little Red Riding Hood story and this was an interesting take, told from the Wolf's perspective.

Here, the Big Bad Wolf claims that he is a vegetarian (pictured eating a salad at the beginning of the story). However, he has run out of food and when Red Riding Hood comes along, he pictures her as a juicy red apple, ready to be devoured. It is a bit of a stretch here in terms of portraying the wolf as a vegetarian who then goes after Red Riding Hood, but the apple-theme runs strongly throughout the story and I was eventually convinced that the food-deprived wolf was so desperate that he imagined both Red and her grandma as different kinds of delicious apples, meant for his consumption. My daughter was a bit puzzled at first (but he's a vegetarian wolf!), but went along with this twist in the plot.

The full-color, vibrant digital illustrations are beautiful especially in the depictions of the wolf, Red, and grandma. The author also offers suggestions such as further reading, other tales of Red Riding Hood, etc. This is not the best retelling of the story, but it makes for interesting discussion on point of view in narratives.

Gave the kids a different view of Little Red Riding Hood and gave them some options of how the story changes and how things could’ve been different. We enjoyed how the end of the book provides some talking points

Consider this for a moment: how wrong is it really for a hungry wolf to eat Grandma and Red Riding Hood?

This book is one in a series by Capstone that turns the focus of well known children's stories on its head and asks the viewer (children) to consider the motivations of others they may have never considered.

In this story, the well know fable of Red Riding Hood is presented from the perspective of the wolf. He gives us his reasons for why he makes the decisions he does and doesn't make excuses. This isn't an altered story - the wolf still eats both Grandma and Red. But now, readers are asked to consider another perspective.

Capstone does a good job of wrapping up the title with a section in the back that asks study questions prompting children to understand the story in a more fuller way. A good book for children ages 6-8.

Different spin on story better ending. More realistic loved this up dated version. Recommend everyone read this. Open discussion with my daughter about life, apples and things that can harm you in the forest.

This book opens discussions on different points of view in a fun, engaging way. Good for three year olds thru third grade as a fun way to have the class write their own version of a fairy tale from another characters point of view.

Everyone should get a chance to tell their side of the story!
Even Wolf.
Sure, all of the stories have made him out to be the bad guy but there are two sides to every story.

I love fun books with great pictures and, once again, Capstone nails it. I'll be adding this to my Christmas gift list.

** This was an ARC loaned to me for an honest review.
