A very interesting read. I have a friend whose daughter is currently a heroin addict and I'm going to recommend this book to both of them. I found this book very thought provoking even for myself. The study guide at the end is amazing.

Good to read in tandem with Beautiful Boy. You would think it would be more repetitive than it was. It does just show the repeated cycles of Nic relapsing, but it's interesting to compare to his father's story.

At times difficult to read because of it's honesty about how out of control one can get when using. Invaluable in giving insight to what it is like to be addicted and the continual stuggle it is to stay clean.

Great read. For anyone who struggles with this disease or loving someone with this disease it is a must read. I think he captures well the demoralization and power of this disease. I suggest reading his Dad's book first (Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey through his son's addiction.)

Wow! If any family doesn't understand addiction, this is the book for you! I loved it! You go through everything, the way of thinking, the damage to the mind, the struggles of the parents and tough love! I've read it twice!

First things first, while the content is graphic, the novel does read like a young adult book. So the 4 stars are actually for how much this book helped me, personally. Nic's a lot like my own family member and hearing his story from his point of view really helped me realize how best to navigate a relationship with an addict and what's reasonable/realistic to expect or hope for. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend reading this AFTER reading "Beautiful Boy". Nic has really given us something vital--the crucial and oft missing piece of the addicted family circle: the side of the story no one knows how to understand. It is only understanding that will allow us to forgive. This book helps you get closer that that. Thanks, Nic.

I expect more great things from this young writer. Tweak captured me from the get go - its a character driven story that keeps you guessing. You find yourself rooting for the protagonist often. My only dislike of the book was slang-driven voice. I understand this is his voice, but I felt like he could have deleted twenty WHATEVER'S and still achieved the same. Great book...

I enjoyed listening to this autobiography. Nic Sheff tells his story in a frank, honest way that is very entertaining. The story is pretty rough, but that is what one expects when listening to an account of addiction to methamphetamines. Sometimes an audio book will lose your attention (for whatever reason) - I don't think this ever happened to me when listening to this autobiography. I look forward to listening to/reading Nic Sheff's next book.

I bought this book after reading the one that the author's father wrote about the same subject. This book was written from the son's point of view, as the addict. His writing was captivating and heartbreakingly honest. Fascinating, fascinating, fascinating!

I would recommend this book to anyone that is looking for understanding of addiction. It's not a complete understanding but you get an idea! He does a great job of making you get goose bumps, cry, & feel like your right there with him...@ least I did!

Read both Tweak and Beautiful Boy will in rehab for a 10 year old meth addiction. Both books had such a profound effect on me, particularly Beautiful Boy (as I realized for the first time I was causing pain to the ones that love me most) that I left the two year program after only five months and have been clean ever since and that was over two years ago). Reading this books isn't the cure all be any means, but they changed my life forever.

Simply heartbreaking. Told by the author in his own street language/thoughts, just something I am unfamiliar with, but a worthwhile inside look at the struggles of a smart, loving son and brother turned drug addict.

Beautiful Boy- Nick Sheff's Father's book that preceded this book absolutely changed my perception of addiction. It helped me forgive some people and have a better understanding of who they are and why they do what they do. Tweak was a great follow up book to Beautiful Boy to get the addicts point of view.

I have been thinking about writing a book myself, to purge my inside feelings, regrets and shame. The excitement and fulfillment that comes with having love and joy in my life again. Thankyou, Nic for sharing your store.

This book is great! I'm now reading Beautiful Boy by Nic Sheff's father, David Sheff. I recommend reading both to see both perspectives on father and son and their trials and tribulations of drug addiction.

I chose this rating because it gave a clear depiction of the life of an addict. It displayed the insanity of doing the same things and expecting different results. My problem was that he over used the foul language. He was too repetitive in his descriptions.
He became long and involved when simplicity would have served just as well or better.

This book is beautiful. It is filled with the most honest portraits of life from a broken man that refuses to quit without really knowing why. In a strange way this book gave me hope, it showed me that even the hardest of lives are worth living and I love that. I love this book and I love that Mr. Sheff opened up his life to me. Again, it is really quite beautiful.
