I love Courtney Milan's heroines and her insight into the struggles of the common people and the women in 19th century England. This book has strong leads, a great dialogue and very interesting insights into scientific research.

The characters have uncomfortable edges, and their lives are not smooth. It felt so very real. At times I was annoyed - but it wasn't with the book, it was the situations that upset me as if I were the characters. I didn't realize until I finished how much the book had crawled into my own skin. Definitely worth following this author.

This had a great mix of character development, escape (fantasy) and plot. I rarely think of books as a five star, but this one made that rating. I love women characters who are challenged with being a genius and loved by a caring, charming man.
Unraveled (A Turner Series Book 3) :: The Suffragette Scandal (The Brothers Sinister Book 4) :: Ruined by a Rake - An All's Fair in Love Novella :: A Kiss for Midwinter :: Book III - The Day of the Duchess - Scandal & Scoundrel

Normally I like Courtney Milan's books. Indeed, the Brothers Sinister series was wonderful - engrossing, each one with interesting respective plots. That said, I think Ms. Milan ran out of steam with the third and last book of the series. I was so lookimg forward to the final book about the countess. It turned out to be boring, with repetetive explanations on Violet's state of mind (I got it the first three times already!) and Sebastian's conflict of conscience. For the first time ever, I quite at 30% of the book. By then I was so board I couldn't takre it anymore.

Courtney Milan is a wonderful writer, and this book is no exception. She assumes that we, as readers, are both intelligent and sensual, and she writes to this happy blend. I've never read a Milan book that didn't touch me. Treat yourself!

I like when romance is mixed with history. The writing was just the right mix of setting the scenes without being heavyhanded or talkative. I like that the author picked up on the way women were not take seriously during this time and how the main character got around it.

Ever since my first Courtney Milan book, I have been hooked. I have to say, I put this book on my wish list and then totally forgot about it. I eventually decided to purchase it but then started reading it in spurts. Initially I was a little annoyed by the angst/emotional turmoil surrounding Violet - I felt that the author was being a little too heavy handed in her writing. BUT I take that all back!

This story is so deep. It is the true epitome of what a romance novel is. We all want that one person who sees through everything and loves you for who you truly are. Violet and Sebastian's story is so heartwarming and the insight into both the characters and their relationship is done well. I have read all the brothers sinister books and continue to be impressed by Ms Milan's writing. Even starting off a little doubtful that I would enjoy this book she won me over. Buy it! You won't regret it! This is one that I would read over and over again!

One of the best Romance - Violet is a extraordinary brilliant , yet insecure and full of doubts... Sebastian is patient, makes her laugh, is there for her...and how their love for each other gets through the pain is an amazing journey.
I could not put this book down, had to read on once I started. A wonderful read!!

I guess I was expecting more. I thought when sparks started to fly between Violet and Sebastian it would be more intense more just more. I did enjoy the story it was well thought out and intelligent. Sebastian is my favorite of all the brothers sinister and I'm glad he got a happy ending.
