This book would be excellent with another 100 or so... I love the character, the writing, and the new directions fir these familiar characters are going but either charge less or stop racing the cash register to the end.

I just read that Robert Parker has passed away. Am so sorry. I have loved the Jesse Stone movies starring Tom Selleck. So as I read this one, I could visualize the characters as portrayed in the movies as I read.

Robert Parker would approve of this Jesse Stone. A true to the original a fictional character as possible. Sounds like Jesse and behaves like Jesse. A thoroughly enjoyable read from first page to last.

This is the latest Jesse Stone novel. I was pleased to find it so quickly and at such a good price. I think it is just as enjoyable as all of the other Jesse Stone novels, and I have read all of them.

These Robert Parker knockoffs are holding up quite well. Nobody does dialogue the way Parker did, but these stories have the charm and suspnse of Parker's work. Jesse is the same brooding Don quixote he's always been.

We always enjoy Robert B Parker, and never tire of Jesse Stone!
The latest release lives up to both the author and character's reputations!
This is one the those novels that you will return to again!

Definitely vintage Jesse Stone, though short and quick read I still loved it. Would be great to read one much longer.
Maybe it has to do with Tom Selleck and his great portrayal of the character in the series.

too short---too much molly and her putdowns--1 new character worth meeting--I usually like the authors work and hope the next 1 will be better--however jesse has become more violent with each book -too much so

All of the Jesse Stone books are great, no matter who is writing them now with permission of Parker's estate and the fact that Tom Selleck has bought the movie rights to the, we can look forward to more great TV movies, even though I miss the original supporting actors especially Molly).

I was really kind of skeptical about Michael Brandman taking over for Robert B Parker but so far so good. I have enjoyed the continuity of the books and the dialog. Only complaint....not long enough!!

Up until now have really enjoyed reading Parker's Jess stone series. However, Brandman failed to capture Jesse stone's character or style in this novel. Stone was portrayed as physically aggressive, this definitely was out of character. Sadly will have to say farewell.

Michael Brandman is not Robert B. Parker -- no one ever will be -- but he has done a very good job of continuing the Jesse Stone series, both in his books and in the TV movies based on them. Keep up the good work, Mr. Brandman, and bring us many more years of Jesse Stone!

Refreshing small town police work. Fun, capable characters that actually care about the outcome of the victims. Fiction is great to get caught up in. Easy read that you don't want to put down. Try it, you'll like it.

Robert Parker, with his carefully constructed sentences and eye for meticulous detail and adept character development would be appalled at this limpid piece of tripe. It's poorly written, poorly plotted and amateurish.

It's a shame that this book was disappointing. I felt that the character was lacking and flat not like in earlier novels. I understand that it is difficult to remain true to what Mr. Parker had originally created and still make it your own, but unfortunately the author has failed. That being said, there were occasional glimpses of the "old" Jesse Stone but they were too far and in between. It's a shame too because I was really looking forward to reading this book.

Mr. Brandman really should have read some of Robert Parker's books before taking on this project. And it's nice Brandman is a cat lover, but really he should have left a dog.
I don't think he should change the character of Jesse!

I still hope that Brandman learns to develope the characters as did
Parker.
I probably will continue to buy and read his version of Stone because of
Parker's works..
The book itself is a decent fast read and I know that Brandman is not
Parker but I still can hope.

I have read all the Jesse Stone novels. The last three, of course, were written by Michael Brandman after Parker's death. I think Brandman has carried on the series very, very well. In fact he has ridden us of Jen the ex-wife as well as adding some timely problems such as the health decline of a friend. Very good.
