5 Stars... I found this read fascinating from the very start... The present day psychological thriller connected to one of the most notorious serial killers ever known, Jack the Ripper, created an historically rich mystery with a supernatural twist... The Krewe of Hunters are becoming an intricately woven group and a well oiled machine each finding their role on the team... Whitney was a strong, sassy, heartfelt lead coupled with Jude, a no nonsense, dedicated, "by the book" NYPD detective... I enjoyed the slow build of their relationship allowing it to evolve with the overall storyline which made it feel more believable and relatable... This was a captivating page turner that kept me guessing, ratcheting up my anxiety, to the very end:)

Heather Graham has many series but if you like mysteries.. start with Harrison Investigations, then go to Krewe of Hunters. They are based on a gentleman who lost his son that had physic or some type of abilities. So he became interest in people who had similar types of abilities. They vary from strong senses, to talking with ghosts that still walk the earth (not ones who have moved on after death). Sounds ghost like. Not really. Each book has a hero or heroine that is the center of what is going on. One was a person who Harrison hired to investigate strange situations that seem to lead to "are there ghosts"; but most of these situations are caused by human "real" people and sometimes a ghost will help lead to a clue in solving the crime. Another is a cop in Miami and a house everyone says was haunted but the man died as if he was scared to death. Each book may have some of the same people in it as they are connected to knowing or working for Harrison. Never boring, you get well developed characters and I never tire of who is the next hero of this book. The books move and I find I have a problem laying them down to go to sleep or do my chores. You will enjoy them. Remember each series shows a different view point of Heather Graham. One series has wonderful historical information about Florida. Telling you of the Indians, the civil war and it's effect but just as fill in that you enjoy as the mystery keeps you hooked on each chapter.

I know, a ghost dog sounds ridiculous. But it was perfect and not cheesy at all. A doggy protecting his owner- something you hear about all the time.

Again we get the crew together to solve a series of murders. This time it looks like someone is trying to recreate the murders done by Jack the Ripper, only in NYC. Whitney flies to NYC ahead of the rest to begin working with Detective Jude Crosby.

At first the two are weary of each other and Jude is definitely not someone who has any need for 'ghost hunters'. However, neither of them can deny the sparks the fly!

And did I mention that the real hero is the ghost dog?

With this third book in Heather Graham's Krewe of Hunters miniseries, again the
history of the area, very rich and very detailed, is a big part of the story. I have really
enjoyed this aspect of the series especially since the history deals with lore and ghost and
mysteries which still exist into modern day.
Back to the details, something I have come to expect now from Ms. Graham's stories,
the crimes and investigative work were obviously very well researched in this story
dealing with Jack the Ripper. If possible, I think even more so than the second in the
series dealing with the Civil War. Yet, you never get bogged down in them. You may not
always know exactly what is going on, true suspense, but the writing is so clean cut, that
you can easily follow along, being just as confused as the main characters as to what is
going on.

In this book the possible romance is new, and I just about died waiting for it to start. The
connection was made early on, but satisfaction comes much later. I guess my impatience
again was another testament to Graham's true characterization skills. I have just fallen in
love with the characters in this series. They have so much depth to them, and yet they are
all very different.

I really enjoyed the paranormal elements to these stories. From the well-researched
equipment of this ghost hunting crew to their gifted abilities, the plot goes from spooky
to interesting and back again quickly. Captivating is a good word for it. This series has
really drawn me in and kept my attention. I highly recommend it, and I am anxiously
awaiting book four!

On Broadway the murderer leaves the guttered corpse of starlet Virginia Rockford out on the street. NYPD detective Jude Crosby looks at the gruesome bloody crime scene and is stunned when the ME Fulbright says the killer recreated the first throat ripping murder by Jack the Ripper. Reporter Melissa Banks calls the Ripperologist copy cat Jack the Slasher.

Jude's boss Nathaniel Green assigns a task force to assist his lead detective and calls in the Fed as he fears a serial killer is repeating Ripper's 1888 reign of terror. Jude works with FBI special agent Whitney Tremont and the rest of a special unit headed by Jackson Crow (see Krewe of Hunters' cases - Heart of Evil and Evil Inside) on a manhunt to prevent the killer from murdering the next victim. However, as they dig deep into the case, evil stalks them with Whitney as the next target.

Sacred Evil is a taut paranormal police procedural that grips the audience once Jude and Whitney begin the investigation. The romance is a secondary subplot as the cat loving male and the dog loving female fall in love, but know stopping the evil killer takes precedent over their feelings. With a nod to the X-Files, readers will appreciate the latest Jackson Crow Krewe case.

Jack the Ripper is alive and stalking young actresses in Modern Day New York City. This is the premise of Heather Graham's latest Krewe of Hunters novel "Sacred Evil." Virginia Rockford is working as an extra on director Angus Avery's latest film set in the late 1880's New York. Leaving the set late one night she is hunted down and killed by a shadow man in a long black cape and stove top hat. The last person to see her is old Captain Tyler who is a homeless vet. Detective Jude Crosby is on the case hoping to defuse the madness before "The Ripper Strikes in New York City" headlines start appearing because Miss Rockford was killed in the same gruesome manner as the original ripper victims. He enlists the help of Whitney Tremont who works for the Krewe of Hunters. She and her ghost hunting crew are put up in the old Blair House (House of Spirituality). Whitney's specialty is seeing ghosts of animals. It doesn't take long when a ghost hound appears to her to give her clues. More young actresses fall victim to the same fate as Ginger Rockford which leaves the city in panic. It becomes a race against time to find the killer. Is the ghost of Jack the Ripper wreaking havoc or is it someone pretending to be him? I loved the history on Jack the Ripper as well as old Five Points New York in the late 1880's. I figured out who the killer potentially was a little over half way through the book, but that didn't stop me from reading until the end to see if I was right. Another great one from Heather Graham. Has Jack the Ripper risen from the grave and continued his reign of terror but this time instead of the East End of London is it the East End of New York. Has someone researched very meticulously to become a copycat killer and now exacting a very carefully laid plan to strike fear into the hearts of woman in London or New York? Or Both? As time will show again ultimately his plan is to also show the NYPD what fools they are because even with it laid out all in front of them they still cannot catch Jack The Ripper or just a very well educated, and ultimately twisted copycat.

Is he at large again or is it more sinister than that?

Jack's Back!

New York City Detective Jude Crosby has just been handed a gruesome murder case. The press has dubbed the killer the new Jack the Ripper and if that wasn't enough to start Jude's day off wrong his boss informs him he will be working with a new special unit of the FBI for the duration. Jude never expected his FBI partner to be a petite and beautiful woman.

FBI Agent Whitney Tremont's specialty is film and that makes this case her baby considering the murder has ties to a movie being filmed close to the infamous Blair House in New York City. Whitney doesn't consider her paranormal experience as great as the rest of the Krewe but after arriving at the Blair House she cannot deny the strange occurrences that keep happening. She has partnered up with Detective Jude Crosby and she can tell he doesn't put much faith in her abilities but there is something about the detective that sparks her curiosity.

The Ripper is laying his trail of blood...no one is safe. The city is terrified and it's up to Jude, Whitney and the Krewe of Hunters to decipher the clues that will hopefully lead to the murderer. Can they find the killer before he takes one of their own?

Sacred Evil is a grisly and superb mystery! I was so engrossed throughout Sacred Evil that I thought I was right there with them. The case is dark and ghastly. Jude and Whitney take you right into the thick of it. They have immediate chemistry but it is obvious they are opposites at first-- at least they think they are. I loved that these two met fairly quickly and were together throughout the case trying to figure out the murders. It gave me a chance to get to know both of them as they were getting to know each other. I really love this couple. I enjoyed getting to visit with the rest of the Krewe as well. I'm not sure how Heather Graham keeps coming up with these frightful supernatural stories but I hope they keep coming. Sacred Evil features a beautiful romance set amidst a gritty, eerie outstanding plot. No doubt about it Ms. Graham writes killer mysteries!

I have always loved Heather Grahams paranormal novels but this book was very disappointing! it took me a couple months to finish it because I would have to set it down and read something else. I felt that she put to much into the history of Jack the ripper, and not enough into her main characters. I'm sorry but if I wanted to know every single detail of Jack the ripper I would have gone out and bought and book about him. Now onto the character flaws... you don't get to really know them at all they are thrown together to solve a case they meet he doesn't trust her, they go to a couple autopsies then all of a sudden they sleep together. I mean you learned more about Jack the ripper than you did about Whitney, and Jude! She usually has a villain that is apart of the book through out the whole story, but these guys are in it like a total of three times. You never really get the story of why they did it. I'm just all around disappointed with this book and wish I hadn't spend my money and this book.

I love Heather Graham books but recently I have found myself writing more bad reviews than good ones, especially concerning her Krewe of Hunters book. I wanted to give 5 stars. I really did. The whole concept with the ripper murders was amazing. BUT had to cut 2 stars. One because once again she mixes up 2 names. This time Jake and Jackson and things like that just really annoy me. Don't chose such similar names if you have a hard time keeping them apart and tell your editor to start paying more attention. Yes I realize I am beinf a bit harsh but it happened in the las book where she mixed up Angela and Ashley too.

Second reason I found myself taking off another star was the end.
*****SMALL SPOILER ALERT*****
The end was not very good (how is the murderer suddenly in the appartment ????). I cannot believe you could not have come up with something better. The wa it stamds it makes little to no sense to me. Why is the murderer suddenly in the apartment ? It makes no sense !!!

Anyways. I will definitely read the next one a) because I am such a fan and b) because apart from little issues like that I actually really like her books.

"The details of the crime scene are no coincidence. The body--a promising starlet--has been battered, bloodied and then discarded near two of Manhattan's oldest graveyards."

One look and Detective Jude Crosby recognizes the tableau: a re-creation of Jack the Ripper's gruesome work. But he also sees something beyond the actions of a mere copycat. Something more dangerous...and unexplainable.

As the city seethes with suspicion, Jude calls on Whitney Tremont, a member of the country's preeminent paranormal investigating team, to put the speculation to rest. Yet when Whitney and Jude delve deeper, what they discover is more shocking than either could have predicted, and twice as sinister...

I liked the subject matter of this book more then all the others, but I didn't feel the romance aspect of it. My favorite romance so far to the series is Jake and Ashley of the 2nd book (Heart of Evil (Krewe of Hunters)). I just don't think this series fits what I was looking for, and what I like. I have one more to the series to read, and I'm done - unless of course Heather decides to write more. But at this point I don't think I'd continue the series as they just aren't what I'm into right now.

I really liked the storyline. The Krewe of Hunters assist the NYPD to hunt for "Jack the Ripper" killer and at the same time help the ghosts of past victims (old past as well as recent past victims).
I would recommend the book to anyone who likes ghost stories and mysteries.

THIS BOOK SUCKED! I aborted at Chpyer 5, because I had endured no suspense. We all know that she was tentatively attempting to accuse Capain John as the obvious murderer, but the dire attempts wee futile. The only good book in this pile of crap fact-based series was the first one. DO NOT BUY!!!!!!

This book is slightly predictable since it is similar to all her other books. The annoying this was that frequently throughout the book wrong names were used. At points she referred to the main character Jude as Jake. The one girls name switched back and forth between Virginia and ginger. While not huge things it was still annoying and disrupted the flow of the book.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and looked forward to the second. It wasn't terrible, but there were so many errors, even with character names. If you, as a writer, can't even keep track of which character is speaking, that's problematic. In this book, she changed the name of the first character you encounter in the first chapter! Keep it consistent, and if you can't even manage that right off the bat, I don't have high hopes for the rest of the book, especially after the last one I read.

I have always been fascinated with Jack the Ripper and this book was a great mystery, however, it was easy to see who the guilty party was right off the bat. Despite that, I enjoyed the interaction with the Krewe and their relationships with the ghosts. I would actually love to see Graham go into more detail with each of the Krewe's gifts as sometimes it feels she is reinventing the X-Men, but the detail is lacking.

Overall, I did love this book so much that I couldn't wait til the next one!

I commend Heather Graham for her spectacular story telling in this book. I love that she takes the history and brings it to life!

I seriously can not wait to see what she comes up with next! The Krewe of Hunters are an entertaining group. The mystery and suspense is wonderful. Hard it is to out these down!

The plot is okay, pretty typical of the other Krewe books. The editing was bad. She seemed to have gotten the J names for her characters confused in various places. It seems like someone would have caught it. I checked my copy out of an overdrive library, so I don't know if a purchased version might be corrected.
