Several characters bigger than like. He again wraps the story line around real history and geography to give you a present reference. His action characters move fast and he well embraces the role of women of the west. A pleasant read.

This book is typical Louis L'amour. The Lonesome Gods is great reading with action and a lot of historical locations and factual information. Louis L'amour gives great insight to his characters and their emotions.

Really liked it. Great sense of life in the California desert. Great infusion of history. Second of his books I read. Lead character is your typical John Wayne/ Gary Cooper type. That kind of irked me, especially when compared to Lonesome Dove. But well worth reading.

Lonesome Gods followed the classic L'amour formula. Lone man overcomes nearly insurmountable odds to save the day and win the girl. There was more back story in this novel than most of his works. All in all, a fun read and a page turner.
