Can you see those trees along the shore? What about those mountains in the back ground.I've walked along high up hills and what Louis Lamour writes about I can see what he can seeand the smell of pine.Well you just got to be there.

Anyone who reads western novels has to be addicted to l 'amour I have been collecting his stories for more than ten years. I have read others but none of them subscribe the old wild west like L ' Amour.

This is a well-written book, containing a series of short stories, each filled with plenty of action. One has no idea how each will end -- until the end.

Each story is interesting, and written in such a way that one does not wish to quit reading until he/she comes to the end.

I recommend this book for anyone who likes western stories, or just likes exciting tales.

Identical stories, just a different title and book cover. Taken again!!! I didn"t exactly hate it, I just read the exact same stories, in one of your other Lois L'Amour books with a different title and different cover.

This collection of short stories make for a good read for anyone who is a fan of the Western idiom, especially these well crafted stories by a master of the genre, Louis L’Amour. Been quite a while since I have read anything by him, but all of the short stories were enjoyable.

Do they make anyone like Louis L’Amour any more?

Early L'Amor writing that was refined as he progressed as an author.Had some silliness about 2 gun rigs and gun butt notches that he would later classify as hype but his characters are as full of grit as any. When you read his prose your mind's eye visualizes the scene as easily as a video. Truly a classic writer.

LL has penned many westerns , however many of those stories were developed from short stories. There are many short stories in this novel and you can recognize the ones that were detained to a full length novels. These stories are outstanding reads for the genre.....DEHS

Started reading Louie L'Amour books back in the 70's.
I was in high school.
He has such a grasp of the times.
This collection is among some of the best short stories I have read.the men in these stories are real men and the women are not afraid to be both tough and tender.
Best story of the group was Grub Line Rider.

Western stories of tough men and women that made it through anything and everything to make the US what it is today. Even though it’s fiction you still get the feeling it comes from people’s memories passed down.

This is a quick and enjoyable read. There is some history, with interesting geographical and topographical lessons. In each short story, there is a good looking, broad shouldered, slim hipped cowboy who is lighting quick with a gun. I happen to love Westerns, and Louis L'Amour, in this book, has delivered a collection of short stories with plenty of cowboy drama and just a hint of romance to soften things up a bit.
