The product was advertised as a book , but was actually a collection of unfinished short stories, leaving one with a desire to know how each ended, or what happened between the middle of the the tale and the last half of it. Very frustrating! I do not recommend it.

Sometimes, L'Amour's main characters come across as clueless in dire circumstances--even though L'Amour has led us to think otherwise. Big Medicine aptly demonstrates the flaws in Louis's writing. I much prefer Ralph Cotton, Peter Brandvold, and Charles G. West.
The Collected Short Stories of Louis L'Amour - Volume 1 :: To the Far Blue Mountains - The Warrior's Path :: The Man Called Noon: A Novel :: Down the Long Hills (Louis L'Amour's Lost Treasures) :: Grub Line Rider

the first story was undoubtedly a re-print from one of his magazine articles. the second story had been printed as a separate book. I was expecting several stories from his magazine articles as the other book was that I ordered at the same time. this was a disappointment.

Lamour stories. Whether read one at a time or gobbled up like a novel, this is escape entertainment by a spinner of yarns in the western setting. This is a collection of one short novel and three short stories that are the versions printed during Lamour's early writing days. He rewrote stories, often changing them considerably. The short novel is "Showdown on the Hogback" which was later redone and published individually.
