If I had based my review on the characters alone, especially for the first quarter of the book, I would have hated it. There was a love triangle . . . or actually a love square and a whole lot of insta love. Winona hated her sister for dating a guy (Luke) that she was in love with, despite the fact that neither Vivi Ann, nor Luke, even knew about Winona's feelings. Vivi Ann agrees to marry Luke even though she doesn't love him and of course she begins cheating on him with the new ranch hand, Dallas. Ugh. I hate cheating. But Kristin Hannah does know how to write family drama. It ended up being a great story about sisters and redemption. I loved that the main point throughout the story wasn't even about the men; it was about family and being there for them when they need you. There were bumpy roads, but Hannah manages to give us the predictably happy ending I wanted. I felt like the ending was almost wrapped up too neatly and some of it was unrealtistic, but I still enjoyed the story.

I didn't give this story much attention at first, but it kind of grew on me. The momentum picked up and became very emotional. I really do like stories with a happy ending, and this one did not disappoint me.

I have enjoyed many of Kristin Hannah's books and this was no exception. It was not my favorite of her books but overall I liked it. It was engaging, and a little unexpected. Being one of 3 sisters myself, I saw a lot of my own family dynamic in this book.

Another great family saga by Kristin Hannah. Three sisters with an unbreakable bond, their love for the land. It is a story of breaking away and coming together. A story of love found and love lost, but found again. A heart warming tale of redemption and renewed faith. Another must read.

The characters develop maturity and wisdom over time, and the reader begins to relate to their stories and the depths of their emotions. The story draws you in and holds you there until it's done. A great read.

It took several tries before I made a commitment to finish this book. I was certain it was in a soap opera genre. I did stay with it and am glad I did. There was nothing false about the emotions depicted so well

I almost put this down when I realized there were horses involved, but I'm glad I didn't. I liked this book. My only complaint is that the Xanax addiction Vivi developed just disappeared with no effort and she was able to continue drinking socially afterward. Um, no.

Truly a take me away read. Kristen delves into the inner workings of a devoted family and is able to bring to light the little things that wear on each other's nerves. These things fester and really make for an emotional read. I felt like I was one of the family.

Fabulous. Excellent relational examination of sisters and their different strengths and needs. Despite the romantic undertones deals well with adding different and diversity into family system of sameness ...

This book is an excellent read. The family drama between each of the sisters keep one's interest to see how their problems play out.The relationship they have towards their father gives you and understanding re their personalities ,their interactions towards each other as well as their chosen paths in life. The story within a story re Vivianne and Dallas keeps a second peaked interest to see how this relationship is going to play out.I think this is one of Kristin Hannah's best!

I bought this kindle book because of the author. I read her book "Winter Garden" and really enjoyed the descriptive way she wrote. Makes me feel like I am in the scene, rather than reading about the scene that she is describing.
It seems like she writes about really strong women...a favorite subject of mine.
I would recommend this book to all of my friends
