The book is physically in great shape. The content is wonderful for a newbie or a well practiced watercolorist. I just sit down to read a portion of the book, get inspired, and go off on a painting spree. And to get two books in one binding for this price is an upright blessing. There is not enough time in the day to enjoy the reading, ponder the ideas, and do the painting.

Love this book. I have many watercolor books in my collection, but found this one especially helpful with it step-by-step approach. I go back to it regularly and I'm very glad I added it to my collection.

LOVE this book! This author holds nothing back. GIVES SOOOO much of himself and his knowledge. That trait, coupled with being a Master Painter, makes for a GREAT BOOK! I am so happy I ordered this book!

I started using this book in the classroom to teach techniques. It has tons of ideas that I used successfully to teach high school art students. I also learned new techniques to add to my own artwork. I didn't want to live without it, so I had to buy my own copy.

Excellent! This book had everything you need to learn watercolor, and it's actually two books in one even though they don't tell you that!I am a beginner but this book has so much information and technique that it really makes me want to keep on going and learning watercolor painting!also he has a great style and sense of humor with his writing and encourages creativity. This is a must buy!

It has helped me understand materials and technique, as well as provide beautiful images to practice with and later to draw inspiration. I knew what I was buying though since I flipped through it at B&N. I suggest you do this as well.

This book has been invaluable to me. The book lays out in a simple manner how to use watercolors, setting up a platte, what to look for when buying paint. I could go on but if you are just starting out our have been painting with watercolors for a long time you will find this book very useful.

This book is a treasure of tips and techniques on watercoloring. It is not the only book on watercoloring that you should own but it is an excellent "beginning" book. You will want to pick up a book on painting people and portraits if that's your interests, but this book is like having your own private class on watercoloring.

This is possibly the best book on watercolor techniques that I now own. Starts with equipment as most books do, but then goes into brush strokes with the various brushes, on to ways of getting various textures etc. That's in the first half of the book. There is a second book in the second half. It covers Landscapes in Watercolor. All types of landscapes! Shows how to paint trees, grasses, water, rustic buildings, it is packed with all kinds of techniques achieved with watercolors. Super book, easy to understand. A must have it you are interested in watercolors!

If you only have one watercolor book, make this the one. It starts with the basics and moves through many advanced techniques. Some parts are step by step and some are broader, but all are effective. The information on colors, values, and paints are worth the cost.

What a wonderful book! One of my friends owns this book and while visiting her, I was able to browse the pages. I knew I had to have this book too! As a beginner in watercolors, it is a "must have"!
