Having always been intrigued by the supernatural book genre, i was pleased to have come across Sylvia Day, Renegade Series. This book and the ones before had me hanging onto each and every word. The story line is riveting Definitely a page turner, but so disappointed to reach the end.

great story ...was worried I would not be into this second book of the series ...but boy was I wrong...author continues the stories and incorporates all my favorite characters still while expanding on new ones and making them just as beloved.

I must warn readers of this series that it has been four years since this book was written and the third book in this trilogy has yet to be written. I would strongly suggest not starting this series no matter how good it is since you will not be able to complete it. I think it is very wrong of a writer not to finish a trilogy. It is such a short journey to the end for most writers so why put it off for so many years? I assume her publishers do not see the merit of it, so she can't finish it, but as I said it is not worth reading or discussing if it cannot be completed.
I am giving what should be a higher star review just two stars for the lack of completion.

I can't agree with others that say you must read the first book to understand the second. Yes, it starts off with where it left off from the first book, but it doesn't follow the same characters. I really enjoyed the story and torment of the relationship between Adrien and Lindsay and I wanted to see where it was going to go after her becoming a vampire. But, no, this book was focused specifically on the newly found relationship between Elijah and Vashti. Don't get me wrong, it's a very well-written book. But, I read it wanting to know more about the first relationship. This didn't give much insight. You also had to get through a third of the book before that relationship was ever revisited. I know I should have picked something up from the description, but I just thought maybe it would eventually refocus. I'm not saying that I won't read the third book, but I can't imagine it going back to either couples. Based off of the short teaser for the third book, it looks like it's going to focus around this virologist and Syre, a relationship that has not been touched upon other than meeting at the end of the second book. So, other than knowing who these characters are... I don't know if it makes much of a difference to read the first to understand the second. Different focused relationship. I guess you could say, that like television shows that have branch off's to others (i.e. The Family Guy having the branch off with The Cleaveland Show) they at least still keep the original show to focus on that relationship. If there are further books past the third, I really hope we at some point get to do a better revisit on Adrien and Lindsay. I found their relationship more interesting because of the split between his being an angel and having to face the hardships of love like a human. At least, more so than watching two fallen creatures find love in one another. Yes, their groups hate each other, but they don't have a total problem struggling from sexual desire.

Elijah was one of my favorite characters in A Touch of Crimson, and he proves he is one awesome, sexy hero in A Hunger So Wild. The werewolves have rebelled against their angel masters and Elijah is the alpha that is thrust into the leadership role whether he likes it or not. Despite the fact that he did not want to rebel, he recognizes that his people need a strong leader or disaster will result.
In addition to making the werewolves primary players in the game, A Hunger So Wild shows us more of the vampires' angle on this story. The bad guys in book 1 prove to be merely 'human' in book two. Vashti is the prime example of this, but you also get to see another side of Sire. I really liked seeing this story told from the other side of the fence.
When the werewolves and vampires form an alliance, bitter enemies Vashti and Elijah must work together for the good of both their peoples. But what begins as hatred soon changes to passion. Really intense, hot passion!
If you think things were getting interesting at the end of book 1 in the Renegade Angels series, wait until you get to the end of book 2! This story is non-stop action. The vampire wraith virus is raging. While the wraiths are wiping out entire communities, the race is on to cure it or eradicate it.
Both angels and vampires are studying the virus, trying to figure out where it came from and why it was unleashed! What they find is a cruel, complicated plot that leads to more questions than answers. Some of the explosive information uncovered is potentially a game changer in the angel/vampire conflict.
I really liked this book, but was disappointed that almost NOTHING was resolved at the end of the story. If this had been a 2.99 book, maybe I would not mind so much. These books need warnings on them! I am frustrated with the inability of many authors to tell a complete story within 400 pages or less. Yes, they want to sell books, but really! An author that has any talent, and I believe Ms. Day is very talented, should be able to a) tell a complete story AND b) keep the reader coming back for more.

After reading the beautiful, enchanting and sensual Touch ofCrimson I was so underwhelmed by this story which follows the aftermath of the Lycan revolt and where that leaves the Alpha Elijah Reynolds. Because of a virus that is possessing the vampire nation Syre sends his second in command Vashti to form a pact with the Lycans who have revolted from the Sentinels, to help them with the possible retaliation from the Sentinels. The vampires will need the manpower from the Lycans who can hunt during the day while the vampires hunt at night for the etiology of the Wraith virus and possible cure. I was so excited to read this but was bored by Elijah and Vashti's all of a sudden "We have to be together although we were created to destroy each other. The sexual attraction was over done and not believable even for a paranormal romance novel. The b only thing that saved the book for me were the. parts that Adrian and Lindsey appeared. I hope the next one is better Btw. I was so tired of reading about how tight and revealing Vashti's clothes were. I did understand the sensuality of the vampire nation and that Vashti was a banger, but geesh she was always in a cropped leather vest and skintight pants with stiletto boots. I would chuckle when I thought about her having to run. It would have been nice to see her wardrobe enhanced as to be seriousy dress like a commander and not a slut all of the time. I think a woman in jeans and t-shirts are just as sexy if not more

A Hunger So Wild is the follow-up to Day's A Touch of Crimson. That means this review contains spoilers, so beware!
This book begins right where it's predecessor left us: with the lycans rebelling against the Sentinels (angels deemed with the task of guarding mankind from the Fallen; angels-turned-vampires). Elijah, being an Alpha, has been pushed into the role of leader of this rebellion. The problem is that he doesn't know who to trust. Even when in servitude to the angels, Elijah was treated properly and was more of a right-hand & friend to Adrian than a servant.
Then we have Vashti; second-in-command of the vampire nation. She is about to form an alliance with the very creatures she hates: the lycans. Lycans killed her mate, Charron, and she's been seeking revenge for years. An alliance between Vashti and Elijah is made worse by the fact that Vashti killed Elijah's best friend in an attempt to gain information about Charron's killer(s). But, this alliance is needed due to the fact that the vamps need aid of the lycans in tracking down the origin (and a possible cure) of a virus that is infecting their minions; turning them into mindless "Wraiths".
As Vashti and Elijah work together, tension builds. The physical attraction they have to one another is unprecedented, and neither one of them quite knows how to handle it. What happens when you put two dominant, powerful, headstrong people together? Yeah, massive explosion. ;)

I enjoyed this book almost as much as A Touch of Crimson. The one problem I had was that there didn't actually seem to be a basis for true love between Elijah and Vashti. They are definitely attracted to one another sexually, and they have a mutual respect going on, but love? I don't see how or why they claim those feelings for each other by the end. Maybe I missed something, but it seemed more like lust even in the end. Either way, it was hot and oh-so intense!
Vashti was a character I loved even in all her evil A Touch of Crimson glory. There is just something about a badass chick in a catsuit that does it for me. ;) And Elijah, same thing. He's dangerous, sexy, and honorable. He's an extremely strong male lead. As for the two of them together? I enjoyed the banter between these two lovers. I enjoyed the moments where they showed their soft sides to one another and no one else. I enjoyed the moments where they fought side by side, saved each other, and had complete over-protective meltdowns over each other possibly being in danger. Even with the insanely hot sex scenes, this book was both sweet and emotional at the same time.
Sylvia Day's skill at writing an insanely intricate plot amazes me. This is one of those series that if you skip even a few pages, you'll miss something big. She weaves multiple story lines together so so perfectly. You could sit there for days trying to find a hole in the plot, but you wouldn't.
I also enjoyed that we got to see some more of Adrian and Lindsay in this book! I adore them together and there is just something beautiful about their tortured, not-so secret love. We get to see a little more behind the scenes moments with these two, as well as their efforts to find out more about this virus that is running rampant.
Overall, A Hunger So Wild was about as good as it gets in a follow-up novel. The main character focus of Vashti and Elijah is passionate, dark, dangerous, and incredibly sexy. It's definitely a page-turner. Day keeps you on the edge of your seat from the very beginning to the very end! There were also some WOW surprises and plot twists. If you enjoyed A Touch of Crimson, you'll adore A Hunger So Wild! Bring on book 3.
**This book is definitely for adults only! Contains heavy violence and sexual content!**

A HUNGER SO WILD (Renegade Angels #2) by Sylvia Day
A HUNGER SO WILD is the second full-length novel in Sylvia Day's Renegade Angels series. Part of the series premise follows that if a Sentinel (Watcher Angel) falls in love or mates with a mortal/human their wings are removed and they become the Fallen. As a Fallen, they are now vampire, and require blood to survive. But along the way, a few of the Fallen have requested leniency and begged off from vampire status and have become `lycan'-infused with demon blood with the capability to shift. The lycans are currently on the run, hoping to escape servitude to the Sentinels.A Hunger So Wild will see lycan, vampire and sentinel join together in a war against a virus of unknown origins and an enemy that hits too close to home. This is a very detailed storyline thus I highly recommend you read the series in order including the two recently released novellas.
Vashti is a fallen angel, vampire, second-in-command to Syre (leader of the Fallen) and a grieving mate. With the loss of her mate Charron over 60 years ago, Vashti has had to suffer through the indignity of her mate's death and a personal attack against herself within hours of his murder. Revenge has been the foremost on her mind, knowing the three unidentified lycans were still on the lose, and all the information she finds leads to a dead end. But over the years, Vashti has made it known that no lycan is safe until she gets her revenge. Killing more than her share, Vashti knows that she has become the target of the lycan community, but when Syre sends her on a mission to joins forces with the lycan alpha, she knows she could be walking into a trap. Vashti has always blamed the alpha for the death of her mate.
Elijah Reynolds is a descendant of a fallen angel, a lycan, and a reluctant pack alpha. And when the beautiful vampire Vashti presents Elijah with a proposition regarding the hunt for the mysterious `Wraith' virus, Elijah knows that his inner wolf wants more than a working relationship-he wants his mate-and Vashti will be his. But their efforts to hunt down the origins of the virus, will meet with negative road blocks, suspicious pack members and surprising blood tests following a vicious attack by vampire wraiths. Needing help to save Elijah'a life, Vashti will confront a powerful sentinel putting her own life at risk.
Throughout the story, Sylvia brings together many of the characters from her previous novels and novellas allowing for a smooth continuation of the series storyline. The sentinel Adrian and his vampire mate Lindsay will be the focus of healing an injured lycan, as well, Adrian will finally get the emotional relief he has needed from his loving mate: Syre believes that his second-in-command has been compromised by her feelings for a lycan, and many of the missing and dead vampires, lycans and sentinels will come into question when a virtual paper trail leads back to a trusted friend. And the revelations regarding the origins of the virus will point to an unholy alliance of vampire and sentinel.
The relationship between Elijah and Vashti begins as one of mutual disdain but the anger hides an attraction that both cannot deny. Elijah had previous dealings with the vampire and knew that his attraction to the female would have to be sated. But Vashti's guilt for the loss of her first mate will tamp down many of her natural feelings towards Elijah and those that she cannot control will throw her off -balance and into a relationship she never thought would happen again.
The search for the origins of the wraith virus will unite the species in a common cause. When it is learned that there is a possible cure, Elijah will ensure that the lives of those targeted will be protected from a vampire hoping to save his own kind.
A HUNGER SO WILD is a remarkably detailed storyline that addresses many of the major points and premises in the previous novels. The revelations of those involved in the death of friends and family, and of a virus so lethal, that there is only one solution-and that solution may cause panic in the hierarchy of angels. A wonderfully seductive storyline that kept me on the edge from start to finish

Rating: B+ ... Heat: Hot
A Hunger So Wild is the second book (there are two novellas preceding it as well) in the Renegade Angels series. This is my first foray into this dark world Miz Day has created. I have concluded that while this story will make sense as a standalone, you are simply missing too much overall to truly enjoy and appreciate the book on its own. Keep that in my when considering my opinion, since I am reviewing it as a standalone.
Vashti, the right hand of the leader of the Fallen--angels who fell from grace, lost their wings and souls, and are now vampires--has lost her mate and fellow Fallen, Charron. His death caused Vashti to loose the tenuous hold she had on her sanity. The last sixty years she has spent in warrior mode. A killing machine without mercy, her only goal to find her mate's killers and avenge him.
Elijah Reynolds, the reluctant leader of the lycans--defenders of the Sentinels (angels) and marshals of the Fallen's minions (turned vampires)--has been framed for Charron's murder. Vashti has tortured and killed to get to him. That is, until the Fallen need his aid more than Vashti needs her vengeance. Forced to work together, it is quickly uncovered that many things--including Charron's murder--are not what they seem. Someone is working to manipulate all the factions. To what ends, no one knows.
This is where things are not as clear as they may have been, if I had read the previous installments. There is an overall arc of betrayal and espionage and bio warfare that is weaved throughout the series. I could gather the gist of it but I'm definitely looking forward to starting it from the beginning. There are rogues and spies in each faction--Fallen, Sentinels, and Lycans. And there is the spread of a virus that only affects the vampires, turning them into wraith-like beings. Miz Day has created drama and intrigue and mystery that peaked my curiosity and kept me interested.
The romance between Vashti and Elijah was rough and earthy and impassioned to a feverish degree. These two don't simmer, they explode. It is all or nothing, zero to sixty. I loved how Vashti, the second on the Fallen's totem pole, became pliant and submissive to Elijah. And the way Elijah topped her, while managing to be tender and compassionate at the same time--that is the way an alpha should be. All of that power combined with innate gentleness.
My only complaint is the end... One minute the progress that Vashti and Elijah made in their relationship is about to reach its pinnacle--the, er, climax of their will we, can we, should we, screw everyone else let's do this!--then it changes to another point of view and just... ends. What!? I flipped my kindle over, staring blankly at the back, wondering if somehow my ebook was missing pages? I gather that Vashti and Elijah will show up in the next book, as the previous couple had more than one appearance in this book, but... No! I want the scene on the airplane to take place in this book. I don't want to wait for that.
Sigh.
Grr.
A Hunger So Wild is an unusual and inventive take on angels and vampires and werewolves. Their creation, the hierarchies, the relationships between all the factions, it made for a very complex and fascinating world that was easy to become captivated with. I really, really need to find the time to devour A Touch of Crimson (#1), as well as the novellas A Dark Kiss of Rapture (#0.5) - which is currently free - and A Caress of Wings (#1.5).

For about five seconds, I considered reading this book without reading A Touch of Crimson. I'm so glad I didn't. While I probably would have eventually figured out what was going on, I can't imagine that I would have found it nearly as good if I were not so familiar with the world-building or invested in the characters. So before I get too far into this, let me recommend that if you haven't read the first book in this series, you should do so before you start this one.
This is Elijah's story. He is the reluctant Alpha of the lycans who recently rose up from the indentured servitude of the warrior angels. His life has been turned on its ear by the rebellion. Hunting vampires for the Seraphim has been all he has ever known. Now the vampires are coming to him, asking for an alliance. It's an offer too good to refuse with the lycans' limited resources and the angels breathing down their backs.
The vampires' ambassador is Vashti, the beautiful sexy vamp he wanted so much when he saw her in the last book. Of course, it's not so simple as to just getting her into bed. She is the vampire who killed his friend Micah. His sense of honor demands justice as does Micah's mate, but the alliance is more important than revenge. He must put aside his anger and grief to work with Vashti long enough to figure out what is causing the illness sweeping through vampire minions. Then he plans to kill her.
Vashti is no fan of the lycans. After all, they brutally killed her mate decades ago. But even her hatred can't dull the fiery passion she feels for Elijah. A passion they have for one another, despite everything else.
It was hard for me relate to these two wanting to screw each other's brains out when they wished each other dead. Thankfully, they start to like each other quickly and that is not an issue for very long. There are other issues that take its place, though, mostly on Vashti's end. She doesn't want to want Elijah and she certainly doesn't want to have feelings for him. Her reasons why become clearer the more we read, but I never really did warm up to her. She's too reluctant of a love interest and she is a very hard woman.
Elijah, on the other hand, is a great hero. He is alpha and strong without ever being power-hungry or a jerk. He is thoughtful and patient. He knows what he wants and he will settle for nothing less, both in his pack and in his relationship with Vashti.
There's a lot going on here beyond the relationship. We learn more about the vamp-sickness and the master-plan against the angels and the vampires. We get more from Adrian and Lindsay --and even follow up on the two novellas. There is good mix of action and "the bigger picture" which kept me on the edge of my seat. And the sex is really hot, even if the very first love scene was somewhat disturbing.
The ending made it clear what would happen between our hero and heroine, but so much is still left undone. I am beside myself that I must wait until next year to get the answers to all my questions, but that just shows how much I have become invested in this world.

I received a complimentary copy of "A Hunger so Wild" through Netgalley from the publisher for a honest review.
May I just say...I think I about fainted when I saw this book post to Netgalley. I feel like I was waiting forever for July to get here and when I got a early copy of this book...I literally screamed. My hubby and oldest daughter were probably pondering if they should call a mental ward or not.
I knew I would love this book too, once I started reading it. It's on Elijah! If you've the read the first book, you know who Elijah is...if you haven't read the first book, what are you waiting for?
Elijah has left the Sentinels and now is running the pack of Lycans as Alpha. He's the best for the job. He never thought, he would end up hooking up with the Vampires though to find out what's going on with the vampires and why some are coming down with a disease that makes them go crazy, basically. (these crazy vamps...are wraiths) Elijah, also never expected to have the second most powerful vampire approach him for his help.
Vashti is one serious, deadly vampire that no one wants to mess with. She is still out for revenge on her mate that was killed years ago. She knows it was a bunch of lycans, but she needs Elijah's help to find which ones did it.
Who would thought though a lycan and vampire would end up hooking up? Elijah and Vashti have tried everything to not show their feelings of each other, but for some reason Vasti can not resist Elijah and his sexy lycan charms. (I should say "puppy" though) =)
Elijah can't resist Vashti due to her domineering ways and of course the way she dresses.
I won't go any further because I'll give too much away. This book had a lot of story to it.
My thoughts on the second book to the Renegade Angels series...is Syliva Day did an amazing job building up the suspense even more in this book. It had a back story and a main story going on at the same time. I got to read about Lindsay and Adrian again and what they are dealing with. I also got to see Syre in action too...who is the first most powerful vampire.
I loved the steaminess between Elijah and Vashti. I actually was kind of skeptical on them getting together at first though since I remember how Vashti was in the first book. She is one cold-hearted, mean vampire. I definitely never want to mess with her.
Elijah...I think I'm in love with him. No...I know I'm in love with him because I fell in love with him in the previous book. He stole my heart even more in this book.
Sylvia definitely had me hooked from beginning to end...especially, the ending. Dang you, Sylvia...you left me hanging. It was an amazing cliff-hanger though.
I recommend this book to readers who love the paranormal romance genre and who love a different take on angels, lycans, and vampires. This definitely is WAY different than other books out there.
This book will have you wanting more....but forewarning...you will be left wanting even more at the end. =)

Elijah! That's the one word I can use to sum up this book. I've read many books about shifters in the past, but have never been so taken by one as I was with Elijah. Elijah is alpha to the max. He is sexy, controlling, intelligent and smitten with a half-crazy, bad ass, warrior vampress named Vashti. Sounds great....except that vampires and lycans hate one another in this world. This book tells the story of Elijah and Vashti, and how even their mutual distrust and dislike of one another (at least in the beginning) could not keep them apart.
Elijah has been lusting after Vashti since the previous book in this series, A Touch of Crimson. As soon as he laid eyes on her, Elijah knew he was a goner. In this book, Vashti is send by her commanding officer, and closest friend, Syre, to broker a deal between the lycans and the vampires. There is a deadly wraith virus spreading that is turning infected persons into mindless, killing machines. The lycans have recently rebelled from working with their long time partners, the Sentinel angels. Elijah immediately feels a pull towards Vashti, even though he doesn't want to feel that way. Vashti hasn't had a romantic relationship in the last 60 years, since her beloved husband was murdered in a heinous way by lycans. On the other hand, Elijah has sworn to kill Vashti for her earlier transgressions of killing his best friend and beta. The antagonistic relationship begins almost immediately.
So Vashti and Elijah begin their uneasy alliance securing the lycans in a proper home. When the sexual tension becomes too much, Vashti opts to take a quick break from Elijah and travel to Las Vegas where she can get a quick meal from a blood donor, and possibly let out some of her sexual frustration. Elijah follows her to Vegas, determined to stop her from drinking from another person. His lycan beast has already claimed Vasti as his own, even if she doesn't know it. What follows is one of the most disturbing and hot scenes I have read in a while. There is a sexual encounter with consent in the loosest possible meaning. But in the end, Elijah shows what kind of man he really is.
Upon departing Las Vegas, there is a commotion, and Elijah runs right in to the middle of a house filled with wraiths. There is a great battle, but Elijah is bitten and becomes very ill. Vashti immediately travels to find help in the form of a Sentinel angel, who is sworn to battle against the vamps. The point of view in this story changes around a bit, so we also read the continuation of the Adrian and Linday story that was explored in more depth in A Touch of Crimson. Adrian is the head Sentinel angel, who is not supposed to feel anything. His lot in life is to serve the Creator. However, he has fallen completely, head-over-heels in love with a vampress named Lindsay. Lindsay also happens to have a very close, platonic relationship with Elijah. Vashti attempts to kidnap Lindsay in order to convince Adrian to help her. Adrian eventually allows Lindsay to travel to Elijah to help him, even though it's against his better judgment, because of the depth of friendship Lindsay has for Elijah.
Elijah and Vashti continue to fight their feelings for one another, and it's one of the most beautiful, antagonistic, animalistic, wild and intense relationships I have read about. Vashti attempts to push Elijah away, but ends up with many regrets. Vashti's main issue is that she is fighting herself. And in the process, she is becoming more crazy that she already was. Her confidante and boss, Syre, notices and is ready to end this fledgling relationship in his own way because of the affect it is having on his right-hand vamp. Elijah shows his true spirit when he gives Vashti exactly what she thinks she wants. Elijah is so much an alpha, and so ridiculously confidant in himself, that he makes a risky decision to knock some sense into Vashti. A decision that could very well backfire.
There is a lovely, wild forest scene that you will love if you are a PNR fan. Afterwards, it seems like Vashti and Elijah have secured their feelings for one another, yet they still have a job to do in eradicating the wraiths they have stumbled upon. There is a big fight where we find out that another person has been trying to undermine Vashti in many ways. There is some progress on finding a cure for the wraith virus, yet many mysteries remain unsolved.
I took off a half of a star only because the ending was left so open. There really wasn't any closure to any of the story lines, and another story thread was begun at the tail end of this book. I believe that a lot of my questions will be answered in the next book, though. I loved this book and am so happy that I found Sylvia Day this year. She has made my reading much more interesting!

Elijah is one of the rare Alpha's still leading his pack through the revolt against the Sentinels angels. When a new virus begins sweeping through the vampires, Vashti is forced to seek an alliance with Elijah. The vampires and lycans are natural enemies and it's only made infinitely worse by the fact that the lycans are the ones that killed Vashti's mate. Elijah has his own beef with Vashti as well, since she killed his best friend in an attempt at seeking vengeance for her mate's death. When the lycan Alpha and the vampires second in command get together for an alliance, sparks will definitely fly, in more ways than one. Learning where their true loyalities lie may prove more difficult than either of them imagined.
Sylvia Day has certainly taken a new twist on the vampires, angels and werewolves here. In this series they are all angels in one form or another, or were at one time. There's a little murder mystery, with the plot and cover up of the murder of Vashti's mate. We certainly have some mystery/action going on trying to find a cure for the vampire virus. Then of course we have some romance... my favorite! There's definitely something between Vashti and Elijah from the beginning but with the different "species" factor and the past troubles between them, it makes for some serious tension. I love that Elijah is the ultimate male alpha character without being full of himself. He seems to genuinely care about all the members of his pack and doesn't treat anyone as though he's better than them. That's hard to pull off with such a tough hero. There's just one scene that was a little disconcerting between the two of them but I wont go into details and spoil anything. Overall, they had great chemistry.
I have recently read several of Sylvia Day's books and have really enjoyed her writing style. Well, for the most part... I did kind of want to scream at her "What, are you kidding me!" after reading the ending of this book. It's not so much that it was a cliffhanger just that I wanted a little more closure at the end and well, just more of their story. I actually had to give myself a couple days before I wrote the review because I had to let myself get over the ending first. I am most certainly looking forward to the next book in the series. I'm also very intrigued with the head of the vampires, Syre, and his story. Hopefully we'll get that soon.

Elijah Reynolds is lucky. He might not think so at the moment considering his current situation but somehow he has survived when all other potential Alpha's have been exterminated. Lycans have been under the power of the Angels for a long time. The lycans see Elijah as their great hope and they have forced a revolt taking Elijah along for the ride and forcing him to lead. Now Elijah must figure out how to keep his people alive.
Vampire Vashti is a force to be reckoned with. As second-in-command of the vampires, Vashti is known for her ruthless ways. With the lycan revolt Vashti sees an opportunity to gain an ally against the Angels. There's only one problem, Vashti hates the lycans because they murdered her mate. But for the sake of her people Vash will do it. Only she never counted on the feelings the lycan Alpha inspires.
A Hunger So Wild takes the reader back into the Renegade Angel world and gives us one hot suspenseful ride with the Lycans.
Long-seeded hate turns into burning passion as Elijah and Vashti explore the pulsing lust between them in A Hunger So Wild. But will their differences keep them from finding true love? A war is on the horizon, is it possible for Elijah and Vash to find peace in their new world?
A Hunger So Wild is blistering hot and wildly addictive. Ms. Day sets the pages on fire with Elijah and Vash's blazing chemistry. Being back in the Renegade Angels world is so exciting. I couldn't wait to learn more about the handsome and rugged Elijah. I'm surprised he could get more attractive but he definitely does as he takes on the role of Alpha. I was shocked at first at the Elijah and Vash pairing. My opinion of Vash wasn't that high at the end of A Touch of Crimson. However, it didn't take Ms. Day long to change my mind and prove how fantastic a character Vash is. I completely fell in love with Vash's core of steel and felt empathy for her plight.
When Elijah and Vash mix things up together the story revs into hyper-drive. There is a lot going on in this story. I definitely recommend that the Renegade Angel series be read in order. There are a lot of plotlines continuing from the first book. Ms. Day has set this world up brilliantly. There are so many mysteries unfolding at a rapid pace the reader can't help but become enthralled with A Hunger So Wild and the Renegade Angels series.

Elijah Reynolds is one sexy as hell lycan (wish I could take him home). After the lycans rebeled and left Adrian, Elijah fell into the Alpha role. He's the strongest and a natural leader. And that is what Syre wants him on his side. So he sends Vashti, his second in command, to form an alliance with the lycan rebel alpha.
Vashti's mate had been killed by a lycan and Elijah was set up to take that fall and be blamed. Then Vashti killed Elijah's brother. But since A TOUCH OF CRIMSON Elijah has wanted Vashti even though he shouldn't have. They are all wrong for each other but their attraction is more powerful than any of these things.
Vashti (LOOOOOOVE HER!) is a very strong female to an even stronger male. She hasn't been with anyone since her mate but even then no one has made her feel and want like Elijah. They hunger for each other in the most primal way. It's hot and I didn't want it to end!!!
And this book is not just an amazing couple, the story actually progressed a lot in this book. I was surprised by some developments and I really can't wait to see what the last installment in this trilogy has in store. We even had some Adrian and Lindsay in this story.
This has been an amazing year for Sylvia Day books for me and this one was no exception. Action packed, story driven, sensual and raw. An un-put-downable story!

A Hunger So WIld, Renegade Angels #2, by Sylvia Day
Grade: C+
"You'll take me am I am. You'll want me as I am. Or you won't have me at all."
A Hunger So Wild is the second novel in Sylvia Day's Renegade Angels series and picks a few weeks after A Touch of Crimson ended. I have not read A Touch of Crimson and really wished that I had because it took me almost the entire book to figure out what was going on. If I didn't like both Vashti and Elijah so much I wouldn't have been able to finish the book. I felt that there could have been more backstory given at the beginning to catch the reader up because there is a so much important stuff that happened that was impacting characters in A Hunger So Wild that happened in A Touch of Crimson.
As I mentioned before I really liked Vashti and Elijah so much. I thought the struggle they had to go through to have their relationship and at times my heart broke for them both. I had a problem with their first sexual experience and it really bothered me. I felt that if the roles were reversed it wouldn't have been able to happen. Vashti completely violates Elijah and his trust so badly that I almost stopped reading. Vashti did redeem herself later but it put a taint on the whole book that I couldn't shake off.
I really love the idea of this book with angels, lycans and vampires closely tied together with their history. I really like all of the characters in the book and I'm very excited for Syre's book which comes out next. I hope this book answers a lot of questions that weren't answered. I really disliked the ending and felt that it just stopped very abruptly when things were not finished. I felt that some of the questions I had about Vashti and what she went through, which was a big part of the plot, weren't answered and it bothers me that they probably won't. I liked this book but the issues that I did have hindered me from really loving it.

I felt that some of the questions I had about Vashti and what she went through, which was a big part of the plot, weren't answered and it bothers me that they probably won't. I liked this book but the issues that I did have hindered me from really loving it.

Fifty shades hotter than Grey! Who cares about the Crossfire trilogy after having read the two first novels (and two e-novellas) of the Renegade Angels trilogy? Not me!
Why, oh why has the last book been delayed due to Eva and Gideon Cross. I cant stand the anticipation. I think i grinned like a maniac when I read the sexually charged scenes. The sparks flying between Vash, a fallen angel turned vampire, and Elijah a lycan alpha and hunter of vampires, would outshine a new years firework display. The tender scene where Lindsay confronts Adrian (the couple from book #1) with his forbidden, but ever evolving humanity, is beautifully written. I loved seeing angels through vampire eyes this time, to understand where they are coming from and to understand the tragedy of their existence.
This book isnt just a poor excuse for hot paranormal sex either, it actually has a plot building up to what will no doubt reach its climax in book #3. who are the saboteurs within each faction, trying to unravel the uneasy balance between vampires, lycans and angels- what us their real goals? Redemption? World power? I cant wait to read Syre's story!
I will go back and downgrade other paranormal books I have read now. I realize that I have been too lenient with my stars. I am in ¢¾ with this trilogy. So thrilled I found it:-)

Elijah Reynolds is the alpha that other alphas bow to as the king of the hunt and ruler of sexual encounters. Vashti is the queen of the vampires who loathes the Lycan for murdering her Neshamia soulmate Charron. As the Wrath Virus spreads, Vash's Fallen leader Syre in Virginia informs her that the Lycans have revolted from the seraphim control. Thinking that your enemy's enemy is your ally though one must watch your back with this Fallen species, Syre sends his second in command Vash to forge an alliance with the Lycan rebel leader Elijah.
Though she feels the Lycans are despicable for more than just murdering her mate, Syre follows orders to arrange an alliance between her species and Elijah. He wants to kill Vash for her killing his friend, but holds his avenging need in check as a pact with the vampires is needed if they are to survive their rebellion. Both are stunned by an attraction beyond anything either has felt before. However, war is imminent with psyop activity already set in motion and with both lovers being critical leaders for their people each understands that he is Lycan and she is Vamp.
The entertaining second Renegade Angels urban romantic fantasy focuses on two fallen groups who took different paths once they fell from grace. The storyline is fast-paced with a wonderful spin (first established in A Touch of Crimson) as the "good" angels, no longer having their sacrificial Lycans to send on suicide missions, use the end of eternal victory to justify any means against their former brethren the Fallen.

A Hunger So Wild is book 2 in the Renegade Angel series and this installment was even better than the first!
Elijah, the reluctant Alpha who was charged with protecting Lindsey in A Touch of Crimson, finds himself leading the Lycans after they revolt from being ruled by the Angels. He is tormented when he faces the killer of his friend, does he avange his death or accept the alliance Vashti is offering? Can Vashti work with the Lycan's when she is still consumed with the need to hunt down the Lycan's who killed her mate?
Elijah intrigued me from the first moment he entered the story, I was so excited to learn A Hunger so Wild's main focus would be on him. The tension build up between Elijah and Vashti is intense, the attraction is immense and when they give in, the heat is scorching!
Sylvia did most of the world building in the first book so the plot development felt a lot smoother in this one, there was a lot of action and plenty of twists to keep me entertained.
I highly recommend reading these in order, Sylvia left a lot of loose ends in the first book and some are resolved in this one, some are developed slightly but left open for the next book. I would recommend this to anyone who loves an action packed Urban Fantasy Romance.

The world of angels, lycans and vampires is very new to me but after understanding the terminology (thanks to the Glossary at the front of the novels), I really got into the books. The more I read the more I enjoyed them. It is complicated fantasy world which starts to make a lot more sense over time. I read these books over the course of a few weeks, with a few books in between (since I was waiting for some to become available at the library).
You can read my full review as well as see the reading order guide at my Bec's Book Blog!
Sylvia Day (author of the Crossfire Series) is my favourite author of the moment. If you like her other books then you will like these books as well! They are very sexy with powerful, intense men who are 'out of this world'. I would recommend you read this book if you like intense paranormal romances. Each book focuses on a new character but they all intermingle and are characters in the other stories.
I loved these books especially A Hunger So Wild! By the time I read this book in the series, I understood the difference between the Lycans, Angels and Vampires. Each book in the series just got me more and more hooked!
Looking forward to the next one!

I think if I could give half stars my rating would be at 2 1/2 rather than 3 stars. Why? It's not that it's a bad story exactly, it's just that it could be so much better...it feels disconnected to me. Not committed to anything in particular. I found it really distracting that this story includes so much of Adrienne, Lindsay, and Sire. There are too many players in it...that's the problem. Sure, there are lots of hot sex scenes and I like El's character but Vashti falls flat for me. I even understand that El & Lindsay have a relationship that I can see working into this story but for me, this book felt like there were too many stories going on which left it feeling like a total disconnect that could have been much better. I could see the potential...it just didn't come across for me. I much preferred the first book in this series over this one because you had clear lead characters with supporting characters. This book feels too much like there are several lead characters with their own stories rather than supporting characters.
I'm hoping the third book will be more like the first.

In A Hunger So Wild "the enemy of my enemy" is not exactly a friend but an ally born of mutual necessity. The Fallen(vampire) and the Lycan have a good reason for distrusting each other, but with a common enemy and a dire situation for the Fallen, the two races team up and the Fallen's second, Vashti, becomes liaison to the Lycans, despite the fact the she hates 'dogs' for killing her mate and must deal directly with the Lycan's alpha, Elijah, who she's sworn to kill for a more recent crime. And Vashti is on Elijah's kill list as well for murdering his best friend, but they'll work together for now, kill each other when they're done, and lust with a wild feral hunger for each other in the meantime.
A Hunger So Wild was so good. There is a decent amount of touch up with the past leads, Lindsay and Adrian, from the first book A Touch of Crimson, since the background story involves a conspiracy that impacts all three of the groups with past and present angelic ties. And I liked that there is good amount of development of relationships beyond the romantic ones in the cast - Elijah's friendship with Lindsay, Fallen leader Sayre's with Vashti, and a newly developing connection between Sayre and the fledgling who formerly housed the soul of his nephalim daughter.
I also really liked the enemies to lovers romance between Vashti and Elijah. There's a intense, wild, and almost feral chemistry between these leads. However, with two strong and dangerous beings who value control in the mix and so many reasons why a relationship between them is wrong - personal baggage and tested loyalties both - the course of their relationship is far from smooth (and their physical connection starts off with a scene that transitions briefly into iffy consent. ) But the conflicted lustiness makes for some very steamy times between them and I liked the final resolution for the pair in which they make a place for their relationship in a world where their pairing doesn't fit nicely.
For those curious about whether author Day ties the two Renegade shorts into the main story line, both of the pairings from those stories (A Dark Kiss of Rapture and A Caress of Wings) are mentioned briefly, but Raze's looks to be still in progress. Oh and for fans of Day's Marked series (Eve of Destruction, Eve of Chaos, Eve of Darkness) - which shares the same world as this series - there is a brief cameo by Eve, that series' heroine which is fun, but not enough to really catch up with her.
So, I really liked this steamy and satisfying addition to Day's Renegade Angel series and am really curious about how the background plot is going to unfold and I am also really looking forward to seeing Sayre in the lead - Day did a really good job of whetting my appetite for more of his character

Elijah is the hottest werewolf ever! HOT HOT HOT While I like Vash, I'm not sure she's good enough for him!
This book is a follow-up to A Touch of Crimson. While it will stand alone, I would recommend readers read Crimson before this book. I think the pieces to the puzzle will go together better.
Sylvia Day is the hottest writers going right now. This book will show you why. She has a poetry to her word phrasing that will pull you into the story and make you feel like you're there. While her sex scenes are hot (erotically), the build up to the scenes is so sensual, you'll feel the tension with every word from her characters, every movement.
I am DYING for the next book. I'm afraid Sylvia will be getting whining emails from me...I want to read MORE!
And I LOVED getting to see Eve again. If you never read her "Eve" books (from TOR), find them IMMEDIATELY! They will knock your socks off. In fact, now that I'm writing about them, I think I'll have to go pull my copies off my keeper shelf and read them again. They are THAT GOOD.

Elijah and Vashti tear up the pages in this smoking hot installment of Renegade Angels series.
We are introduced to Elijah in the first book and he flew off the pages with his alpha-male persona. Vashti is a tough and sexy second in command vampire. The two want to kill and bed each other in equal fervor. An alliance must be made because they have bigger issues to deal with besides the revenge they so desperately want. Putting aside their animosity, albeit not their physical attraction, they uncover a plot being made to set the angels, vampires, demons, and lycans to war with each other.
This book is fast-paced and super hot with plenty of angst and tension that will have you white-knuckling (in my case) the Kindle. Day does a fantastic job balancing these ultra dominant personalities, making the main characters submit and be vulnerable to each other. As hard and tough as the two main characters are they are both able to come together to form a love story filled with trust, passion, and friendship.
I can't wait for Syre story!

A Hunger So Wild by Sylvia Day
Paranormal Romance -July 3rd, 2012
4 1/2 stars
A Hunger So Wild is the second in the author's new Renegade Angels series. This book can easily be read by itself as the powerful second in command to the `evil' vampire population, named Vashti is severely tested.
Vashti is a fallen angel who was been punished by being transformed into a bloodsucking vampire. Although fallen, she was content, until the love of her life was killed by lycans. Since that time she has vowed to find his killers and exact her revenge. But without her love, Vashti's confidence has taken a toll. However, she hides this `weakness' behind a mask of cold efficiency for her leader Syre. But trouble brews when a mysterious deadly disease suddenly targets vampires. Unfortunately, the virus is spreading fast and they need help. Syre commands Vashti to seek out their old enemy the lycans. (Lycans were the loyal soldiers of angels sent to keep the vampires in check. But tired of being treated poorly, a large group rebelled and live on the edge of society.) For Syre realizes that the lycans may be open to mutual negotiation in their weakened state. Syre want Vashti to form an alliance to help battle the deadly virus and have added protection from the angels. Vashti grudgingly agrees only to meet with their leader, a reluctant alpha name Elijah.
Elijah has been trying to keep his splintered group alive and together. However, he quickly realizes that the vampires need his help and he isn't above using their desperation for his own needs. But when Vashti and Elijah meet they are stunned by their combustible attraction and the realization that Vashti killed Elijah's friend. They make a deal. Vashti's life for the name of the lycans who killed her lover. But all is not what is seems. And what happens when they uncover a plot that is meant to destroy both of their groups. Can they work together or will passion get in the way?
This book has a lot of attitude and is more thrilling than the first. The action starts immediately. In the first book, A Touch of Crimson, the heroine took a while to learn her abilities but Vashti is in her prime and not afraid to get a bit rough when needed. I was spellbound especially as the diabolical plot behind the death of Vashti's lover's was revealed. The ultimate vampire villain Syre has become one of my favorite characters. He is fascinating and even likeable as his motivations and histories are unveiled. The two main characters are kick a##! I particularly liked that Vashti and Elijah are confident in their powers and strong willed -a fantastic match! They definitely don't take any crap from anyone.
The past tension between the two fractions make for exciting reading. But what I loved was the sheer animal magnetism between the Elijah and Vashti. They literally can't keep themselves away from each other. I could feel their animosity but also the of control lust that burns between them. And the pages heat up as they search for the cure for the virus and try to find those responsible for the death of the Vashti's lover.
I highly recommend this spectacular paranormal read.

Elijah a delicious alpha lycan agrees to work with Vashti a vampire. They are trying to find out who is spreading this deadly vampire sickness.
Naturally they fall for one another. They are pretty hot together. Other than that the story isn't really too exciting. We learn some more about Adrian and Lindsay but that's really it. Cash is not the vampire that killed Lindsay's mom, it is someone that looked a lot like her.
Nothing gets solved, more people get involved. I guess Vash and Eli are involved. This is what I hate about most SD books they just end leaving more questions than anything else.

Second in the Renegade Angels erotic paranormal romance series revolving around three separate supernatural species--angels, vampires, and lycans. The couple focus is on Elijah Reynolds and Vashti.
My Take
A good read. Day set up a massive conflict, the underlying series theme, in A Touch of Crimson (Renegade Angels #1 and expands on it beautifully. It's making me itch to read the next in the series, A Taste of Seduction (Renegade Angels #3).
Day teases very well! She has also written some hot love scenes. I do like the balance Day is managing with all the conflict that arises. Vashti's traumatic past and the frustration she's feeling along with the pull on her loyalty between Syre and Eli. Then there's Eli's own complex path involving his need as Alpha to protect a pack he doesn't want, the importance of Lindsay's friendship, and his own sense of loyalty to Adrian. As for Adrian...he and Lindsay have a minor role here although I did want to cry in the scene where Lindsay confronts Adrian over his growing humanity.
I had been wondering how Day would resolve Adrian's sin of loving Lindsay. Several interesting possibilities including the truth behind Helena and Marcus' deaths.
Okay, Vashti's reluctance for the alliance may convince the lycans of the vampires' sincerity, but the vampires' desperate need will come out immediately. I wish Day had put a touch more separation into "we need each other" before leaping into "we need so much help". Heck, Vashti was fine with pushing at Syre for a few days NOT to do this!
Oh!! LOL, I did enjoy Eli's introductory position with Vashti. He just put it right out there--this is what I am, suck it up! The whole bit where each hates the other SO much and yet they leap into sex SO quickly was too fast. Although I also have to say that the fierce hatred and attraction also worked. I know, I know, I'm being contradictory.
Interesting questions being raised as to the truth behind the origins of the lycans--what the lycans learn as opposed to what the vampires believe. Then there are the revelations at the end. Eli is taking all this betrayal too easily--Rachel's reaction in the beginning. I'm wondering if Phineas is alive.
While I enjoyed the whole confrontation scene in Shreveport, Vashti's reasoning was off. That, or Raye was pulling one on her. It is creating an interesting conflict with Syre. I do like Eli's reasons for loving Vash...sigh...
Whoa! That encounter in Louisiana certainly brings additional clarity as well as many more questions.
The Story
Evidence of the stricken vampires is becoming apparent and Syre makes a bold move sending the lycan-hating Vashti as his ambassador to the rebelling lycans and their Alpha. Primed to hate, to rip each other apart, Eli and Vashti do. Only not in anger, but in lust.
Facing an unexpected partnership, both are loyal to their own with the added conflict of their own attraction to the enemy. A development that gives them the breathing space to discover a more perfidious enemy.
It's Grace's need for information the requires the Lycan-Vampire alliance.
The Characters
Vashti is a Fallen angel. A vampire and Syre's second-in-command. Vicious and brutal, she loves Syre very much. As a friend. Her commander. Her team usually includes Raye who can't keep it in his pants and Salem. Charron was her mate. Both were angels who Fell when they fell in love.
What did happen to Ice? Is he a party to this?
Elijah Reynolds is a lycan and one of the very rare Alphas. Loyal to Adrian and a friend to Lindsay. The sudden revolt leaves him in charge of the rebelling lycans. Rachel was Micah's mate. Eli owes her a revenge that can be paid with the death of Vashti. Stephan is his beta. Sarah is a young Omega. One of many female wolves attracted to the Alpha.
Ben and Andrew are two lycans who return to the Sentinels.
Lindsay Gibson held two souls. Her own and Shadoe's. Syre was Shadoe's father and it was necessary to turn Lindsay into a vampire to release one of the souls. She's a vampire now. One who can walk in daylight.
Adrian Mitchell leads the Sentinels. He is the captain and he's flouting the rules by being in love with a mortal. The same rule that Fell Syre, Vashti, Charron... Malachai, Geoffrey, and Damien are fellow Sentinels.
Raguel Gadara may be an archangel, but he sounds more like a demon. His territory covers all of North America. Evangeline Hollis works for Raguel and offers contact information on his allies to Adrian. Anything to shaft Raguel.
Syre was the first angel to Fall when he fell in love with Torque and Shadoe`s mother. Adrian cut off his wings and Syre became the first vampire and their leader. Torque is naphil--part angel, part mortal. His wife Nikki was killed in A Touch of Crimson (Renegade Angels #1.
Sentinels are the warrior angels charged with policing the Fallen and their vampires and minions. The Fallen are angels who fell in love with mortals.
Dr. Grace Peterson is a vampire scientist struggling to find an antidote to the disease destroying vampires, turning them into Wraiths. Her counterpart on the Sentinel side is Siobhán.
The Cover
The cover is orange. Against a titled backdrop of a nightlit downtown scene, a shirtless Eli adopts a casual stance, thumbs hooked in his front jean pockets and three nasty scratches marring his right pectoral muscle.
The title really sums up Eli and Vashti's mutual attraction with A Hunger So Wild.

I was a First Read winner of this book and I liked it so much that I will have to read the first book in the series. It was pretty steamy and had a good flow with great action and intrigue and likable characters. I did struggle at the beginning to keep all the different groups separate but it did not take away from a good read. I recommend it for anybody who likes a paranormal romance.

I liked the forbidden love aspect to it, although the story line was a little iffy. It was more about the characters falling in love and their crazy sex than what was goig on. It did lead to a wonderful cliff hanger though, so I am definitely getting the third book.

Sequal to a touch of crimson. Loved it. Cant wait for the next one. Instead of being about adrian and lindsey its about elijah. I like how the books intertwine although its a different story/perspective altogether
