Though I love the characters and loved every single other book before this, I did not enjoy this o e as much. It felt like a fanfiction. Like someone who wanted to be part of the story so bad that they made their own character and threw them in as Will's apprentice. I was gritting my teeth the whole time and had to resist the urge to throw it out the window. But I was still able to read through it.

I like getting my books on kindle because they are immediately. It's a great story and I hope he continues with this story. The ending leaves it open to future possiblities and we need to see more development of the next generation of rangers.

I bought the first rangers apprentice book for my boy when he was first starting to read books for school and after that I was hooked what I found interesting was not only was I hooked but so was my boy and for all you parents any time you can get your son or daughter interested in a book that's a good thing so thank you John Flanagan

I absolutely love the Ranger's Apprentice series! My granddaughter introduced me to the books and I have thoroughly enjoyed them. I am so happy that "the Royal Ranger" came out so I could revisit the beloved characters of the series and some new ones. I was not able to put this down! I have even made a camouflaged cloak for my granddaughter so she can be a Ranger's apprentice!!

An amazingly crafted book to end an amazingly crafted series, this book show a character who has represented joy through the entire series, being taken over by rage, before a young girl helps him return to his former self. Lot's of references to the earlier books, and I teared up several times!

Where does Maddie go from here. Want to read more. This series can continue for at least another 12 books. Have read this complete series at least 4 times and now have them on my kindle so I can re-read them whenever I want

I am a huge fan of the Rangers Apprentice series, but this book fell a little short in some aspects.

Pros:
It as well written and fun as its predecessors. It was great to see a more serious side of Will. I love when authors break their characters from their usually mold. It was also really interesting to really see the novels come full circle with Will taking on an apprentice.

Cons:

This book was lacking one of the biggest qualities I have some to expect from this series, the feeling of a grand adventure. This book is more about life coming full circle and overcoming hard times with the help of those around you.

All in all it is defiantly worth a read, especially if you have read all the other books.

but it lacks the feel of a grand adventure that is usually such a huge part of this series.

If you are a Ranger Apprentice fan you will enjoy this book as much as the rest!! I started buying this series for my son when he was in Junior High hoping to get him interested in something other than video games. He graduated last Spring from college and was on the Deans List. He still enjoys these books!!

The Royal Ranger is just a okay book. In comparison to the others in this series I would say it is my least favourite. Without giving any spoilers away I have to say the tone and style of the book seems a little off when compared to the others in the series. As a final book in a series I was disappointed in the way it ended. In my opinion a final book should be a goodbye for all the characters and all the plotlines. Which I do not think this book did very well at all, it seems more like an opening for a new group of books with some of the characters (which I would not be opposed to). The book preceding this one was awesome, my favourite out of all the series. So it is with a heavy heart that I give this book 3 stars and it only got those stars because of the recurring characters.

So after reading this great book, Flanagan opens up an opportunity for a whole new book and quite possibly another series together still in the world of Rangers (not in the Skandian world like in Brother Band) at any rate this is a great book and I had a huge feeling of loss when reading this, just seeing all of the characters grow up.

This is probably the best (and saddest) book by John Flanagan. I would read it over and over its so good! I love it! But you should really read the rest of the series first or this one will make no sense.

Well done Mr. Flanagan. I pretty much lost interest in Will and Halt and the Apprentice magic after the third book. This episode rekindled the intense adventure and true story telling hallmarked by the first couple. A great read!

This book was real. Realistic, and really good. Hard challenges, and harsh deaths. There was a gigantic twist- something unlike the series. Most importantly, it was perfectly written. It left on thing to be desired- a better ending. Let me elaborate. While the book`s ending did set up more books to be written nicely, it didn't have the tenacious twist the other books had as an ending. While much of the book was the twist itself, the ending was one you would see at the end of a vignette, all to blatant and slightly unexciting. And of course, it was predictable. Otherwise this book was a perfect achievement, with well developed characters, plot, fine vocabulary and a great writer with a great voice.
