I have advanced osteoarthritis in both hip joints and my knees are catching up. That means I was looking at a potential of four joint replacement surgeries. Or, I could try this form of exercise. This is the one, folks. If you have hip arthritis, pay special attention to page 226. One single exercise can turn your life around. Then, you get to select from 8 different workouts. At least one is sure to work for you. I do two different workouts and will probably try more of them. The first day I tried p. 226, I could only do two reps, slowly. The next day I could do three, slowly. A month later I could do 20, fast. So, it's possible to live with arthritis and retain your mobility, with minimal pain, and have a good life. Don't forget that a high nutrition diet is critical for joint repair, and meat just doesn't have much nutrition. So I eat very little.

This book seems to give good information, but I found the actual exercises hard to follow. First off, there was no warm up. I always thought it was best to stretch muscle when warm? Then, some of the instructions seemed incomplete, lacking how many reps and/or how long to hold the stretch. One stretch you had to repeat 16 times? Another you were suppose to hold for 1 1/2 minutes? Still another exercise had 9 different steps!!. Although the words "30 minutes" are in the title of the book, there is no way all these stretches can be done in that amount of time. I also found the smallish black & white pictures hard to see on my Kindle, and there is no way to enlarge them.

I thought maybe I would order one of the author's videos to supplement the book, but they were quite expensive, from $30 to $70 each!. Didn't want to spend that much after wasting $15 on the book. Luckily, I found some great basic stretching/yoga videos on youtube, and have been doing these with very satisfying results!!

Incorporated Aging Backwards into my daily exercise routine. I'm more mobile & have better balance & my knees are less painful. Now exercising twice daily & have more energy. 59 years young has never felt better!

I've been look for a stretching program for months to help ease tight muscles before and during workouts . I saw Miranda talking about this book and her DVD workouts on television . I bought this along w season 9 of classical stretch and in 3 weeks my shoulder pain is gone and so is the stress around my neck. I am surprised and still cannot believe this exercise method is so effective . If you're in pain, have little flexibility or are looking to get a spring back in your step, try this book and her workouts . They really do work!

I love everything about this book except for the lack of a video for the workouts. I've seen several of her videos, and they are flowing and subtly change positions for each move. That is impossible to capture while trying to manage a hardcover book. There are tutorials on the Essentrics website that help some, but having each of the eight workouts.

I have been using Miranda Esmonde-White's Essentrics stretch exercises for 7 months, now, with remarkable positive results. I had no idea how much atrophy I have due to not moving/stretching/paying attention to posture, etc. I bought the book to learn more and I did. Now, I understand even more how the body works and why the Essentrics is so powerful in 'Aging Backwards'. Great for all ages. Great for men and women. Get it. You'll be glad you did and will start feeling better. Soon.

A very informative book. Stretching exercises are explained well, and fairly easy to perform. It is easier for me to move freely, and I have had less pain since incorporating them in my daily routine.

Miranda Esmonde-White is so great. She understands the body better than anyone I've ever seen. For her it's not about a 'workout', but moving the body and all the muscles. Some of her DVDs are a workout, but the focus is movement. She's great! As someone who is getting older and has mobility issues, I find her easy movements valuable. So many older folks have found movement again due to Miranda, and yet she has routines for active younger folks. Her daughter works with her, and she has the market cornered as far as I'm concerned. They have great online customer service, as well.

Everything that Miranda says makes perfect sense. After reading her book, I purchased Series 10 and have been doing the workouts for 5 weeks. I love her program and look forward to my daily workouts.

I loved this book. She has wonderful explanations of the body and what works and doesn't work, staying healthy. Miranda Esmonde White also has videos of 30 minute stretching program. She has a program on my Public Television channel.

Wonderful insightful reading! Being a massage theapist this helps me explain the inportance of stretching and strengthing our muscles! A book to reread yearly! Also see her on Public TV in the am great way to start out the day!

A well thought out, and wonderfully put together read. Can't wait to begin my journey into the world of aging backward too! I just may have to buy several copies to give as gifts for those who have come to me privately and in complimenting me in my posture. A former model, diver and gymnast. I've already begun practicing through my reading this book. Happily invested!

i ordered this accidently..thought it was a dvd...have a lot going on...but wow..when i finally got around to reading it..i was blown away..so much of what we hear about exercise and aging is flawed..i had no idea about eccentic vs the other...not even sure how to pronounce...i'm only through about 40 pages, but this is informative, and teamed with her workouts really excellent....if you are a weight lifter, this is really important....

This book has changed my whole outlook on Aging and Health. I have purchased the CD's and having been doing the workouts 4-5 times a week. Already I am more flexible, my balance has improved and my posture is better. I strongly recommend this book and the videos to guide the exercises for anyone. Start easily at what ever stage and learn how to increase your strength and flexibility! You'll feel so good!

This system is huge success because it has been on public television. I'm about three quarters through it, and it is very dry reading, and I can't testify to the exercise routine except to have looked at the illustrations which seem to be clear to follow. It has a lot of information about ligaments and tendons and how the body looses it's functioning that was interesting, if you're not well informed like me.

The first stretch is very challenging but worth the effort and after a week, I am able to do eight repetitions. this book will help get me back to a dedicated attention to the body's need for disciplined exercise and daily stretching.
