Absolutely awesome book series. Easy to keep up with. As you read you can't help but relate to the normal human issues. As I read I would get anxious to see how the story would end and it did not disappoint. Looking forward to the next book.

Wow! This book was definitely not what I expected! It was interesting, reading from a male author's point of view for a change. Plus, it kept me interested (to the point I totally neglected cleaning my house!), trying to figure out exactly what the main character, Justin, really was. It was extremely witty and funny, with a lovable, romantic hero. It's not your "typical" supernatural story. I can't wait to read book 2!

Witty, snarky, suspenseful, very original! I read it through in one sitting. I love that Justin, the protagonist, is a teenage boy, on the edge of manhood. The author did an excellent job with interesting, believable, likeable characters and dialogue that was snappy, yet plausible. I like how the author showed his innate goodness, his courage, his love for the girl, his humor, his doubts, even his geekiness. The other characters were also well-portrayed. (I get so tired of the wimpy, dithering teenage girls who populate so many fantasies) The writing is excellent and the editing quite professional. I did not see one typo, misspelling, wrong tense, wrong word, bad grammar or formatting issue. I had to take time to write this review, now I am going to buy the 2nd book in the series.

I have read many urban fantasy series and this has made my top 3 to be sure of. With a balance of action, comedy, and emotion that has you cheering the main character in the first chapter. It is fast paced and keeps building until the end. I highly suggest to all. If you like JIm Buthcher, or Kevin Hearne then give this a try.

I really enjoyed this book! It kept me engaged through the whole thing. I wanted to keep reading to find out what would happen next. You can't help but love the main character Justin. He is nerdy but nice and very funny. Not many books make me automatically buy the sequel, but this one did. Thank you John Corwin, for a great read!

Corwin enjoys his way with words. The coming of age process that his main character must face is like no other I have read. The narrative is easy to follow and keeps you guessing. The dialogue is rich and believable and the characters are fleshed out perfectly. Can't wait to read the rest of the series!

I really enjoyed this book. The character development is the best part imho. I loved seeing how he developed his powers and slowly discovered the overworld of the supernatural. Gotta say I'm hooked... getting the next one now.
