I found the author's writing style to be clumsy, and a bit contradictory. The author describes Ben as being "excited" by the thought that his girlfriend Jules may have become a victim during the attack at their hotel. To me, something to be excited about is something that is good, fascinating, something to look forward to. A similar case is when Reggie has to " disable" his own security system rather than "turn it off. Some reactions from the , characters are a little over the top. Why does Amanda jump to the conclusion that someone is sabotaging her research the first time they see the gold man in the video? Also, Ben believes that someone is shot at the hotel during the attack. Who is this person? Was someone shot? If so, did they render aid, or leave the person to bleed out?

Was hopeful about this book, even though I didn't read the first book in the series. I was wrong. While the story itself was OK, the writing was not good. Many passages were poorly written, causing me to wish that someone had edited the work. It was distracting enough that I had to keep rereading passages to figure out what the author was trying to say.

Based on this book, he should take a lesson from Lee Child who gets more bang for his buck per word than anyone else. The jungle scenes poorly written. As someone else said silly. Maybe he was never in the the store or the jungle in general. Not realistic. Too much minutia - filler. A paragraph and a half on how someone walked onto a boat and down below. A decent, although more or less done already, plot and an unexciting read. I finished the book and feel it doesn't deserve more than a 3. I won't read him again as there are plenty writers who can put together a better story line.

The action in this book is nearly constant, however, the crazy twists and turns in the story make it so unbelievable that it loses its impact. Impossible situations coupled with miraculous escapes loses the reader's credulity very quickly. Given the complexity of the plot, it would have been helpful to have a map or two of the area of operations.

Nick Thacker noted that he was inspired to wrie this book by James Rollins' "the storeia". I must say, as far as I am concerned, he hit a home run. This was a fast-paced, action-filled adventure that I could not put down. I had read the previous Harvey Bennett book and enjoyed it tremendously. This book was head and and shoulders above it. The plot and especially the setting were great. The characters were vividly portrayed and likable and there was nothing I found wanting.

I anxiously await the next Harvey Bennett adventure!

Flying from one stunning impossible escape to the next, this story takes off like a jet plane on rocket fuel and just doesn't slow down. Moving from one exciting adventure to the next terror-ridden nightmare, this cascade of thrills is one "out of the frying pan into the fire" journey. The tightly woven onslaught from a hidden bunker to the Brazilian jungles leaves you breathless as you join in the search for the golden one. Also enjoyed historical archaeological aspects. Intensely riveting...

Ben and Julie met in the first book in Yellowstone while trying to stop a deadly virus from being released. Now they are fighting their way through the beautiful and deadly the store rainforest, with a pack of ruthless mercenaries hot on their trail. Survival is going to take a miracle just to get in and out of the rainforest because of it's indigenous dangers but being hunted by the mercenaries heightens the intensity greatly! Hang on, it's going to be a bumpy ride!!

Although I enjoyed the story, as I neared the end I found myself thinking this would never conclude as opposed to the usual wishing it wouldn't. Not unenjoyable, but for me, too many last minute twists diminished my enjoyment.

If you like non-stop action, nail biting suspense, twists & turns that almost give you whiplash and characters you either love or hate, then you'll need to read this book! This is the second in the series of Harvey Bennett Thrillers, and it is undoubtedly even better than the first as hard as I find that to believe. I can't wait for Nick to finish the next one!!

Writing was passable but story was so implausible it was hard to get through. If you've ever seen a bad movie with characters in a jungle or on a river, this will be familiar to you. Bottom line, I didn't read the first one in this series and after finishing I'm not even remotely interested in what happened before or after with these characters.

This was a great book, very enjoyable drama, humor, love! I really enjoyed it. But I won't be buying the next book in the series as it is too expensive, I can't see paying $7 bucks for an ebook, I think it's stupid to charge that much. You would sell more at half the price and make more money if you weren't so greedy, sorry but, that's how I feel!

Great story and characters. From Alaska to an innocent research center in Brazil to deep in the the store jungle, there is enough adventure here for anyone! Many thrilling plot twists with some neurological as well as mystical turns. I'm looking forward to the next Harvey Bennett novel!

This was a page turner. Nick Thacker is now one of my favorites. This is the second of his books that I read. I love his characters Ben and Julie.
Nick had the knack to make his characters belivable and make you care about them as they are racing through an action packed adventure. I caught myself holding my breath as I was experiancing the characters terror.

I read a number of books by this author and I felt that this was not one of his better work. I felt it started very slowly and without anything to hook me. If I don't get interested right from the beginning, it feels like I have to drag my way through.

I enjoyed the plot very much though at times it was a bit simplistic. The poor editing was distracting. I enjoyed the variety of characters but would have enjoyed more of Archie's analysis of the culture. That being said I very much enjoyed the story!!!

Poor science, a little less than exciting and a very disappointing climax and ending. I would imagine that the author had visited the the store before writing about it, but, you'd never know it from reading the book.

I just finished reading the the store Code by Nick Thacker. It was well written and full of historical and current details about the the store Jungle and El Dorado. It was a good fast-paced read without the vulgarities so many writers resort to these days. There is a good love story and realistic human relationships between the characters. I look forward to reading more by this author.

We readers are lucky to revisit Harvey Bennett again in the thriller, The the store Code. This novel broaches themes in a similar way to my favorite Thacker novel,The Golden Crystal, with the revelation of an ancient mystery. And this revelation comes at a price.

This is an adventure of epic proportions. Ben and Julie get themselves deeply involved in chasing the "Company" again and thwarting their plans. Along the way they meet some new friends and some new enemies. They discover answers to ancient mysteries as well as scientific advances that will shape the future.

While the some of the characters fall into predictably expendable roles, many others are entertaining and well rounded. Ben and Julie continue to grow and develop as characters in a pleasing way. They find themselves meeting professionals in the area of warfare and adventure. The contrast between the professionals in this area and the amateurs, Ben and Julie, is fascinating. We get a peek inside the heads of many other main characters and we can see there is a lot of depth there. We do not remain in their heads for too long though because there is so much action!

The descriptions of the setting has made the the store Rainforest come alive. The descriptions of the plant life, the human life, and the animal life were vivid and to the best of my knowledge authentic. The animal life was especially entertaining to me. The animals certainly brought lots of drama and suspense with them.

My one complaint is that the poignancy at the end of the novel could have been drawn out more. However, I am certain there is a vociferous crowd that would disagree with me. The ending was appropriate and tied in nicely with some of the more philosophical parts of the novel. I personally think those ties could have been lengthened, but that is my personal opinion. It may not be shared by you. So pick up a copy of this fast paced thriller and see for yourself just how the ending plays out.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The the store Code is an excellent adventure thriller that has a little something for everyone. In this one book you get action, adventure, mystery, technology, and even a little bit of romance. This book can appeal to so many readers out there.

Dr. Amanda Meron and her company stumble onto a mystery when viewing their subjects' dreams. Unfortunately, trying to unravel that mystery opens her and her company up to danger and disaster from the outside. This mystery will lead her and those helping her into the heart of the the store rainforest in search of the missing city of El Dorado.

The story is fast paced and easy to read. It won't take you a long time to devour. I also never felt like the book was too short. It seemed a good length to tell this story without adding unnecessary "fluff" just to fill pages. I feel like the story was fleshed out well and gave characters room to grow without boring me at how long it took for that change to happen. The elements of the story felt very believable to me.

I hadn't read the first book in the series, The Enigma Strain, so this was my first meeting of Harvey "Ben" Bennett and Juliette Richardson. I'll definitely be checking out the first book in the series as soon as possible. I didn't always like all of the characters when first meeting them, but as I let them be who Nick wrote them to be, they grew on me a lot. The way they were wrote gave them a chance to grow and become likeable if they weren't from the start. Ben, in fact, was one of those characters. From the start, I wasn't a big fan of his. It could be because I hadn't read book 1, but his character traits seemed so different from who I am as a person, that it was hard for me to like the guy. As I followed Ben on this journey, though, I truly started to like him and could appreciate the growth that he experienced over the course of the story.

I'll definitely be checking out The Enigma Strain and will be looking forward to the next Harvey Bennett adventure. If you've read any of Nick's previous books, you won't be disappointed by this one. It's just more of what Nick does so well, great story with a good pace to it. If you haven't checked out any of his previous books, then this is a good one to start with. It has great characters and a good story. You can't go wrong!

*I received an advanced copy of this in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

To a large extent, the story concept is okay but told in a linear fashion that tends to drag on. There are too many grammar errors and plot holes. Each one shocks you out of the story world and you have to start again, trying to build the rhythm, only to be knocked down again by another plot hole or grammar error. Please do your readers a favor and hire an editor next time. Logical errors are scattered throughout, like the lead character having a penchant for fine whiskey, only to be drinking rum in the final scene, when whiskey would be easily obtainable. Some villains were tied up in one scene, only to be set free shortly afterward, then the lead character is musing over the possibility of the villains being released from their bonds at some future time. Several scenes are set in the middle of a rain forest, deep under the canopy, at night, yet the intrepid band of heroes somehow manage to see amazingly well. There are several other scenes where there is far too much narrative and too little character dialog. It's difficult to enter the story world due to the lack of environmental observations and too many words used to state obvious things. Characters are referred to by an unsettling variety of names, right up to the end of the book, by which time, a first name is all that is really necessary. All up, it has the potential to be a great story but needs a fair bit of re-work.

Better than most of the freebies I got from Bookbub, but I didn't get very much into it before I lost interest. This is an author who shows promise, needs more depth, but has the basic craft under control.

Just finished the book and really enjoyed it. This is the first book i have read and although it mentions the previous book i found it enjoable and easy to read as a stand alone. However i will be going back and reading the first book which im sure will enhance the reading enjoyment of this and cuture books in the series.

The author has left the ending nicely open for a further book which is great and it doesn't feel like he will be scrabbling to find ways to carry on storylines which some authors struggle with.
All in all i found the book thoroughly enjoyable. A mixed feeling of Clive Cussler and Carolyn McCray and with a subtle hint of The River.

When I reviewed The Golden Crystal & The Depths I commented that Thacker's writings were reminiscent of James Rollins. This book continues that thought! I'm a character reader, I get into the characters, their story, who/what they are. In this, the sequel to The Enigma Strain, the characters were controlled and well developed. They are introduced in such a fashion that you can't wait to turn the next page and learn more about them, and the story line even more so! The suspense builds both in the characters and the story, although "Ben Bennett" seems to be more of an agent than a park ranger, a bit of a stretch. No spoiler's here, though I will say I can't wait to read his next book!

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. I was pleasantly surprised at the way the storyline progressed. If you buy and read this book, you are in for a real treat. It progresses steadily, but there are also parts of it that is a fast read. The characters are well developed and thoroughly believable, so much so that you can almost see them as existing in real life. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and as always, if it's from Nick, you can bet it is a good read. Actually, I'd say it's a great read.

It really is the best yet, but do read The Enigma Strain first, just because you can. This stands alone, but together it's even richer. This book "books it" in the fast pace department. It picks up and never slows down. It was great to read about Ben and Julie again. An ancient mystery has come to light. it keeps popping up in some dream research, of all things. That means trips. In this case, the the store Jungle, the rain forest and all it entails. An epic renewed search for El Dorado, the lost city of gold, buried or nonexistent, this lost treasure has been sought by many and now Ben and Julie are involved. It's a wild ride, with all kinds of impact in many directions.

I can't tell you another author to compare this too, because I tend to see each author as their own, not a duplicate of - "insert a name here." I can tell you, this is Nick Thacker's best book to date, and the other books I have read were not bad. We can only wait for what he writes for us next, but this one is a superb thriller.

My copy came from the author. I left this review because I wanted to, my thoughts and opinions are my own.

Nick Thacker has done it again. Taken us places we never thought we'd go. The first chapter of this book absolutely chilled me to the bone. And, the rest of the book was no slouch either. It was a thrill -hold on to your seat- ride the whole way. A few times I actually caught myself holding my breath. The characters fit together very well. Even if there was a little mistrust at first they ended up working together. I just loved this book. It was well put together with no grammatical errors that I seen. I will bet anyone who gets it will love it, too.

I was given an ARC for my honest review.

The the store Code written by Nick Thacker is the second book in the Harvey Bennett Thrillers series.

Dr. Amanda Meron is researching dreams. Specifically, she is recording dreams as her subjects sleep and then reviewing them. Her team is Dr. Wu, two technicians Johnson and Nichols, and two research scientists, Guavez and Ortega. She is conducting her research in Brazil, funded by a company called Dragonstone Corp, a company that has ties to the event that happened at Yellowstone in book one. Dragonstone has a hands-off policy, but reviews everything that is recorded and documented.

Dr. Meron, Ben, Julie, Paulinho, a friend of both Dr. Meron and Julie, and Reggie, an American ex-pat living in the area, head off on a trek through the up the the store River and through the the store jungle. They also have Rhett tagging along. They picked him up to fly the plane for the first part of the trip. None of them well prepared for the trip up the the store. Unbeknownst to them, they have a traitor in their ranks. They are also being followed by mercenaries hired by Dragonstone, to kill them and find the prize returning it to the company.

Although our characters spend most of time traipsing through the the store jungle, it is a very interesting story that explores the science of recording dreams and the idea of inherited memories in the human being. A quick search on Google shows dream recording is actually occurring. Fascinating.

Ben and Julie are the most well-developed characters. Dr. Meron starts out strong but then turns into a more two-dimensional character, having mentally checked out of the story. I can recommend this story to those who like adventure and science.

If you enjoy Lee Child, this story is perfect for you. It's even more perfect if you've already familiarized yourself with Nick Thacker's other works.

In a mix of action with real intelligence, the plot has plenty of twists that keep you moving along in anticipation. Smart characters and a thrilling adventure overall.

I have read other books by Nick and can honestly say that this is not only my favorite, but the one I will be telling my friends and family to grab! Highly recommend it.

After reading Thacker's "The Enigma Strain," I was hoping for an equally well written and suspenseful novel in "The the store Code." I was disappointed. Grammatical errors and typos aside, (I am finding many Kindle editions replete with them) this foray into the the store with main characters Ben and Julie and their unlikely crew just didn't deliver.

I thought the characters were fairly interesting, with their strengths and weaknesses well developed, but some of their thoughts and actions during one crisis after another were just not believable. Who stops to ponder their childhood or steal a kiss with an army of mercenaries bearing down on them?

Still, because Mr. Thacker's first Harvey Bennett thriller was very good, I will continue to read the rest of this series and some of his other books as well. Every good author, especially of the indie sort, is entitled to an occasional snafu...

I recommend you give this one a chance. ?

A very well-written, well-plotted adventure through the the store rain forest in search of one of the greatest legends of mankind: El Dorado. However, the lost city of gold is not what it seems. Author Nick Thacker hooked me from the get-go and I was off running just like the characters. He does excellent character point-of-view in each chapter and leaves you with cliff hangers throughout, urging you to read on further. His highly descriptive scenes make for an excellent mind-movie, placing you in the heat of the action. I devoured this book in just days. Looking forward to reading more of the Harvey Bennett Thriller Series.

The story here is fine. Not great, but fine. But the actually writing is abysmal and amatuerish. It was struggle to get through it. I really wanted to put it down and never pick it up again, but I’m fanatical in my need to know how a book ends once I start it. I thought I remembered enjoying the first book in the series, but perhaps I misremembered, or perhaps Mr. Thacker simply forgot how to write in between installments. Either way, this was amongst the most poorly written novels it’s ever been my displeasure to read.

If you want a good story, well-written with characters you can understand, and situations to get lost in, then avoid this book at all costs. I read a free copy, or half a free copy. Just as well, othrrwise I would have asked Mr Thacker for my money back. No plot, no characterisation - it could have been written with just one character who kept changing his/her name. I just gave up. What Mr Thacker needs is a good proof reader to remove the typos, a good editor to help out generally, and a good dictionary to use his vocabulary correctly. I must admit, I've not read anything else by this author, and shall give another book of his a try. If I can get it free.

I like most of the book. The story starts with a pretty good bang. In the middle of the book, the tale slows down. Also, there is a section in the book, after they cross the shallow river, in which the author starts explaining things too much in my opinion. The book becomes too wordy. Otherwise, it’s an interesting idea. I will read another of his books to see if I still feel that he unnecessarily explains too much. I would like to give this book a 3 1/2 stars, but since there are no halves, I’ll give three.

I absolutely adore indie authors. They write great entertainment, that doesn't break the bank. Nick did not disappoint. He is compared to Michael Crichton, James Rollins, and Clive Cussler. I was sucked in fast, enjoyed the premise, the mystery, and the adventure. I found this book is available on KU with audible, I downloaded that right after finishing!

This is an amazing book. You don't have to read the previous book The Enigma Strain first, but it really helps if you do. Nick Thacher is an awesome author. He writes characters that get you totally involved with them. You get to know them intimately and really care for them. There is never a dull moment in his books. He hits the ground running and never stops. You try to hang on until the end which you will never anticipate. I truly hope that he will write a third book in this series. Ben and Julie (the main characters) are so good together they deserve more books. Please take my word for it. You will not be disappointed in this book, or any of his other books.

Ben and Julie are back and better than ever. The the store is a scary place and to have mercenaries on your tail....well lets just say I couldnt put this one down. Nick keeps me up at night reading and being afraid to put the book down. Every twist and turn keeps you turning page after page. I have read a lot of thrillers by different authors over the years but Nick Thacker is fast becoming my favorite. Cant wait for Ben's next adventure.

Nick Thacker seems unable to put a foot wrong when it comes to writing fast paced page turning thrillers. Ben and July manage to pick up a clue as to Drache Global whereabouts as a dream researcher, Amanda, finds an anomaly in the results of her research as well as the rapid dissemination of the results to an investor. From there on all hell seems to descend on her and the deaths of friends and colleagues rises rapidly as clues appears to point to the mythical city of gold in the the store (Brazil).
Snuff said. A very, very good action thriller. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed the suspense and uncertainty with regard to the characters . I read this one because I liked the first book in the series but I think if I'd read this one first I would have been done. I'm still not sure if I'll read "The Ice Chasm"
This was an ok story. I thought the pacing was rather uneven & the characters, except for Ben & Julie, were pretty flat. I found myself wanting to know more about the rest of the group. Also if you hadn't read "The Enigma Strain" I think you'd be lost. All in all a decent story but, in my opinion, could have been so much better.

I just happened upon The the store Code, and I am stoked to read more of his novels. I've never been much for adventure thrillers, but the premise had me hooked from the get-go. You get pulled in by a wild premise, but it is well thought out and truly believable. Great likeable characters, exciting chapter cliff-hangers, and the writing made picturing what I was reading easy. I could definitely see this as a movie! I am massively picky when it comes to reading. If you like interesting, fun, heart-pounding (seriously!) books with an intriguing story line then check it out.

Dr. Amanda is researching dreams; how the brain processes and manifests dreams. A powerful corporation wants the results of her research, possibly located in the remote part of the the store. Her subjects with a special DNA line dream of a gold man. Searching for the origin of the gold man leads her and the team into danger from every direction. A fascinating look into dream research and the the store. For those enjoying danger, different cultures, and survival, this is a must read.

(Disclaimer: I was given a pre-publication copy of this book.)

After helping to save the world in The Enigma Strain ( The Enigma Strain (Harvey Bennett Thrillers) (Volume 1) ), Harvey "Ben" Bennett and Juliette Richardson are taking some time to get to know each other better. They have a holiday planned, and they are ready for their adventure.

Until Paulinho, a college friend of Julie's, calls her regarding a colleague of his, Dr. Amanda Meron, who heads a project that seeks to record people's dreams and is nervous about the apparent intentions of the silent investor in the research - a company that Ben and Julie unfortunately know all too well.

And there is a curious anomaly that is always present in the dreams...

Soon. all of them are drawn into a new adventure that is more trouble than any of them expected.

Once again Mr. Thacker takes us on a ride, and this one is especially bumpy. There are twists and turns both physical and emotional, threatening and frightening, and it's not always certain who can be trusted. There are deaths. A perhaps otherworldly connection. And a mythology come to life.

And again there is a figure in the background using technology in ways that will benefit only a few but could dominate the world if this was allowed.

Fancy a trip to the the store?

The book had potential. I desperately wanted it to have potential. Characters popped into the story without any explanation of who or why. Major characters. Their development and introduction were poorly handled. And given a bunch of trained men and women, they sure did male a bunch of stupid mistakes. But, the science behind the story was fascinating and I did enjoy the book from that aspect . I'd say give it a read. It was fun, exciting, with twists and turns.

Where to begin? First, the cover and title are what separated me from my money. I was expecting an adventure I could get into, like Crichton or Rollins. What I got was an amateur novel that was poorly formatted (all paragraphs have breaks between them and that got old quick). Best-selling author? Sorry, but I do not believe that at all. I've been reading techno-thrillers, sci-fi and other related adventure stories for 32 years now, and this is one of the worst. The characters are not believable. The dialogue is not believable. The beginning, as I mentioned, had real promise, but as the story went on (about 20% in) I lost interest.

The the store Code is definitely Nick Thacker's best book so far! So many parts of this book kept me at the edge of my seat & reading far into the night. I want to go with Ben & Juliette on more adventures around the world. I enjoyed all the characters - even the bad guys! I felt like I was there in the jungle with them as they solved the mystery & lived to tell about it.

I definitely like the author's writing style. The action and geographical descriptions are good however, the 'ruminations' of each character were too drawn out and repetitive in this story. Also some sentences in the beginning were missing a word.....editing issue?

An interesting take on an old legend: The Lost City of Gold. Although I did not "lose" myself in the story, I did enjoy it. There were some minor grammatical errors but nothing significant enough to detract from the story as a whole. I would recommend this book to a PG rated audience due to some graphic violent content.

Really good book! Adventure, history, greed, love, mystery, and lots of action fill this book. The plot grabs the reader within a few pages and takes the action non-stop to the end. A crazy quilt of characters with a nebulous journey ahead of them somehow make sense to the reader and makes for a super read. This is the second book in a series and I will definitely be reading the third. I know the beat will go on in the next one!

I am an avid reader of the thriller genre. I see potential for this author, however he needs to do some research on his subject i.e. (swimming the the store River and only encountering a caiman and a snake). Asthma and hyperventilation? One is shortness of breath and the other is too much oxygen.. The main characters were not developed and the story line premise definitely needed fleshing out. I stuck with it, however.

Likable characters, and quick plotting makes this series a lot of fun. The author keeps the story moving which allows for an enjoyable few hours of reading. It's not James Rollins, but give it some time, and this series and its characters may someday rival the good folks at Sigma.

I really thought this book was a believable the store journey in intrigue with so many surprises that kept the reader engaged and wanting more. I liked the descriptive backgrounds that played against the plot were realistic for the settings. It's a good read can't wait to read Book 3.

Nick Thacker continues to captivate with "The the store Code", continuing the adventures of Harvey "Ben" Bennet. Again the mix of believable technology with excellent character development and drama set in the the store is a mix that works wonderfully to tell the story. I really enjoy a book that capitivates me to stay up late and be anxious to pick it up again as soon as I wake. An excellent read.

Just finished book #2 and started #3; great series and looking forward to the rest of the books in this series. Will be reading the other series by Mr. Thacker. Keeps you turning pages late into the night. If you are looking for a new adventure writer give Nick Thacker a read.

Second book in this series, little better than first book, interesting characters, decent story, fairly quick read, pretty good adventure book, action, drama, and a little romance to make it interesting.
Good continuation of the series..

'the store Code' was absolutely terrific!!! Well written, suspenseful and extremely hard to put down! Once I started it, I read it straight through (in only 2 days...very quickly for me). Harvey "Ben" Bennett is my kind of guy!!! I refuse to give away the plot but the action keeps on coming. I thought I knew what was next and what I got was another surprise. I enjoyed 'Enigma Strain' a lot and 'the store Code' was even better. I can't wait until the next installment!!!

This is a continuation of the characters and broad plot of The Enigma Strain, which is why I read it. I enjoyed the degree of detail Nick took to set the scene in the the store, with lots of attention to the flora and fauna, and the dangers our characters faced as a consequence of being in that region. Give it a read. I liked it and think you will, too. Cheers...Ed B.

I've read several (maybe all?) of Nick Thacker's books, and have yet to be disappointed.

The the store Code is definitely a step in the right direction to put him on par with other thriller writers such as James Rollins, Mathew Reilly, Steve Berry, etc, but I often wonder if Thacker is perhaps holding a little something back that would allow him to better define his place in the thriller genre, and I'll throw out that it is secondary characters.

While Thacker's main characters seem to be mostly original, often times the secondary characters are a bit archetypal. Again, this has improved from book to book, but feels like the one thing that could really make his books stand out. This issue is not uncommon to thriller writers (heck, even some of the ones I listed above fall victim to this from time to time) but I found myself significantly more interested in the machinations of the main couple, and found myself quickly going through some portions that were more focused on the other characters.

Don't get me wrong, I have been quite pleased with the books that I have purchased (I received an advance copy of The the store Code for free), and definitely have enjoyed the rides, but what good is a review if it is not honest!

At the end of the day, The the store Code is well worth the price of admission, and don't be surprised if you finish it quickly (that'll just give you more time to dig into Thacker's other books - don't sleep on his SciFi!!!)

I loved this book and had thought I had already posted my glowing writing of Nick Thacker. I have read all of his books and continue to watch for a new book whether it is a part of a series or a new series. Nick has worked tirelessly to provide great books. If you haven't read any of his books - you need to! You will not be disappointed.

I met Lucas Carlson, writer of THE TERM SHEET The Term Sheet: A Startup Thriller Novel, at a writers workshop. He recommended this book to me. The overall suspense and the large number of pickles in which the characters find themselves makes this book a satisfying read.

The reason I'm giving this four rather than five stars is twofold: 1) the language did not match up with the plot at times--generally, over the top; and 2) the characters were not sufficiently developed. Harvey Bennett (Ben) is a terrific protagonist but the book would have more satisfying had his doubts, misgivings and fears been amplified. In this book, a group of untrained civilians are pursued by a band of mercenaries deep in the the store rainforest. Ben is a reluctant hero and very likable. I feel though that Nick likes him as much or more than the reader and thus cuts him a break in terms of really drilling down into the sources/psychology of his doubts and fears. Doing so would have made Ben's decisions, the overall action and the book much more satisfying.

Notwithstanding my comments on character, THE the store CODE is a very satisfying read, if for nothing but the action and suspense. Thacker is clearly a master of those elements.

Interesting sequel to Enigma, although given the timing between books, it would have been nice to have a few pages recapping the Juliette and Ben characters back story to help remember how they got to where they are today. Kept moving forward, but it was a little awkward how characters kept being added to the troupe with little or no compelling reason only to serve as a plot point later. (Trying to avoid any spoilers.) It quickly tied up loose ends at the end of the book, but didn't leave me feeling compelled to read the next in the series. Pleasant read.

I’ve recently found Nick Thacker’s books, and have enjoyed those that I’ve read. Nick’s story lines are fascinating. They have led me to research the areas he touches in his plots, and prove to be somewhat plausible. Looking forward to his next books.

Wow! Ben and Julie are back, this time in an adventure to the the store rainforest.
Along with some very interesting new characters, Thacker has written his best novel to date ( and I've read nearly all of them). So hang on to your chair because this is a wild ride from the get go. I can't wait for the next one.
I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is a very good book! I enjoyed his previous book involving Yellowstone, viruses and bombs; he tied them all together so cleverly! This book continued with the same two main characters, and further deepened their growing relationship. I also liked their the store jungle adventure; it was just like you were there. I'm now anxious for their next great adventure!

This is the second Harvey Bennett book and he does grow in one. This character seemingly prefers a quiet life but somehow that never works out. Perhaps it is his girlfriend who keeps leading him into danger. Well this book has it all in spades. Lost tribes, golden men, the great the store and mercenaries chasing them. Great read for adventurers.

This book is just as good as the ‘The Enigma Strain’. Another story line you can’t put down because it grabs you & you go to the next chapter & the next to see what’s going to happen next.Yes, there are some misspelled words but who cares! The story line & characters make up for a few flaws.

A book that starts a little slow but the suspense mounts as the violence increases. A group of people have to travel through thick jungle in pursuit of answers to their questions. Why is the gold man appearing in their test results. A lot of people are blown up or murdered as the story progresses. You form some attachment to some of the characters. The people in the story always manage to have the skills they need to get away from the bad guys. A story that will hold your interest even if you don't like the violence.

The book is good reading and there are lots of surprises unfortunately, the surprises are a little hard to accept. Being in impossible situations and escaping one too many times. But, I still enjoyed reading it and would do it again.

I like the plot and the way the main characters interfaced to try and solve the big mystery. I was a little disappointed in the ending. One chapter they get everything done in the the store forest and then the next chapter they are back in civilization. Nothing about how they get out of the the store.....

This is the 2nd book I've read (read the first in the series as well) and this was ok but the first one was better.

As in the first book, I feel that the characters are forever shifting and acting out of character as much as in. There is a lot of inconsistency that bothers me.

With that said, I enjoyed the story line even if I feel it could have been delivered slightly better.

But I'm NOT an author and he is... so what do I know. =)

Another winner from Mr. Thacker. I have yet to be disappointed by anything this man writes. It was a fast paced book that kept me reading until the end, and as always I was sad it was over. Definitely an excellent story, and I must say this comes close to being one of my favorites, if not my number 1 favorite of his to date. If you like James Rollins, and David Wood, you will love Nick.

Another page turner. Thacker does an excellent job of mixing myth, history and fiction in this adventure. I had a difficult time pacing myself because there was never an easy place in the story to put it down. Given that Harvey's nemisis isn't taken down yet, there'll be more books and I can't wait.

Great storyline with well defined characters. There is a clear line of thought with a defined destination. How real are our dreams, are they only a reflection of our waking life, or do they have an ancestral connection. There has to be more, this is a great story a great read, one problem where is book one?

I received the "the store Code" as an ARC but as always Nick has asked us to be honest in our reviews. I liked this book. I enjoyed the concept and found it truly interesting and I loved the settings. I like the complex nature of Ben's character and the growth brought to his relationship with Julie. I had a bit of trouble with some of the supporting characters. Dr. Meron was a hard mix for me to get caught up with. But what I like is that Nick Thacker is continuing to grow as a writer and his books reflect that. The "the store Code" is definitely worth the time and money and if you are a fan of the genre you will get some great entertainment. Looking forward to the next great adventure.

books why not you are missing out on story telling at its best

Nick Thacker has become one of my favorite authors! His books are fast paced with great storylines and characters! I have been reading Daniel Silva, James Rollins and Steve Berry for years and Nick is following close on their heels! Good book and follow up to the first in the Harvey Bennett series. The action and suspense was similar to the first book but the author did a nice job of making the story completely different and with a different premise while still working toward the same larger overall goal for the lead characters.

Nick Thacker has written a good fictional book which includes lots of detail on the the store Rain Forest and some of the local natives. The 'research' taking place that was being sought by the hidden companies was rather far-fetched, but nevertheless an enjoyable read.
