Bought this (among other llama books) for my daughter. The rhymes somehow really stay with her and she's often able to finish the second half of a passage once I start the first. I think the llamas look a little freaky sometimes but maybe that's just me.

We purchased this on pre-order and were very excited for it to arrive.
I wasn't as pleased as I was with the first two Llama Llama books. The rhymes and rhythm in this latest installment seem trite rather than charming, and the illustrations seem rushed. Whereas "Llama Llama Red Pajama" and "Llama Llama Out with Mama" evoked sentimental feelings and misty eyes for this mother of two, I was just ready for this current installment to be over. Still, it's cute, and my children enjoyed it.
If you're new to Anna Dewdney, try "Llama Llama Red Pajama" or "Roly Poly Pangolin" first. In my opinion, these are her best books.

The book was received without any defects. The daughter also all of the llama llama books. We've even started to push the 'llama llama' terms into our own daily life. "Llama mama is going to the store honey. She'll be back later ok?"

This is a fun, colorful picture book! The book
has catching rhymes to catch the attention of
a small child. I gave this as a gift along
with three more Mama Llama books and they
were a hit!

The books came quickly and securely. My son was so happy when he received these as a Christmas gift. I love the lessons and the fact that it's rhyming words. Illustrations are very animated making it a great read.

My 4 year old granddaughter absolutely loves the Llama books and I have to say I enjoy reading them to her just as much. The stories are funny and so real to a 4 year old. The illustrations are colorful and make the story come to life.

Llama Llama wakes up feeling yucky and ends up spending his day sick at home accompanied by his mama. Mama Llama does all she can to help her little llama recover but, go figure, ends up sick with the same illness. Luckily, Llama Llama follows his mama's example and knows just what to do to help his mama feel better. In her painted illustrations, Dewdney perfectly captures the trials of spending a day sick at home...expressions of exhaustion, red noses (somehow she makes a sore, red nose look cute) and mounds of handkerchiefs. She also includes plenty of expressive words revolving around the sickness theme (yes, shnorltes is a word in her book!)
Out of all the books in the series this is my favorite. For once Dewdney doesn't really address a behavioral issue, but writes of sickness and colds, something that all children and parents suffer with at some point. The premise is so sweet and tender -- Llama Llama and Mama at home sick together snuggling and taking care of each other. Even though Llama Llama becomes bored when he starts to feel better, he doesn't behave inappropriately. Instead, he finds a solution to address his boredom. His solution? Books! Any book that promotes reading together as a family (sick or not) is, in my opinion, a keeper.

Little Llama is sick at home in his red pajamas…and Mama is taking good care of him, of course! He has to deal with taking his medicine and resting, and as the day goes on and he starts to feel better, his boredom is quickly replaced when he realizes he now needs to take care of his Mama, who is now sick herself! The painted illustrations show sick and sneezing and crabby faces which contrast with the really quick and funny verses, sure to put a smile on your little ones face! I think this book is on-par with Llama Llama misses Mama as far as the easy reading rhyming, which is sure to get stuck in your head. When baby and I have both actually been home sick together, this has honestly been the perfect read to cheer us up! Read more at www.diapers-and-daydreams.com

Llama llama books are the best - in this book Llama and Mama both get sick. Explains that it can be boring to stay home when you are sick, but you can always cuddle with your mama! I did order this as a used book and would have preferred a better copy, but my daughter doesn't seem to mind.

My two year old LOVES the Llama Llama series, and this one is currently her favorite. I'm not sure why she's so into the storyline but she will read this book every day, sometimes several times a day. It's a sweet story where Llama Llama wakes up sick, his Mama takes care of him but along the way she gets sick too so really they end up taking care of each other. I highly recommend this author to parents with little ones at home.

Still better than most children's books, but not nearly as charming as other entries in the Llama Llama series. Plot-wise it doesn't seem to offer any good lessons, unlike "Misses Mama", "Mad at Mama," or "Time to Share". A bit of a disappointment.

Anna Dewdney's Llama Llama series was a favorite of my students when I was teaching preschool. Llama Llama Home with Mama is a wonderful edition to the series, one that I believe preschoolers will be able to identify with and enjoy, not just when they're feeling sick but when they want to be able to express themselves in order to explain how they're feeling on the inside. It gives words to symptoms and gives suggestions on how to cope with boredom. Start with Llama Llama Red Pajama and add the rest of the books to your child's library/reading experience.

This author has a great ablility to entertain with her rhyming books. This one is my favorite. I have ordered the others in the series of Llama books and have to say the other ones are a bit too negative, too much focus on tantrums, bad behavior and then a single page that extols good behavior. My grandson is 4 and has never displayed the terrible behaviors she has talked about in the books. Will wait til he is much older before I read them to him. The books tend to promote bad behavior that gets rewarded!

I am enamored with the other Llama Llama books. In fact, Llama Llama Misses Mama has been a part of my son's bedtime routine for months now, and I was SO ready to move on. However, this one just doesn't roll off your tongue the way the others do. I have read it aloud about 10 times to my son, and I still am stumbling over words. The rhythm and rhymes seem forced in places. I'm a big fan of the author and the series, but this one is not my favorite. Cute enough story line, but not enough substance to have this one in the regular book rotation for months on end...

I bought several of the Llama Llama books as they are well written and the children love them so. We read them over and over. This one is a cute story about being sick at home with mama. Love the lessons learned in her books.
