Not disappointed. As usual Jones sucked me in and has me ready for more. I wish Beep was named earlier, because that's annoying. But regardless I can't wait to see how she grows, her battle. How Charley finds her way back, how her new powers change her. It just gets better.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The surprises throughout were interesting but when it got toward the end I was completely startled and could not put it down.
There are a boatload of loose ends that are going to be fun t read to see how they play out.

Recalled other books more than once. Just very disappointing compared to the first seven. Costs to much for a book that's not on paper.I'm even debating buying the next one while I would like to know what happens it might not be worth it. :(

It follows in the footsteps of all the other "Grave" novels: excellent plot, great characters, and of the "I can't put this down until I've finished it" category!
I'm anxious for the next installment.

The Charley Davidson books are fast reads, not because they're easy, but because they're funny and witty. I love her Dialogue both with herself and with her best friend. The banter back and forth is hysterical. Actually all her banter with everyone is funny.

I've followed the series since it began & watched the author develop the characters and ease in telling the stories surrounding them. The first book intrigued me, now I'm into the story & the characters. Can't wait for each new book.

I've enjoyed this series from the start and loved each book. Eighth Grave After Dark is jaw dropingly (is that a word?) wonderful and full of awesomeness! Now, I must wait for the next book! I'm sure it'll be worth the wait =)

This series is so much fun! New characters are added each plot twist and book to keep is fresh and exciting. The original characters have grown through all of the suspenseful adventures and misadventures.

I have absolutely loved this series from the beginning. Started and finished Eighth grave in less than a day, I have to say this installment was fantastically gripping! There were many questions answered and many questions left to be answered, a great set up for book 9. I sooo need the next installment now! Lol, another home run for Darynda Jones!!

Good book, love the series, but starting to feel like it will never end. Sometimes that's a good thing, but feel like I will never get closure on this series! Great story line though, and love the characters.

As usual, Charley gets herself into trouble, reminds me of some of my friends, lol. The twists toward the end of the book are surprising, enlightening, and depending on your take heart wrenching. Can't wait to read the next book!

Another great book from an outstanding series. When I first read the synopsis for this series I thought it sounded totally unappealing. I couldn't have been more wrong. These books take what I previously considered untouchable subject matter and turned it into a brilliant combination of steamy romance, action packed, suspense filled entertainment. The author's use of humor balances the intense parts making an overall GREAT read.

Again Darynda Jones swept me away with this new development in Charley Davidson's life.
The style is great as usual. There is a lot of humour.

The rating is based on my sensation, the book is still awesome and at the end, right now I still more than enjoyed it and in truth the unfold of events in the book is, objectively, great and make senses. However I find the event at the end too convenient about what happened to Beep, and find it will have been, for my part, more satisfying to see more interactions between Reyes, Beep and Charley. Not that I know if there would be any, but in the strict next future, just following this book, it doesn't sound like it would.
And for the next one, to have Reyes and Beep together, not apart, I find would have been more satisfying. I understand totally the need for the story, for her to be kept away, and even knew it will happened as thus at the first apparition of Reyes' human parents on the scene. But I just feel it as too convenient, now we know Reyes and Charley has had a daughter, then this is not in question now. But also in putting her away, I find that the author as more marge to do whatever she wants now in the near future, now that she has taken care of the baby issue.
I just can't stop feeling like Beep was, for sure, necessary to the story, but in the same time, a burden. It's sure would not be easy for Reyes to try to get Charley back, fight the menace and take care of a new born, but it will have been, for me more satisfying. And less feeling like Beep is just being dismissed after fulfilling her role into the story and into Charley and Reyes relationship but also satisfied readers, but dismissed nonetheless in a corner because of the importance of her role and thus her huge place as a main character.
Thus my not entirely happy comment.

Highly entertaining, had me laughing out loud. Our heroine, Charlotte Davidson, goes by the nickname Charley, I'll just let that sink in a moment, shall I, is a grim reaper. Ghosts pass through her on their way to the other side, the good one. Usually, dead people pass on to their reward or punishment without needing to use her as a portal, but there are those with unfinished business and she assists them,
Charley is also a private investigator with ADD, an evil stepmother, an almost estranged sister, a father she adores. She also have a best friend, Cookie, and this friendship is rock solid. These women would do anything for each other and I appreciate that. They accept each other 100%.
Charley names things. Her cherry red Jeep Wrangler is Misery, "but not like the book."Her sofa is named Sophie. She has named her skull Fred, her brain Barbara, her right breast Danger, her left breast, Will Robinson, her right ovary Beam Me Up, and her left ovary Scotty. She has named another body part Virginia and I'll let that soak in a minute, shall I.
In a corner of her living room, there is a ghost she has named Mr. Wong who never moves out of the corner and is levitating a few inches off the floor. Mr. Wong never speaks, never leaves the corner.
There are several intriguing men in these books, her father and his brother, her Uncle Bob, Garret, a skip tracer/bonds enforcement, agent, Donavan, a biker and his group, Osh, a soul-eating demon, and our hero, Reyes, and I'll him surprise you, shall I.
Gotta tell you there is a series and I have only read the first eight before the remainder became too expensive for me. I think there are twelve out now. I'd love to read volumes nine through twelve. I obtained the first six for ninety-nine cents and because I was hooked paid a bit more for number seven and eight but I think this series is very popular and number twelve now costs $12.99. Yikes.
None of these are standalones. They must be read in order and it does get a bit tedious when the author repeats certain aspects of the back story in each of the volumes.
So much humor, so much loving friendship, tantalizing mysteries, pathos, these novels run a huge emotional gamut and I stayed with it through eight volumes because I just had to know what comes next.
The eighth volume ends this particular story arc and introduces a new one. Most annoyingly it ends on a cliffhanger.
The eight volumes are First Grave on the Right, Second Grave to the Left, Third Grave Dead Ahead, Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet, Fifth Grave Past the Light, Sixth Grave on the Edge, Seventh Grave and No Body, and Eighth Grave After Dark.

Loved this book and am already counting the days until January for the next. Yes, there was differences in this book and a little less of the humor. But I enjoyed it, reading the same book over and over without the characters evolving is gets boring.
