Leonard Sax has the experience and credentials to support this timely work. He effectively identifies and addresses social, educational, and behavioral issues of children and connects these factors back to the home. The emphasis of this book is not putting blame on parents. The focus is on identifying current factors, explaining how the situations developed, and suggesting what can be done about it. This book is written in a clear manner for a general audience. It is the first book I have come across that makes sense of what caused the shift in education, why current efforts aren't achieving desired outcomes, and what the family unit has to do with all of it.

Absolutely loved this book! I am not a parent but I do work in the Education System and have seen a lot of what Dr. Sax refers to in the book. I agree with it all. Wonderful book! Highly recommend for educators, and parents.

Very well written book. Reiterates the concept of important values each one of us should have that is already described in scriptures with examples that we all can relate from everyday life. Definitely, there is lot to be learned from this book and appy in life to raise kids to be happy than chase the pleasure. Author deserves applaud for speaking up the facts than trying to be politically correct. Again thanks to the author for putting toghether his life experience and research together in a way readers can understand with positive and negative examples.

Interesting book. I wish I would've read the fine print to see it was a library book because it has the cellophane covering. But that was my error, totally didn't expect to receive a library book. But it does not have any markings, so it is in good condition. I will read descriptions more carefully in the future.

Amazing book. If you are tired of everybody winning throphies for being mediocre. This is your book . Dr Sax open your eyes to the reasons why parensts just give up educating their children thus allowing teachers and Psycologist to fill potent drugs to children as little as 8 years old.

If you want serious food for thought about what drives your decisions and values for parenting, this is the book for you. Not so much a "how to" book, rather an exploration of the "why" behind parenting with the opportunity for parents to simply live out of that why.
