Following Gibson Vaughn through all 3 episodes of this series that go from bad to worse and far as Vaughn's life goes kept me in suspense for the 3 days it took me to read all 3 books. This may be Mr. Fitzsimmons' debut as an author but I sure hope it's not the last we hear from him. I wouldn't even mind hearing more about Gibson Fitzsimmons and his new "family ".

Interesting twist to a murder/mystery/insanity. Good reading. I recommend it if you like trying to figure out how the story is going to end. Had me going for sure. Ended well...but I had to wonder if it would. I enjoyed it.

After reading the first 2 books in this series couldn't wait to see what Vaughn would get into next...I found it easy to relate to Vaugh in the sort of way that he always end up in the middle of a crap..storm just becasuse he is a nice guy that wants to help people.

Meticulously crafted and stylishly written, COLD HARBOR doesn't miss a beat. FitzSimmons takes revenge to the next level in this highly awaited sequel to POISONFEATHER, pitting Gibson Vaughn against the insidious cabal of backstabbing power-brokers and ruthless mercenaries that have taken nearly everything from him. With the last vestiges of his past quickly fading, Vaughn embarks on a desperate, gut-wrenching journey of vengeance and redemption—joined by an unlikely ally and aided by a bitter enemy. COLD HARBOR exceeded all of my expectations...a bar set unusually high by POISONFEATHER. This is an entirely brilliant series of books.

While I was only ever so slightly disappointed with the ending overall the tension, urgency, and heartbreak of this novel came as close, and even sometimes surpassed, what endeared me to the first. I just blew through this whole series in about two weeks, it's just that hard to put down.

Each of these books has been very different and completely satisfying, hard to put down, and leaving you wanting more. As with the others, the ending was hard to imagine and thoroughly Gibson Vaughan.

Cold Harbor is the third in the Gibson Vaughn series by Mathhew Fitzsimmons, a thrilling trio of espionage, hacking, politics and murder that goes deep within the US government.
After 18 months of harsh imprisonment in a black ops site, Vaughn now wants revenge. He's trying to put his life back together, get rid of the "ghosts" from his past and move forward but his need for revenge and his past won't allow him to do that.
Let me say at this point that I wanted to read this book because of the blurb attached to it: Expert hacker wrongfully imprisoned by the CIA now on a mission to find the man who put him there. In my mind I was picturing a book about someone like Ed Snowden. What I got instead was another Tom Clancy knock off. This book is about Spooks. Period. Cold Harbor is a euphemism for Blackwater, the horrific defense industry free for all that is a bastion of corruption. Had I known this is what the book was about, I wouldn't have read it. That said, if you're in to this sort of thing then I'm sure you will like it.
There are parts that were absolutely too unbelievable for me. Example given: after 18 months in a hole with no light whatsoever and nothing to eat except protein bars, two a day maybe, when Vaughn is released on a sunny day HE GETS UP AND WALKS MILES TO THE NEAREST HOME. There are many more examples like this. I simply couldn't suspend belief for all of them. Also, it is important that you read the first two books in the series before reading this one. These are not stand alone books and each builds on the storyline of the previous novel.

In some ways this was a definite sideways step from the first two books... Much more in the kind of the main character. Very good though, and really added a depth of storytelling to the series. Highly recommend.

If you enjoy well written and substantive thrillers, the Gibson Vaughn series is for you. Excellent plot, believable characters, and tension all combine for an absorbing read. I can only hope FitzSimmons has more to tell us about Mr Vaughn.

It’s amazing how the author brings all his loose ends together and ties a neat bow around the whole package. I’m curious to know what lies in store for the fourth book since the ending of this book was satisfying in and of itself. I liked how he brought back many characters from the first two books, seemingly so his protagonist (and the reader, too, I guess) could have closure with all of them. And though I will have to re-read the first two to remember all the twisty, convoluted details of the various conspiracies, there were enough references to past events in this book that I remembered the important things. The description of Gibson’s isolation and subsequent delusions was very well done, and his psychological transition throughout the book made total sense. Fitzsimmons is a talented storyteller.

Matthew Fitzsimmons is becoming a favorite author. His stories are very good and hold your interest. I especially enjoy his writing style. I’ve pre-ordered Debris Line and will find it hard to wait for its release.
