The QI writing team does it once again, this time compiling facts from ten years of the show into a rapid-fire hitlist of information. What's nice here is that the facts aren't totally random. Some are grouped together according to theme or word, and they've even got citations for each in a lengthy index in the back.

While other books claim to be "bathroom readers" designed to entertain readers for the long-haul, this one would do suitably for short 15-second trips if necessary.

Can't stop reading bite-sized chunks of information. Try it - impossible to stop once you get going. Heartily recommended for anyone who likes interesting facts, just like the show without the wonder of Fry.

I was hoping for a little more background info behind the facts, but they really are just short sentence statements for each fact. My husband likes to learn random facts so I got this as a gag gift for him, but there was no info as to why the facts were true so it wasn't actually that interesting to read.

This book is exactly what the cover says - an array of 1227 facts. Generally of a quirky or weird nature there isn't any reference for any of them though there is a site you can go to for that.

The book is a natty little hard cover affair with a brief introduction and not a heck of a lot else apart from the facts. They are arranged to a certain extent in groups though given the diversity of subjects there isn't really any topic that gets covered to death. It is actually part of the books charm that it jumps around so many topics. I would however not expect this work to really improve the knowledge of any reader. To my mind there is a difference between actual knowledge and the learning and retention of trivia, but for a fun flick through it does the trick (some might call it a good 'bog' read).

Get it for that friend of yours who always knows everything.
