Absolutely gorgeous illustrations.

Despite what another reviewer has stated, this book is progressive with feminine figures represented hiking (Iceland), Cross-country skining (Sweden), Nordic walking (Finland), ping pong and tennis (UK), and more. They include several female authors, Marianne, female archers, Cleopatra, and more. This is NOT a comprehensive list of famous people from various countries. Instead, it is a beautiful overview of the countries.

The illustrations are phenomenal. Each page has so much depth and character. The figures are stylistic but anatomically correct. Each page has multiple stunning animals, the sports from the area, different groups of people, clothing, and food. It highlights certain things that are visually appealing and culturally unique. If you want to know a variety of different aspects of the world's cultures, this book is essential.

I pick this book up often and flick through. It inspires me and is a great jumping off point for learning about an area. If you don't already own this book, and you love cultures, geography, history, or world building, it is essential!

Gorgeous illustrations and nice big book size. You could read it again and again and always find something new. My one complaint is that the countries we really wanted to see (in Central America and Africa) are not are included. This was a huge disappointment!

I almost did not buy this book for my granddaughter because of reviews that said Ireland and Israel were not in the book, but these comments were so misleading. These countries are not FEATURED countries, but they are certainly pictured in this beautiful, fascinating book. I have enjoyed looking through it and believe it will be a great Christmas present for my granddaughter.

My seven year old grandson, who loves maps and geography, absolutely loved this book. There was so much to learn from each page. It showed what the countries were really about, through its detailed drawings of the people, clothing styles, manufacturing, food, and agriculture. It must have taken the author a huge amount of time to compile the facts for each country shown, and then to have detail drawings for each thing..Quite a unique geography/map book indeed!

This is an amazingly beautiful book - for adults and children alike! I bought it for our children after seeing it at a local Anthropologie store and thinking about it for weeks...the kids look at it for hours, but we've left it out as a coffee table book and adults like it just as much. My favorite book of maps ever - and I'm a big map lover!

Beautifully artistic representation of an atlas. I gave this to an adult friend for her birthday--and she loved it. It sits on her coffee table for adults and children alike to enjoy. It's important to note that not all countries have a separate page of information (as a reviewer noted that her English-language version of the book didn't have a S. Korea country section--while her Korean-language version did.) I knew to expect it, but I still wanted more drill downs on countries/regions. But, I'll likely buy this again (and again) for my younger family members.

This is absolutely stunning and thoroughly entertaining! It is a rather large size book. The maps of continents/countries are illustrated with animals, points of interest, and people, as well as notable facts about locations and famous residents. It will take us a while to get through all the maps, but so far the dozen we have looked over are wonderful and I would highly recommend this book to anyone of any age who enjoys exploring the world.

Absolutely fun and gorgeous book of maps. Sure, not everything is included, but that's what accurate maps are for. The way the countries are presented with drawings of animals, landmarks, etc. that can be found in them makes for delightful adventures with a child and really helps them connect with those countries. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with children.

Great book for kids who like maps, flags, geography, and learning about new places. Not every country is in the book, but enough for a young child (5-10 years old). Kids can look at it on their own and just look at the pictures, or with a parent to explain more about each country. Really beautiful drawings and great design. We LOVE this book!

Saw this in an Anthropologie store, of all places, and was instantly enchanted with it. Our children really enjoyed looking at map books as children and this one is created in a fun, large scale with a lot of information on geography. Great for inquisitive children while helping them become geographically literate.

My linguist husband is really into maps, geography, and anthropology and this book caught his eye in the bookstore. He gave it such high praise, I ordered a copy for my nephews for Christmas a couple of years ago and then had to get one for him as well! Since then, it has become my go-to gift for baby showers and kids birthdays. Bonus - the parents always seem to love it as much as the children. The book is oversized and great quality. It's one of those books that kids will treasure and want to carry into adulthood with them.

This book is gorgeous and has so many little snippets of information for many countries and continents. The drawings are beautiful and it will be a great book for my daughter to flip through. We loved this book so much that we've been getting it as a gift for other families with children that love to travel.

This is a wonderful book for a visual learner. My son hasn't quite taken off with reading yet, but he loves to look at pictures. This book is a visual feast, and a wonderful way to learn world geography.
