Mitchell's imagination, already ferocious and able to make seemingly anything work in his fractured, polyphonic works like 'Cloud Atlas' and 'The Bone Clocks', can also just hone down on a single setting, in this case, early 18th century Japan, and write the HELL out of it for almost 500 pages.

Review:Not enough reviews help prospective readers know more about this book. Obviously, if you're planning on reading this one you're a long-time fan, but it never hurts to know what's going on.

Review:I had a really hard time getting into this book, or warming up to it once I did. I wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't. I stayed with the story to the end, hoping that Bev would have this big triumph moment. She did in a way I guess, but not the way I'd hoped. This is advertised as a Romance/ Comedy, but I didn't find anything funny about the way everyone treated Bev.

Review:Why do these entertain me so? I feel stupid, but at least I am not alone. They are funny but oh so ridiculous. Ranger asks Stephanie to plant a bug in Dickie's office.
