Review:I won this book as a goodreads giveaway. I really love the cover of the book and it's very fitting to the story. The dedication is so sweet, and will probably stand out in my mind forever. That just brings tears to your eyes every time you read it. The story is inspiring. I would love to quit my job and travel. As exciting as that is there's a lot of unknowns which can be scary. Something I did while reading was googled images of the locations Kyle and Ash visited. Great writing to describe each... Read more

Review:Trying to find ingredients to make "Peaceful Dreams" tea turns out not to be a "simple thing"! Actually not many places in Houston that sell blend-your-own-tea ingredients. We had a place 4 blocks from our house - but it closed last year. Read more
Review:As a parent of a child with high functioning autism (aka, Asperger's syndrome), I'm struck by passages in McCarthy's book that seem to be lifted out of descriptions of life written by people with HFA. I would never diagnose someone (I certainly don't have the credentials), but I wonder if the personal insight in this book, plus the feeling of being isolated from others all his life, doesn't suggest to others the possibility that there are many different factors at play here, possibly including A... Review:Gripping! Wonderful factual account of what happened in 1967. Too bad that we don't know what happened many years later, and too bad (spoiler alert!) that they never found all the bodies! What was really wonderful was the commitment everyone had in finding the climbers, and the agreement with everyone that weather on Denali can be a Death wish. Tho sad, and tragic...author did a great job of bringing the reader in. Keeping it real. Great read!~ Read more
Review:I have been reading this book over and over again since 1977 when I was a wilderness ranger for the US Forest Service in NW Wyoming. Its a wonder journal of travel and in a few instances hair raising escape. Its great for reading a few pages at a time as one camps out in the Rockies, Yellowstone Region and visualize the life of a trapper moving scross this landscape. I lost my old copy so I bough this one. On the downside this book is made for people with microscopic vision. Why did they print s... Read more
Review:It was interesting, but I eventually stopped reading it out of frustration with the author who started contradicting himself in terms of what these people's culture means to them and certain characteristics of it; and not in the way that shows growth or a change of heart after having experienced living amongst them for a longer period of time, I mean outright conflicting descriptions. I would still recommend checking it out just for its uniqueness. Read more
Review:Rohinton Mistry's FAMILY MATTERS is the story of differing attitudes toward caring for the grandfather of the family. The more affluent household is repelled by the everyday requirements of taking care of an entirely bedbound elder. The less affluent household is more flexible and creative, and winds up helping grandfather through the rest of his life.
Work and young children are important parts of the family equation. The struggle to get more money in an established clerk's job winds up ... Read more
Review:I love this little book. It was really helpful and just the right size to put in my purse or backpack. I
Really liked how easy it was to use. Plus, as a chef, the food dictionary was great.
I give it two thumbs up! Read more
Review:Great book! I love this author and have consistently read his fiction (with Lincoln Child) but his non-fiction is so well researched. I live in Arizona and I've never learned so much about this state and Southwest until I read this book. Highly recommended to everyone who loves history well written. Read more
