Review:Dean Koontz is one of my favorite writers and usually my go to guy for a good, absorbing read. This novel had me lost with all the characters. Some of them were very interesting and I wanted to hear more, but then they disappear. After a while I was losing track of them and had to stop a few times and go, "who is this now?" I also was getting lost in the plot. It's not very tight and little too big and unwieldy. Koontz makes a lot of the mistakes newbie writers make in this one. A good pr... Read more
Review:Unique description title, eh?
Liverpudlian Clive Barker penned this disturbing gross-out about twenty years ago and most predicted it would be the novel that would launch him into fame and fortune and set him atop the throne of "Reigning Master of Horror" occupied by Stephen King. Well, that didn't happen, and I think the main reason---aside from the fact that King is simply a superior writer---is that Barker's tales, be they short stories or epic novels, concentrate so intently on being ... Review:Losing a mate has shaped the way that Mason leads his life. Shunning the status of King to his fellow wolves, and trying his hardest to ignore urges that clearly are not suited to his kind. It’s a battle that rages in the depths of Mason’s soul. A fight that he is slowly losing.
When Serenity comes into Mason’s life, the urges that he has pushed aside begin to fight to the surface. Healing Serenity is only the beginning. Mason quickly finds himself drawn to the vampire in ways that a wolf... Read more
Review:This series gets stranger with each new book, and this new one is no exception. There is a lapse of numerous years, which isn't really explained, but doesn't appear to bother anyone: they are used to such things happening. Some old characters are found, and there are a number of new ones, which make the plot very interesting. I won't even attempt to give a short history of the plot: read the bok for yourself, and hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I did. Read more
Review:I'm a relative newcomer to the Posie books within the last few months and devoured the first two in the series. With the 3rd and 4th being released simultaneously I wish that I could say I savored them but I read them both. What I really like is that this book has a different feel.from the others-a slightly more serious tone which makes it no less enjoyable. Without divulging too much, this book sees Posie looking back into her own painful past but also forward. The years between the wars in Eng... Read more
Review:I have read all of Sigurdurdottir's mysteries and enjoyed them. so I was intrigued by her shift to a writing a ghost story. This book has all the tension of her earlier books, with the addition of quite credible - and unpleasant - spirits of children who died untimely deaths. Read more
Review:The "haunted house" has been done to death, and thus it takes a writer of considerable skill and imagination to write a "haunted house" novel that isn't just a re-write of a dozen (or maybe a hundred) other novels that preceded it. In doing so, Siddons took on a very formidable task-- and that she largely succeeded in her endeavor is a credit to her skill and imagination.
*WARNING:* Those who think that a "horror" novel must have guts and gore dripping from every page will be sorely dis... Read more
Review:Broken Monsters is making me reconsider genre novels. This was equal parts urban politics, tabloid drama and supernatural thriller woven together. Very satisfying read, especially as a new resident of Metro Detroit. Read more

Review:Like the first book, I found this one very enjoyable. I thought the adventure back in time was even more engrossing here than in Angel Time. However, like the first book, I felt the adventure was too truncated. I'm used to Rice really delving into detail and emotion and I thought this adventure was sadly slight. It was still entertaining, I just felt could have been expanded. It ended on such a startling moment that I am anxious for a continuation of this series though after so many years I'm no... Read more
