Review:Merciless is a hard book to review.
I Really liked some aspects of it, but there are others that I just didn’t care for.
First I want to say I was initially drawn in by the looks of the book. I mean this is a hot pink hardcover and it is absolutely stunning. I love that there is no dust jacket and that it has this awesome canvas feel. The only thing that really gets me is the actual cover. I don’t like that there is a pentagram/or pentacle (whichever you want to call it) on the cover.... Read more
Review:Reading Defender was like falling in love with RA Salvatore's Drizzt Do'Urden novels all over again. Crane tells a captivating story, full of action, character growth, and ridiculous jokes. Fantasy novels have a tendency to focus too heavily on certain elements of a story (like a character's religious journey, how they feel about their family, an inner monologue, love interests, or just plain combat mechanics) but Defender is well-balanced and plot development is natural. I hate it when you can ... Read more
Review:Well, last time I read this, I gave it 5 stars, but I didn't write any notes about it, so I'm not really sure if I liked it more, or if it's just a case of ratings inflation that happens once in a while.
NYPSD homicide lieutenant Eve Dallas is up against a pair of killers this time, loosely based, I believe, on a real story from some years ago. It's two privileged young men (this isn't a spoiler--we know this from the beginning) who are playing a game, seducing and killing women they've s... Read more
Review:Linda Castillo's Sworn to Silence provides nonstop action and excitement. Castillo's Pray for Silence was a Christmas gift and after reading it I ordered Sworn to Silence. Both are excellent reads and are two of the best mysteries I've read in a long time. I highly recommend both. Read more
Review:The first two thirds of this YA thriller are well worth the price of admission and include all the requisite elements of jeopardy - a spunky teen still reeling from the confusion/devastation of her mum's inexplicable disappearance five years previous, a wealthy, control-freak matron in an isolated mansion replete with sneaky servants, and a hottie boy who may or may not be part of the malevolent machinations to keep the heroine off-balance. (Oh, and there's also an inquisitive kitty that a tad t... Read more
Review:For those unfamiliar with Faye Kellerman's early work, than this is worth the read just to get the back story on her characters. The plot becomes bogged down in characterizations that mask a thin and somewhat incredulous plot. Read more
Review:I have read every book that "THE MASTER" JAMES P. has written. I have never given him less that 5 stars (including Quickie). But this #3, I really thought I was reading an Al (sic) Gore proaganda paper or michael (sicko) moore, "Why we should have a Socialist Society." I sent my Grandaugther the trilogy and after reading #3 she ask me if I was joking giving her such left wing liberal junk. I still love patterson and his writings, but does not have implant his personal beliefs into his books or h... Read more

Review:Pretty Little Liars and Scream Queens move over because this little mystery is going to give you a run for your money. Penelope tries to run the Larks club as efficiently as possible but even she sees the girls she spends the most time with have transformed into the mean girls of Cape Bonita High School. When her frenemies start turning up dead, Penelope becomes concerned that more of the Larks are being targeted. This was an addictive little mystery with Penelope having no idea who she could re... Review:Never judge a book by its cover! Lesson learned, as initially, that was my enticement; however, contents do not live up to the expectation. Certainly, the author’s idea was present, on the surface, but failed to deliver.
Asylum outlines a group of teenaged whiz kids partaking in a summer college prep course while being housed in a historical sanitarium. Roux set the stage with creepy off limits areas and inquisitive kids but failed to develop either a plotline or conclusion, ending up wit... Read more
