Sea of Silver Light: Otherland, Book 4
Sea of Silver Light: Otherland, Book 4

Review:The conclusion to Tad William's _Otherland_ saga, _Sea of Silver Light_, is a massive, sprawling, complex, sometimes confusing, but ultimately satisfying journey. The plot turn that closed Volume 3, _Mountain of Black Glass_, has left Our Heroes divided once again, and with some peculiar choices in travelling companions.
Though their separations, combinations, and ultimate reunion do drag on, there is little of the aimless feel that plagued the previous two books, especially the second, _Riv... Read more

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

Review:Very enjoyable read! For a long while, I'd wanted to read the complete and unabridged version, so my parents picked up this one for me. There was a lot of fish classification, but that made it a little like traveling under the sea with a scientist as a tour guide. Neat stuff.

If your looking for something action-packed, this might not be your read, due to the long distance between exciting scenes. Read more

In the Midst of Winter: A Novel
In the Midst of Winter: A Novel

Review:Isabel Allende, like any prolific talented writer with a long career, has themes that are very meaningful to her, and she explores them in book after book. Politics, family, generational pride and history, human rights and, of course, passion and love are some of these pertinent topics. IN THE MIDST OF WINTER is another example of the beautiful prose of this remarkable strong woman, activist and writer whose every tome seems to only deepen our respect for her talent and wisdom.

The Vampire Lestat: The Vampire Chronicles, Book 2
The Vampire Lestat: The Vampire Chronicles, Book 2

Review:By one of my favorite authors. I have recommended it to family and friends time and time again. While this whole series is something I like to read every few years, I enjoy books 2,3,and 4 the most. Kicking off with my very fave #2 The Vampire Lestat. Then is #3 The Queen of the Damned. And finally the hilarious, stressful and some say "odd duck" book #4 the Tale of the Body Thief. Consequently it is a bit of an odd duck in that for books 1-3 you are cruising along at the speed limit and suddenl... Read more

Cat's Eye
Cat's Eye

Review:Elaine prefers to be called a painter rather than an artist and is in Toronto for a retrospective of her work. This novel is a retrospective of her life, which was happy until her family moved there while she and her brother Stephen were children. Her parents are a bit nebulous and beyond eccentric. Her father is an entomologist who settles his family in Toronto when he takes a college teaching job. After a nomadic life in motels and campgrounds prior to that point, Elaine is not equipped fo... Belgarath the Sorcerer
Belgarath the Sorcerer

Review:This book is the story of Belgarath the Sorcerer who is over seven thousand years old. It takes place from his childhood all the way to well past his seven thousandth birthday. I wouldn't suggest reading this book unless you have first read the two series the Belgariad and the Mallorean. This story tells most of what is not told in those series.

The book is written like Belgarath is telling it. The author does a great job of writing the entire book in first person. And seeing as Belgarat... Read more

Rilla of Ingleside: Anne of Green Gables Series #8
Rilla of Ingleside: Anne of Green Gables Series #8

Review:I enjoyed this book, and the continuation of the Anne of Green Gables series. It's been fascinating to go along with Anne on her journey and to see her story leave off while beginning those of her children. It's also interesting to see a (sort of) first hand account of what it was like to witness the events leading up to and during the first world war, and the hopes that those who survived the war had for their futures (some of which would ultimately be shattered). I would recommend this book to... Read more

The Riftwar Saga, Book 2 - Riftwar Cycle
The Riftwar Saga, Book 2 - Riftwar Cycle

Review:The Entire Riftwar Saga, by Raymond E. Feist---Don't forget
this name!! This 4 book series builds with almost nothing in
the way of fast happenings... It builds like quality foreplay
to that perfect conclusion: the satisfied reader!! Hints of
happenings dropped in the first book suddenly appear in the
4th book... never a loose string dropped: and there are many!
Everything throughout the 4 book series is interconnected.
The plot pulls along a beginning reader, drawin... Read more

Wherein Magic Gourd Advises Young Violet on How to Become a Popular Courtesan While Avoiding Cheapskates

Review:Nice little titillating read. I was expecting a plot though. I enjoyed the lesson and found it somewhat erotic, but I expected the story to develop. I understood that this was meant to be a prequel to a novel. I am still hopeful. Read more

What the Dying Have to Teach Doctors - and Their Own Family
What the Dying Have to Teach Doctors - and Their Own Family

Review:I recently lost my mother and was recommended this book.
I found it a good read however is more for dealing with someone who is going to pass soon rather than dealing with the grief after.
In saying that is did help me with how I was feeling. Read more
