St Clare tells a fantastical tale, “Against All Odds” the battle of good against evil…if it doesn’t break you, it will make you stronger. I was shown two+ worlds and the struggle for control, combined with this, the characters and the conflicts they faced made for emotional, interesting and exciting reading. I actually LOL on occasion. Review:This book was too similar to _Speak_ by Laurie Halse Anderson. I loved _Speak_. It was fresh and original, and Anderson let us know right away that something traumatic happened to the main character. Review:Just like every other of Dessen's book, I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

It's great to see YA books that are about a journey more than, or instead of a romance. Any romance in this story took a back seat to the journey and growing up that the main character had to do over the summer before college.
