The Shadow Patrol (John Wells Series Book 6)
The Shadow Patrol (John Wells Series Book 6)

Review:I'm disappointed at Alex Berenson for writing such a soulless book. The plot of "The Shadow Patrol" is just an average with hardly any twists and surprises. I could see where Alex Berenson wanted to go with this book but he really missed it by miles. I also felt that the characterization of John Wells is beginning to get repetitive and annoying. The only good and enjoyable parts in the book were the plots which contained Ellis Shafer, ex-CIA boss of John Wells.

Overall, I wouldn't reall... Read more

Nerve Damage (A Drake Cody suspense-thriller Book 1)

Review:An adrenaline junkie's delight! As a medical professional, the twists and turns Tom Combs has weaved throughout Nerve Damage leave one gasping and wanting more. Scarpetta (Book 15) (The Scarpetta Series) - Book of the Dead
Scarpetta (Book 15) (The Scarpetta Series) - Book of the Dead

Review:I found the characters to be interesting and appreciated the loyalty Kay exhibited towards those she was close to. While I found the plot to be interesting, I found myself feeling remorseful for Will, being unwanted and abused child only to then find himself a part of yet another unforgiving, unforgettable child of war. As thoroughly as each persona was examined in this work, I found it surprising that Will 's character was only briefly touched upon and the illumination of his character remained... Read more

The Body Farm: Scarpetta 5 (Kay Scarpetta)
The Body Farm: Scarpetta 5 (Kay Scarpetta)

Review:Nothing super special here. Once again a computer system gets hacked. I've only read the previous 4 books, and if I'm not mistaken a computer system gets hacked or used fraudulently in 3 of them. Also, spoiler alert - she has no remorse for sleeping with a married coworker, which I find troubling, as I think most women would give this some consideration as not being appropriate. Read more

Black Notice: Scarpetta (Book 10) (Kay Scarpetta)
Black Notice: Scarpetta (Book 10) (Kay Scarpetta)

Review:Not your typical Cornwell. A little slow to get started but difficult to put down in the second half. Character development continues as Lucy gets more complex and Marino becomes more obsessed with Scarpetta. Heavy foreshadowing of things to come. Read more

All That Remains: Scarpetta 3 (Kay Scarpetta)
All That Remains: Scarpetta 3 (Kay Scarpetta)

Scarpetta (Book 9) (Kay Scarpetta) - Point of Origin
Scarpetta (Book 9) (Kay Scarpetta) - Point of Origin

Review:Kay Scarpetta Virginia Medical Examiner along with the FBI and ATF investigates several spectacular fire deaths in this fast paced book. The investigation process is entertaining and suspenseful . In determining the cause and origin of the fires the question is whether the deaths are the result of the fire or is it arson to conceal a murder, how this is determined is compelling. Having started with this book (#9), this is my introduction to Cornwalls' characters such as her niece Lucy, ps... Read more

Port Mortuary: Scarpetta (Book 18) (Kay Scarpetta)
Port Mortuary: Scarpetta (Book 18) (Kay Scarpetta)

Review:The mystery, suspense, interactions and storyline are woven with past and present. Dr Scarpetta, Lucy, Benton, Marino, Socks, Jack, and dead bodies et. al impact the storyline but you never know how it all plays out until the loose ends are pulled together creatively. I sensed some personal -personnel issues that haven't been totally resolved and leave the door open for further intrigue. It seems Kay has a few underlying `mid-life' issues festering and possibly some dramatic twists are develo... Read more

Predator: Scarpetta (Book 14) (Kay Scarpetta)
Predator: Scarpetta (Book 14) (Kay Scarpetta)

Review:Patricia Cornwell knows how to spin a good tale. i love her characters and feel as if i have gotten to know them and see them evolve (with all their humanness) over time. her writing is tight and the plot moves along and holds my interest. She can set a mood and make a scene so real- and one almost feels as if they are experiencing the scene in person. Read more

Scarpetta (Book 8) (Kay Scarpetta) - Unnatural Exposure
Scarpetta (Book 8) (Kay Scarpetta) - Unnatural Exposure

Review:So many of her books with Scarpetta are repetitious. One minute the characters are best friends, then they hate each other, then their best friends like family, Then they hate each other. Then their sick, but you don't find out if their cured or still sick, but their still flying helicopters.Back a bunch or books ago Lucy was working with an ex FBI guy and he was like her second in command.
The next book he's gone. What happened? I love series books, but this is to goofy. Some bad guys she kee... Read more
