Loved this story, characters credible, story was fast-paced with a good plot. I enjoy medical thrillers and this was a good one. Emergency room doctor, exciting plot. Want a good read? I recommend Nerve Damage.

It is always better to read books written by 'certified' experts in the fields they write about.

Tom Combs is definitely one of them. I have been checking on some of the details in Wikipedia and they seem to be quite authentic.

Being an ancient guy, reading the book is somewhat similar to watch TV shows like ER or Law and Order. They were what one can call 'educational entertainment'. So is this book. Even the way it is written it keeps the suspense for most of the time. The plot is resolved only at the very end.

Highly recommended to all who remember watching the two TV shows mentioned above when they were in their 'prime'. Some of them may be still shown with some actors quite dead.

Buyers beware! Don't start this book and expect to get anything else done or get a good night's sleep until it's finished. I will often read to unwind and fall asleep but found this book so gripping that I had to force myself to put it down so that I could get some rest. I went to work feeling exhausted due to the lack of sleep that it caused me, but now find myself wishing there was more. There were a number of truly ingenious plot twists that made this one of the most entertaining books that I have read in years.

Truly an outstanding book! As an ICU nurse I enjoyed the accurate portrayal of caring and compassion demonstrated by the nurses and physicians in this book. I am anxiously waiting for the next book by Tom Combs, MD

Combs has written a multi-layered thriller that interweaves the importance of family, cutting-edge medicine, knows no limits greed, and our increasingly global economy. A truly entertaining anytime read; highly recommended.

Finally! I found a new physician-turned-author that can write a great novel. I've been a medical thriller fanatic since I learned to read (I'm a senior citizen). Tom is a natural. Loved the story! Got into the charcacters. Couldn't put the darn thing down! Great read! Am going to start the second one, "Hard to Breathe", as soon as I finish this review. I've heard he also has a third novel in the works, Blood Loss.

Also, Tom welcomes contact from his readers. I've emailed him a couple of times and he's responded to both of them!
