The Nightmare Before Christmas - 20th Anniversary Edition
The Nightmare Before Christmas - 20th Anniversary Edition

Review:Written super easy like a young children's book, but actually much too scary for young children. A man being strangled by a Christmas wreath and a child being chased by a demon doll is not appropriate for the age the book seemed to be written for. The Nightmare Before Christmas story calls for a more young adult audience, and it should have been written as such. They totally left out Sally, and the Bogeyman, and anything having to do with the plotlines regarding those characters. They basically ... Read more

Knight Kyle and the Magic Silver Lance (Adventures Beyond Dragon Mountain)

Review:My son loves the stories! The pictures are creative and grab his attention. There are a few grammatical errors which may be due to the translation. I'd love that to be addressed as well as a little more love for female characters. Perhaps Constance could save the Prince! Read more

The Five Chinese Brothers (Paperstar)
The Five Chinese Brothers (Paperstar)

Review:What's interesting is all these adults putting their 2 cents in determining what a child would think about the book. Maybe you do have to worry maybe you don't, but my childhood memories go back at least this far. This was one of my favorite books even and even though it had problems as a child nothing bothered me. I knew that it it stereotyped and that something was wrong with the person who did that. I knew that they tried to kill a brother, but I always believed that Good Trumps Evil every ti... Read more

Go Away, Big Green Monster!
Go Away, Big Green Monster!

Review:My son likes this book. It is fun and entertaining and the repeating phrases make it easy to 'read along' with. I like the cut out pages that make it really fun to look at. It can also help kids get over fear of a monster. Read more

Birthday Monsters! (Boynton on Board)
Birthday Monsters! (Boynton on Board)

Review:For my daughter's monster themed birthday party, I purchased this book for guest sign-ins. Not only will she have a charming momento from her first birthday but also a charming book. The story is quite nice (party monsters making a mess then doing something really nice in the end) and the art is off-beat, attractive and memorable. I also purchased this for my nephew's first birthday. Big hit. Read more

Thank You, Sarah: The Woman Who Saved Thanksgiving
Thank You, Sarah: The Woman Who Saved Thanksgiving

Review:I enjoyed the story; the characters were well drawn. I did not realize when I bought it that it was Young Adult fiction, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. But the ending left me cold. So much more could have been done to wrap it up. Read more

Frosty the Snowman (Frosty the Snowman) (Little Golden Book)
Frosty the Snowman (Frosty the Snowman) (Little Golden Book)

Review:My kids are Christmas nuts and one of their favorite movies is Frosty the Snowman. I was excited to get this book, but a lot of the movie is omitted from this book. I think they could have added a few more pages to round out the story as opposed to omitting a chunk of the famed Christmas tale. Read more

The Berenstain Bears and the Joy of Giving
The Berenstain Bears and the Joy of Giving

Review:So, I probably should have read the reviews, because I didn't realize this book was religious and that's not our family's thing. The general message of the book is good but I wish it didn't use words like "Lord" and "worship." I am fine with the Christmas story and think that's important and the message of giving is better than recieiving and the real meaning of Christmas but I think there are ways to do that with a more secular tone. Review:I purchased this book for my youngest son, who is 4.
He enjoyed it immensely. Now, he has some images to go with this classic holiday story.
It is also refreshing to read/sing it to him in this hot, Southern California summer evenings. Read more

The Snowman and the Snowdog (Step into Reading)
The Snowman and the Snowdog (Step into Reading)

Review:"The Snowman" both book & video is a classic, wonderful story without words, but beautiful music & annimation. It engages the child (who is too young to read) & allows them to TELL the story as it progresses. I highly recomend it! It has been around for a while & it remains one of my favorite Christmas stories. Read more
