God: The Most Unpleasant Character in All Fiction
God: The Most Unpleasant Character in All Fiction

Review:(Some notes after six chapters...I've since finished the book on Feb. 15)

>>The Good...
I think that Barker's 9-page opening remarks were damn near perfect, every word, every letter. Good stuff.

The book is broken down into quite a few chapters (such as Unforgiving, Homophobic, & Bloodthirsty ), each featuring some unpleasant aspect of God and/or his followers (such as requesting God's bloody wrath upon their enemies).

>>The Bad...
Don't read before be... Read more

How an Evangelical Preacher Became One of America's Leading Atheists
How an Evangelical Preacher Became One of America's Leading Atheists

Review:Excellently organized and written, this book covers most of the reasons I myself, left religion and became an Athiest. I would put this book alongside "The God Delusion" by Dawkins and "god is not Great" by Hitchins as must reads for the undecided and unenlightened. Barker provides a well-written expose on why he left religion and to my thinking, joins Dawkins and Hitchins in carrying forward the ideas and reasoning of Paine and Ingersoll. Read more

Review:I didn't start out enjoying the book until I realized how broad the scope of Atheist beliefs are.

Awkward Moments Children's Bible, Vol. 1
Awkward Moments Children's Bible, Vol. 1

Review:I've gotten my hands on this witty piece of literature that exposes some very awkward chapters and one liners in the bible, such as David bringing twice the amount of foreskins needed to marry. Or Jesus and his missing narrative. Or the rather strange demon pigs. These are either all things readers of the bible have missed - or refused to think about.

Horus's book actually opens up dialogue between readers of the faith and poses interesting questions and encourages a research into the cul... Read more

A Manual for Creating Atheists
A Manual for Creating Atheists

Review:If you honestly think that faith is "pretending to know things you don't know", then you are dangerously naive and not just when it comes to religion. For example, Dawkins has said in his great, new book that he was abused when he was younger. I have faith that Dawkins is telling the truth even though his statement is not falsifiable due to the passage of time and there is no hard evidence to support his statement. My conviction that he is telling the truth is based upon my judgment of the man a... Read more

Atheism and its Scientific Pretensions - The Devil's Delusion

Review:What a great thinker Mr. Berlinsky is! Though he is neither a Christian nor creationist, he totally destroys the silly arguments of the proponents of evolution with sound science and wit. If you are searching for understanding concerning the creation/evolution debate, this is worth reading. Read more

An Appetite for Wonder: The Making of a Scientist
An Appetite for Wonder: The Making of a Scientist

Review:Richard Dawkins is one of my personal heros. His understanding of science is outstanding, his ability to explain it is remarkable, and his ability, to make sense of complex and subtle topics puts him at the top of the list of science writers. He also can tell a good story in a down to earth way. It was fascinating to hear how he came to this point in "An Appetite for Wonder". Read more
