Chapter Books & Readers
Review:I actually purchased this book for my husband as an inside joke. We had seen it in an eclectic children's store in Santa Barbara and found one particular part very funny: it tells readers that though sharks are dangerous, not to worry because you're more likely to be killed by a bee sting. We thought that was brilliant for a children's early reader. Who are the people publishing these things? I had to give it a 3 because of what other people say about the information being factual and all th... Read more

Review:Lucas (4) and Lilah (3) request this book before nap and and bedtime every day/night. I had no idea they would like it sooo much. It's really fun to read and provides lots of interesting information. Review:I bought granddaughter several books for her birthday (age 4). Some of them are simpler and are ones I thought would be a good start for her 'Ready to Read' or "I can Read" phases, but instead of picking up one of the simpler books, she looked through them until she found the one she wanted: "Stinky Giant". There is something about 'stinky' that makes a 4 year old laugh. She concentrated so intently that I knew it was money well spent - invest in the future. e Read more

Review:A 2013 Dorling Kindersley/Smithsonian release, EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SNAKE AND OTHER SCALY REPTILES is geared to readers ages 7-11. Having said that, older readers would enjoy this once-over, well-illustrated guide to snakes and assorted creepy crawlies as well.
The book's 80 pages are fairly evenly divided between snakes and reptiles with units on prehistoric monster snakes, adders, rattlesnakes, snake charmers, snake skin/fangs/venom/hibernation habits/etc., spitting cobras,... Read more
Review:My daughter loves Junie B. Jones! She loves the books so much she has felt the need to read them out loud to me since I don't have time to read them myself. They're cute and surprisingly funny, and this book is no exception. It's a great price, too--it would cost more to go to the movies than to buy a Junie B. book. Read more
Review:We own quite a few of the national geographic readers and we love them all. They are appropriately laid out for young readers, my daughter loves the riddles/jokes and she loves learning interesting facts about the animals and sharing them with the family. I am very pleased with this purchase and will continue to buy others in the series. Read more
