My four year old Granddaughter loves this book. It is her second one.....she completely wore out the first one. She loves "Happy Birthday Danny and the Dinasour" and is also on her second book with this one too.

I bought this book because it was my favorite book when I was in kindergarten. I may have been horrible at math but reading was my favorite thing to do! I bought it as a blast from the past and maybe one day if I so choose to have a family, my spawn can enjoy Danny and his friend the dinosaur.

Bought this for a former student who is expecting. This was my favorite book growing up (my dad said he had it memorized) and I read it to my boys a lot too. It is a great beginning reader for children. Highly recommend!

Danny and the Dinosaur is a delightful tale of imagination and good-humored fun. Danny visits a museum where he meets a dinosaur looking for a little bit of fun after 100 million years of just hanging around. They go and have a great time playing in the city. No one is hurt or placed in danger, and everyone has a good time.

I pulled out my old copy of Danny and the Dinosaur for my 3 year-old son the other day after I came across it by happenstance in an old box. My son fell in love with it, just as I did at his age. We read it so much that it fell apart by the end of the week. I replaced it with this version, which is just as handsome as the 1974 version I originally used. It remains one of my son's favorites still, even after a month. This is a great book for a toddler with a good imagination as well as an outstanding book for beginning readers.

While the title sums up the storyline -- a day in the life of Danny, a boy, and his friend, the dinosaur -- the story is full of make believe and magic that was absolutely riveting to my young boys.

The words and the concepts are nicely focused on Level 1 readers (early reader). The book also offers a nice primer for children getting ready to attend a friend's birthday party as the illustrations show many of the iconic activities and how well-behaved children should act in that situation.

My sons' bookshelf holds roughly nearly 100 books and Syd Hoff has two other titles in our collection, Danny and the Dinosaur and Happy Birthday and Oliver that I recommend, too.

Danny's big Jurassaic age pal is back for another adventure. Danny returns to the museum and takes his friend the dinosaur to summer camp where they experience a typical day in the life of a camper. Mr. Hoff's has hit his mark again. Danny and the dinosaur go to camp offers a clear and simple presentation of the kinds of values we should all strive for. The dinosaur potentially a creature of fear, is gentle, noble and considerate. Values such as acceptance of those unlike ourselves, sharing, participation and friendship are expressed with simple eloquence in both word and illustration. While meant for early readers, the story is engaging for all ages.
This book may also help allay the fear of detachment experienced by many children prior to attending their first summer in camp.

Danny and the Dinosaur by Syd Hoff
This audio book I listened to and it's about Danny and how he discovers dinosaurs at the museum.
He pretends the dinosaur is real and can talk and they set out on an adventure-a ride around town.
They see different things around town as they see the sights. Some waiting for a bus just hopped on his tail for a ride.
They go to the baseball game and cheer for the team and he turns his body into a boat and acts like a boat.
The zoo is a bit hit but they are asked to leave as everybody just wants to see the dinosaur and not the other animals.
The kids teach him tricks and they all have a good time. The best part is the hide and seek game because the dinosaur is so big he can't hide well but the kids have an idea that works.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Recommended by a famous Taiwan writer, this is the first English book i bought and read with my 2-yr old son. The illustration is so cute and the story is fun. My son likes it very much.

After this book, we started to read other 'I can Read Books' series and my son's favorites are 'Little Bear', 'Sammy the Seal' etc.

I think the 'I can read books' series really helps my son to pick up reading skills.

He's 4 now and he can read Oxford reading tree level 7 without help. And we're Chinese and English is not our mother tongue.

Danny and the Dinosaur Go To Camp by Syd Hoff
Audio book about Danny went to camp with his friend the dinosaur for the summer.
Book tells all about the different things they can do: racing, football, rowing the boat,
and then they had lunch. Funny things happen because the dinosaur is there, too funny!
Letters home are just perfect! Other camp things happen to make it a perfect day at camp.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

My favorite thing in Danny and the Dinosaur was the last very last page of the book because it was funny. But if you want to read it go for it but I'm not going to do the talking. You read it and find out.
Danny wanted to play with a dinosaur. There was no dinosaurs though but then he heard a voice behind him. Then there it was a...A dinosaur! However Danny and the dinosaur went for walks and played together. So it was getting late and it was time for Danny to go home. Danny went home.

This was a beloved book when I was really small. My Grandma used to read it to me, and it was one of the first books I read.

The story is perfect for a children's book, it's quite simple and fun. Small Children in any generation will love Danny and the Dinosaur.

Danny spends the day with a dinosaur, doing all the fun sort of things he'd do with the rest of his friends (i.e. playing hide and seek, etc).

This is a cute, comical, story with a sweet ending, but there really isn't *that* much to the plot. I'd probably give this three stars, except that I remember enjoying it when I was little and for whatever reason (the story, the illustrations, or both) it made an impression on me. So, for that I gave it an extra star.

As a nanny who reads countless books to children, I was surprised to find that this book has been in reprint for over 50 years. There is no plot, and it's kinda boring. I guess kids like it because it contains a dinosaur. That is all it has going for it. I wouldn't purchase it. I normally don't post negative reviews, but I really think there are millions of other books that teach a lesson and implore imagination. On the plus side, reading anything to children is better than not reading at all.

One of my favorite children's books. I loved this book a a child and as an adult I still like this book. It is one of my sons new favorite. I found it at a library book sale. I could not pass it up. It does repeat but no more than any other beginners reader's.

AS I think back on my childhood htere are several books that helped to make me an advid reader. DANNY AND THE DINOSAUR is most definitely one. It is a pleasant story of a boy and his dinosaur. The adventures they have together are simple and beautiful. I remember reading this story over and over until the book was worn out. I remember sharing it with other children and reccomending it to many parents. It is a simple, fun, easy story that will lift your spirits and will encourage children to fall in love with books.

This is a classic work, a brilliantly simple book, with a lovely fantasy story and exquisitely simple, highly memorable illustrations. Definitely a must for very young readers, especially dinosaur lovers.
Quite simply, Danny and the Dinosaur is forever burned into my brain as a favorite of my childhood, and now of my own children. It's Hoff's best, and I expect it will remain a classic for generations to come.
Please RateDanny and the Dinosaur
