Review:Great book to help little one's understand heaven and what it is believed to be. I'm not a religious person and not really sure that I believe in heaven and hell and God and all that, but even I enjoyed reading this to my 3 year old while my father in law (her grandfather, obviously) was dying. After his passing, she really took to this book as well as a couple others that were equally "enjoyable" and great learning tools for little minds. Read more
Review:LOVE that there is a resource like this for parents and kids. I didn't think the content was in any way inappropriate. I read it to my 5 year old boy and it didn't affect him in a negative way at all. Read more
Review:My daughter's 4th grade class was reading this novel, and I was so intrigued by the premise that I bought it for my Kindle so I could read it with her. And oh my, what a waste of money it turned out to be.
The writing was so amateurish I could barely stand it. The time spent describing every little detail and every word of a conversation could put you into a coma, while so many other aspects of the story were skipped entirely.
And the worst is how it ended. There are pages and page... Read more
Review:Dear Reader: The is a review of My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga. It was certainly an interesting read but I feel like I needed more information than the book was giving. It's a very dark plot; a story about a girl who sees no light left in the world and decides that she is going to take the quicker way out. She will kill herself to rid the world of the daughter of a murderer. Via the internet and a website, she finds a boy who wants nothing more than to do the same. He is mournin... Read more
Review:We used this book for homeschool study of American History. It was engaging and informative, giving historical context through the eyes of ten year old Sylvia Mendez and her experiences. I was very impressed with this book, and gratified to have such an excellent resource for our classroom! Read more
Review:So, I picked this up only vaguely knowing the premise -- teens and summer, sick dad and family bonding -- and assuming I knew where it would go. I expected a fun read, a bit of an emotional roller coaster, but a happy ending.
Nope.
It was still a fun read, mostly because of the setting. I spent the whole book with a distinct longing to pack my bags and hike up to the mountains for some summer fun. The Edwards family was great, too, especially by the end. I really loved following th... Read more
Review:Well written. For the right audience, I think this book will pack a punch. LaFleur knows how to capture that tween voice. Full of angst and self loathing, Cricket struggles to find herself without losing who she really is. Unlike Love Aubrey, this book seems written exclusively for kids. Little cross-over appeal for adult readers. Great choice for an in-classroom collection for independent reading. Read more
Review:This book was interesting and healed my attention quite well. it is not the most interesting book ever, but it was very funny. The great mouse plot was very funny and he was quite a trouble maker. I would recommend this book to anyone who would like a funny, easy read. Read more
Review:I really liked the simplicity of this book. It was a quick easy read with no religion in it at all. It was very matter of fact and detailed how different living things have different life spans. I bought this for my almost 5 year old daughter who had started asking about death. There is a section that talks about accidents and illness as a cause of death with a picture of a butterfly wing all broken in pieces. It kind of freaked her out. Also, the book was written in the 1980's so it says people... Read more
Review:As usual the ending is unpredictable! I like the way Patterson wraps up his stories - the endings are as thought out as the rest of the story. I always recommend the Alex Cross stories to other Patterson fans in my circle. Read more
