Review:There are a lot of longform pieces on the sharing economy. Most of them have so much overlap though that I rarely learn much after reading them. Brad Stone has the benefit of an entire book to move beyond the background that any writer has to share on the subject, and tell a more detailed story, and he does so magnificently.
The hallmark of any Brad Stone book is copious research. He finds stories from every angle on every company he writes about. This book is no exception. We learn about... Read more
Review:The premiss is a good one: the father daughter thing sells books. This is a book I wanted to like but it just couldn't hold my attention. The Last Frontiersman, also by James Campbell was more interesting. At least to me. But it no doubt strengthened their relationship. Although I doubt this would fit into the self-help category. No amount of book sales will equal their bond. Read more
Review:Our favorite puzzle book. Lots of puzzles to keep you thinking. Gets you to think outside the box! Our family loves to read through one of the puzzles and then let it simmer for a few days to see who can come up with a solution. Many of the puzzles are tricky word problems, mixed with excellent logic problems. Great book. Read more
Review:I love this book! Full of "tricks" to understand AND remember what you learn. I am a mother of two teenagers and reading this helped me remember what I had forgotten and to be able to explain to both my daughters. Read more
Review:This book makes mathematics fun and easy. it is the only book for maths that i am not getting tired of despite having English as a second language. As a teacher I am inspired by the humorous and smart way of introducing maths to students. i am planning to buy the second book as well. I hope Danica writes more books explaining algebra and other difficult math concepts. Read more

Review:This has been a wonderful read--challenging the traditional thought that addiction is a disease takes guts. She's running up against the $$ system that is so entrenched with maintaining this fallacy. (how come smoking is never considered a disease btw?)
I agree with her--addictions are a learning problem and if we spent more time helping teenagers learn how to manage thinking and feelings, we could prevent many of these learning errors and addiction would not end up filling the void. S... Read more
Review:An extemely imaginative book. Very well written. Very interesting to people who enjoy reading about evolutionary forms other than primates. Very interesting speculations. My only criticism is that the closer we get to modern humans the more sterotyped the individuals become. I began to correctly predict the outcome of various encounters. The consequenses of the modern time disaster were predictable, but not believeable. Read more
Review:Amazing story of brilliant people achieving an even more amazing goal. Amid all the turmoil of the 60's they achieved what still seems impossible while using a slide rule at the dawn of the computer era. Read more
Review:In times of stress when authors are producing crap (yes, that is what many publisher's are putting out there with superb quotes that can not possibly be real) and calling their "work" writing! So far from the truth as to be outside the Milky Way galaxy. My favorite "writer" to call out for this is James Patterson. Tom Wolfe's work is indeed worthy of another go 'round if you do not care for the classics and if you do care for the classics as well. I have read Bonfire so many times that my hard... Read more
